Thought levitation. I was very surprised to see a lot of negative reviews of this picture. I agree that this is certainly not a masterpiece, but I will not water it with dirt, as almost all previous reviewers did.
The plot is not original, but not to say that for domestic cinema it is just like a stamp. Have you seen so many of our productions? And given the fact that in 2006, Russian thrillers (with a hint of horror) were one or two and lost, and in general we can say that this film should be watched at least for the sake of interest.
Yes, there are absolutely incomprehensible moments, such as improbable behavior of the characters, or completely stupid flashbacks that only confuse the viewer. But by and large, it looks good. And I don’t understand why everyone compares the tape to the Cube. In my opinion, absolutely nothing like that.
As for acting, again, I disagree with most. In my opinion, the actors played very well. Especially Spivakovsky and, oddly enough, Vernik. And the rest of them didn’t play well.
Of the pluses, I will also highlight the music that helped catch up with the mysterious atmosphere of uncertainty. And in general, it was interesting to follow the actions of the heroes, although everyone immediately understands that we are facing another variation of Ten Negroes.
Of the obvious disadvantages, I note the not too successful implementation of the idea with flashbacks, which, given the weak special effects, look at the level of short films. As for the ending, it's not that confusing. Personally, I have my own opinion about the final, but in order not to throw spoilers, I will write it in the comment to this review.
In general, the film did not turn out so bad. You can see it at least once. At least for the sake of interest in domestic cinema.
