This comedy can not be called something out of the ordinary, but in general it is quite good for easy viewing and rest. The theme, in principle, is banal, as for American comedy melodramas, but I liked the performance, it is much more original than in such films. From the very beginning, good dynamics were taken, no sagging of the plot, not boring, but cheerful and confident. Immediately we see a straight espionage beginning, and Matthew Perry, almost James Bond, but it turns out that this is only one of the victims that have to go bailiff from the law office to hand a subpoena to the client.
The plot is based on two heroes who perfectly cope with their task. Matthew Perry was distinguished by originality, the image of Joe Tyler can not be compared with Chandler from Friends or Oz from Nine Yards, because his hero does not have the usual fuss, but he is savvy, has a certain charisma, and there is no trademark facial expressions of Matthew, and the instinct of self-preservation, apparently, too, judging by how Tyler cheated on the bandits who beat him. Scenes where Joe with an impenetrable expression on his face that says he doesn’t care about anything, Perry was especially successful. Well, in fact, he is a good actor, a comedian, too, I had no doubt about him. But Elizabeth Hurley had never seen anywhere before, given her modeling data and modeling career, did not represent her as a good actress, rather expected her to play the role of a dummy wife, but not here! It turns out she is a very good actress, and the role was interesting - beautiful, smart, resourceful, but too trusting woman.
The plot is quite simple: the husband decides to divorce his wife, she arrives the bailiff to hand a summons and Sarah threatens to remain penniless in his pocket, but in time, she offers the same bailiff Joe Tyler tempting scam, she is a million, and he hands the first summons not her, but her husband. After all, in this case, the trial will take place in New York, not in Texas, and Sarah is more likely to get the legal half of the jointly acquired. From that moment their adventures begin. In the course of the film there is a lot of good humor, sometimes "sort" jokes, but in general easy, fun and funny. Great, nice movie for the evening, I really liked it.
Yesterday Chandler Bing from “Friends” migrated to the comedy “Fraudsters”, where Matthew Parry played Joe Tyler – an employee of the law office, delivering news of “happiness” to those spouses whose soul mates decided to divorce. In many ways, Chandler’s behavior, movements and character from the popular sitcom Parry transferred to the full-length movie and his “Bounty Hunter” turned out to be just as stupid and frivolous, but all the same kind and pleasant.
The film turned out to be incredibly eventful, quite cheerful, sometimes sad, with a lot of recognizable faces and names and, what is also important, with a story of beautifully developing love.
When Joe gets another assignment – to deliver a summons to one lady, he can not imagine that meeting with her will turn his whole life upside down. In addition to the fact that his “victim” becomes a sexy Sarah Moore, she also involves him in her divorce proceedings, poaching from one ship to another. From now on, Joe will have to show all his resourcefulness and ingenuity, so as not to disappoint Sarah, a woman with whom he gradually begins to fall in love.
As I wrote above – the film is full of famous names – Matthew Perry, Elizabeth Hurley, Bruce Campbell, Amy Adams, Cedric “The Entertainer”, Terry Crews, Vincent Pastor – they all create an atmosphere of lightness and ease in the film, each adding their own character – nervousness and spontaneity, elegance and sexuality, stupidity and brutality, idioty and stupidity.
Most of all, I like to watch here the hero Matthew Perry, who due to his long language will find a way out of any situation. Already from the first minutes, when he, to become the main spy of Her British Majesty, appears “Bond...”, you expect a sequel worn to holes, but then Perry, as if in his head there is Chandler, instantly orientated and gave out “Bond. Bobby Bond”. It would seem that there is nothing unusual in this phrase, but it set a positive tone for the film. In the future, burning tires in the hotel, adventures on races on SUVs, a trip to the ranch, where there is a noble inseminator gob, spy games with air tickets - all this leaves a good impression of the film, which, no, is not the best in its genre, but looks simple, easy and able to lift the mood on a gloomy winter evening or after a not very good working day.
Naturally, it is impossible not to mention Elizabeth Hurley and Amy Adams - one was already known as a stunning woman, the other was just beginning to conquer Hollywood. Both beauties perfectly fit into the cast and became its main decoration.
But look at you. I do not impose my opinion on anyone.
Wedding is perhaps the most beautiful event in the life of two lovers, which promises a happy married life and everything that follows. However, this is not always an event and all subsequent ones are. Hence, it is not surprising that suddenly after marriage divorce and division of property to the last penny no surprise. What he decided to ridicule in his film director Reginald Hadlin.
Though the film did not become a commercial hit and did not gain special fame among the audience, but the director of the film Reginald Hudlin certainly managed to shoot a very glorious comedy, which perfectly combines both the adventure promised by the title and authentic romanticism.
The plot of the picture is not sufficiently intricate and simple. All plot twists are calculated with special ease, but despite this, the film looks with special interest and even pleasure. In many ways, due to how easy and simple screen events are presented by the creators of the tape. That allows you to focus on the intellectual content of the picture, how much it is simple to get the purest relaxation of the brain and pleasure from what is happening. Including an impressive number of different charismatic characters who perfectly dilute the story with their motley characters.
The film is also interesting because it ridicules the legislative framework of the United States. When positioning itself as a single nation with a single code of laws, each of the many states of the country willingly interprets these same laws in its own personal way. Thus, reflecting the picture that in one state you can be king, and in another - vice versa.
The film is drawn to a greater extent exclusively by the cast of the tape. The star of “Friends” Matthew Perry is still great in the image of an uncouth loser. Bribing all the same natural manner of play, pleasant humor and its rich external charisma. Good and Elizabeth Hurley. The truth is sometimes in the shadow of Perry in terms of his game, but offsetting all this with his appearance. As a result, creating a rather unusual and interesting screen pair on the screen.
I was very pleased with the presence in the picture of Bruce Campbell, who in the first time in my memory “came out” of the image of Ash, who was so tightly attached to him in “Evil Dead”. Quite interesting characters played Terry Crews, Cedric the Entertainment and Vincent Pastore, with which they noticeably dilute all this on-screen movement. Well, it is impossible not to mention Amy Adams purely for informational purposes. As a kind of comparison of what roles she played at the beginning of her career and how much she has grown as an actress over the years.

Fraudsters are far from outstanding and not terribly original, but quite easy, pleasant, funny and interesting adventurous romantic comedy. Most of all, bribing with an excellent cast and interesting characters created by them.
A strange country, after all, this America. And her laws are just as strange. Here Americans are constantly boasting about the unity of their nation, the anthem sings in chorus where it is necessary and where it is not necessary. And what kind of unity can we talk about if they have their own laws in each state? If in one state you are a hero, then in another you will probably sit on the electric chair, if in one state you are a millionaire, and in another you have nothing to hide.
Around this collision and revolves the action of the film “Fraudsters or American Divorce”. I forgot to add that even under American law, you can, for example, divorce without telling your wife anything. You call a law firm, and they send your gentleman, who is neither sleep nor spirit, a plagued courier with the habits of the Black Cloak, and he hands her a subpoena. Can you imagine her face at this moment? And what will she do to get revenge on you?
That's actually the whole movie. It is unclear why the original name Serving Sara was translated as Fraudsters. It could also be called “Love Hidden in Court,” “Kiss Me a Million Dollars,” or “How I Learned to Make Vinegar.”
One thing is certain. The film begins much more interesting than it ends. That is, how it ends, it becomes clear long before the end. There's nothing you can do about it. And even how exactly it will end is almost uninteresting. I wonder if Liz Hurley has natural boobs or not. Well, it would be nice to see it. Thought... There’s probably nothing new here.
There is nothing new in the film. Same gags, same programmed laughter, good-bad, love-carrot and happy ending.
It is a pity that we have not even learned to make such films.

Neither Matthew Perry nor Elizabeth Hurley ever became stars of the first magnitude and climbed to the top of the Olympus of glory. Although in the late nineties and early zeros, each of them gave us several interesting roles in good films. And their overall project, Reginald Hudlin’s crime comedy Fraudsters, in my opinion, has become one of the most memorable comedies of the turn of the century. True, the film failed at the box office, and for releases of expensive and more high-profile projects, it was soon lost altogether. I don’t think it deserves it.
Fraudsters tell us a story about two seemingly completely different people. Joe is a law enforcement officer tasked with handing a divorce letter to the wife of a wealthy businessman. Sarah is that wife, but she doesn't want to lose some of her money in a divorce. No, as a future divorcee, she did not run while she still has money, buy a ticket to the concert of Stas Mikhailov and pour crocodile tears for his songs in the company of hundreds of divorcees like her, she acts much more far-sighted. Sarah persuades Joe to go to his ex-husband in Texas and hand him a divorce order to save his money. As a reward, Sarah promises Joe 10% of the loan. And now a couple of unlucky scammers begin the hunt for one of the most influential rich people in Texas.
Comedies about scammers is always funny and also quite exciting. "Fraudsters" perfectly fit this description. Simple, easy, but at the same time interesting story. Not bad, standard for such films, but at the same time making you pour with laughter humor. And the main beauty of this picture - diverse, original actors, each of whom was remembered and liked something of his own. Well, a couple of the main characters picked up especially successfully. The whole movie is interesting and fun to watch.
Matthew Perry in the role of uncouth loser as usual good. This role took root in him, and in him he looks very realistic and certainly funny. Such roles suit Perry, and personally in such images he is very sympathetic. Elizabeth Hurley, as it seemed to me, is slightly inferior to his partner in acting, but easily compensates for this with his appearance. They had a beautiful duet that I was happy to watch. In pursuit of Sarah's husband, they were damn funny, and in private they were very romantic and sweet, and I liked that too.
Of the other actors, the two most impressed were Vincent Pastore and Terry Crews. Their funny characters unceremonious Italian churban Tony and brutal glamorous cowboy Vernon, who gave a lot of positive emotions, cheered from the heart. But Amy Adams I did not recognize in the role of a sexy stupid dummy, now she has changed very much and exclusively in a positive direction.
Fraudsters is not just a funny movie, but a movie that serves to raise the mood. Everything in it is furnished so fervent, fun and cute that it is impossible to restrain a smile when watching even through force. There is no sagging in the simple but interesting plot, and the whole film flies very quickly and in one breath. I recommend everyone to watch, because the comedy turned out really decent and very funny. Nice viewing!
This movie kind of hid from us. Or it was eclipsed by high-profile projects. But he's extraordinarily good. I didn't know about him until recently. A tiny number of reviews only eloquently confirm his modesty. But this does not diminish his merits to our own sympathies.
It was so easy to do something in the spirit of the classics, the comedies of those years (for each of their years) were sucked into a whirlpool, distracted from the hustle and bustle and relaxed more than relaxation music.
It's just not easy. The creators of our time lost something, something was overlooked, and the paintings were discarded. The more beautiful is the picture of Reginald Hudlin "Fraudsters", in which the path is chosen such (I will not even undertake to say which) that when viewing you feel like a young man. It was like I was 15 years younger. It is better because this picture is already a new millennium. Bravo! Someone (not one director created this) is still conscientious. It's not just a dry job.
But not only behind the scenes this film was created. Matthew Perry and Elizabeth Hurley showed such a colorful duet that I do not understand how the film was not nominated for the prize "Best screen pair". She is a beauty, he is a hundred percent charismatic with over-the-top charm.
The story itself seems to thank the writers for the ease. And everything is presented in such a way that watch and enjoy.
It's inappropriate to retell here. You need to know the jurisdiction of the United States. Screenwriters, taking advantage of loopholes in their legislation, concocted a scenario in which the procedural company gives notices to clients about any legal events. That's where the company got its income. The customer was always there. But it's not a cargo movie. Then the agent was involved in a charming adventure, profitable from a financial point of view. And then it went on and on.
The love line is almost invisible here. But definitely a priori it had to take place. However, development and denouement are not trivial.
In fact, a great mood for you when watching! I think you will get great pleasure and agree with me that such a film is not a sin to recommend to others, and at the next opportunity it will also not be a sin to review it.

This picture has a somewhat clumsy translation for the domestic viewer, because it seems like "Fraudsters" has little in common with the plot of the film, something could be better to come up with, for example, "On the Protection of Sarah" or "Covering Sarah" - this makes full sense to what our friends-writers of this adventuristic comedy have prepared for Jay Sherik and David Ronn this is the first work for a feature film.
It is because of their plot and the director of Reginald Hudlin, who has not yet been seen in the great successes of their films, agreed to play Matthew Perry, the star of the dilogy about Nine Yards and the series Friends, and the stunning beauty, the former model Elizabeth Hurley, who is remembered by many for performing the Devil in fantasy-com/b>
Matthew Perry plays an employee of an organization that gives wives and husbands subpoenas in divorce courts. The essence of the work in it lies in the fact that who will first hand the summons - the husband or wife to the husband - and, perhaps, the court will be on their side. The hero of Matthew Perry is not friendly, but rather a callous performer of tasks, without heart and sympathy. I must say that the role of Matthew Perry came out on the look, especially he was able to joke exclamations with an impenetrable face on which it was written “I absolutely do not care about you.”
Elegantly and at the same time organically played Elizabeth Hurley. Of course, as a representative of the male half of humanity, I often watched her body and appearance, rather than her play, but in those moments when I should have shown myself Hurley did it as a real professional, talented in the art of acting.
"Fraudsters" is a very good comedy with a rapid development of the plot and sparkling dialogue and not a bad production, especially with regard to the final scene in the arena. It can brighten your family viewing.
