Elizabeth Bathory is known for her brutal torture of young girls. This is one of those bloody pages of history that is striking in its cruelty and seems unimaginable to a mentally healthy mind. In combination, this topic is the one where the creators of horror films can walk around a lot, because the plot is almost ready, it remains only to add details.
In the film Lost, the Countess appears to the main characters in the form of a computer game, having died in which the hero also dies in life, and in exactly the same way as his character. And of course, we, in the classics, get acquainted with a group of teenagers who plan to stop this madness.
I liked the film in 2022, because it gave me a pleasant feeling of nostalgia for zero films, when not all the plot moves were repeated a million times, and the atmosphere would return the viewer to computer games with terrible graphics. For a slasher, the film, of course, is a little weak and in general, the horror does not reach the horror movie, which could really scare. But at least watching the movie is fun until the end. The only thing that I personally lacked was more information about Elizabeth, because of all the information that we are given, some rabid countess took revenge on young girls. All. If you do not know the history of Bathory, then most likely you can simply not understand what it is about or understand very superficially.
This film I recommend to watch for those who want to enjoy the lamp horror from 2006, without the goal to be very scared or watch a brilliant twisted thriller.
At one point, it seemed to William Brent Bell that the damned videos were a moveton and an outdated topic. In the yard, after all, zero, the heyday of the video game industry, especially in the horror genre. Therefore, to make a film about a damn video game, it is quite stylish, fashionable, youthful. Or maybe it was completely different, but somehow the horror “Lost” was born. In general, the world could do without it.
The story tells the story of a group of young people who get their hands on a copy of an unreleased video game. So to speak, for a beta test. Well, they are happy - cheerful and frightening survival-horror, and even in a cooperative. However, as they say, there is one "but" - it is categorically not recommended to die in the game, otherwise in real life death awaits, and the same.
In principle, the conceptual "Lost" project is quite interesting. There is a lot in it, a curse, vengeful spirits, elements of a detective (as the characters conduct a small investigation), colorful deaths. However, the execution is lame.
The film looks budget, and it is not even in some special effects, but in the shooting itself. Considering that for the above-mentioned William Bell, this film became a directorial debut, the cheap production is not surprising. The movie is boring to watch because it is boring. This is where weak acting jobs come from.
In principle, you can spend time on Lost, it has original ideas. However, nothing special can be expected. Sleepwalker.
Why do we like computer games? For allowing us to break away from a boring or unpleasant reality, immersed in a world of adventure, fiction... or horror. Lovers of tickling their nerves were, are and will be, but hardly many of them dream of being in great danger in fact. And the heroes of this film were not lucky.
There's no denying that the "Lost" script sags at many points. The cliché “the main character meets a beautiful, but lonely girl”, even then seemed too strained, and the observance of their own laws is sacrificed for the sake of twists and whipping up even more fear. How the game Stay alive is intertwined with reality is not fully understood. And here is an example of blunders, which is exactly familiar to any gamer: candles burn in abandoned buildings, which are unknown who lit and which for a long time for some reason did not burn. However, with regard to the film, this may not be a blunder, but an emphasis on the shortcomings of the games themselves.
A slight bewilderment is caused by characters that do not look very like avid gamers. Except for Miller, maybe. In 2022, the situation may have changed, but at the time of the release of the film, games were considered something very unserious, and to see teenagers sitting with joysticks of almost model appearance is rather strange. The second character is called October. Literally.
At the same time, Lost will cause a strong nostalgia for 2006 for any gamer, as the characters play a game whose graphics now look insufficiently detailed. The blood countess and long-haired zombies lack skin folds, although this feature makes them more intimidating in its own way. Scenes with “meat” (of which there are many) are less disgusting. In addition, the film raises a topical topic for all time - fear after listening to and, especially, passed in the game horror story. Admit it, did you also have an unpleasant feeling that fictional monsters are watching you in reality? As a child, everyone went through this. Except it was fake. At least you want to believe it.
Well, what is better - to play or watch a movie - an eternal question in which there is no clear answer. As well as the question of who in reality became the prototype of the Bloody Mary, which everyone has heard at least once.

It was known about Countess Elizabeth Bathory that this woman could not resist the torture of young innocent girls and seriously believed that their hot blood would bring her eternal youth. For a long time, the countess managed to commit her crimes without punishment, but once Bathory was betrayed, after which he was convicted and sent under house arrest for life. Of course, it is difficult to say whether she was really guilty, or all this is just baseless resentment and envy, but we have another legend that is as frightening as the tales of Dracula. And another variation of it we see in the film 'Lost'.
The plot is already in our days, when several centuries have passed since the time of the Countess. The developers of a computer game based on the life of the villain decided to take advantage of her fame and did not lose. Sales ' Lost' exceeded all imaginable limits, players were happy to find out what is in the castle, which is no worse than the basement of some maniac like Jigsaw, but soon it turns out that dying as a character, you can fold your head in reality.
That’s what happened to one of the players who didn’t expect trouble. And when his companions after the funeral also decide to play the story of Bathory, it turns out that the curse only grows stronger. Now everyone who picked up the joystick is in danger and it is necessary to quickly find out who developed the game and how to break the curse.
The idea of the film is not new, but it is very interesting. We all love to play games and don’t know what’s really behind them. Our heroes, like any other guys, expected just to have fun, but then the game grows into a real life horror and watching their adventures becomes incredibly interesting! Now the heroes have to remember everything they know about puzzles and quests to stay alive. But even this does not guarantee complete success.
One of the roles in the film was received by Frankie Muniz, the same ' Malcolm in the spotlight'. He’s not the main character here, but he knows a lot about games, so he’s irreplaceable somewhere. Other actors also did well, but it was Muniz that I liked the most.
Maybe ' Lost' and not the most popular horror film of those that came out in the second half of the 2000s, but the film has a unique feature to draw into its story and scare no worse than other horror movies. I liked the movie so I would recommend it.
There are no more boundaries between play, legend and reality.
There are crimes that have no statute of limitations and strike at the depth of their cruelty even centuries after their commission. Among such unforgivable acts can be safely called the mass murders carried out under the command of the Hungarian Countess Elizabeth Bathory, who at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries brought to the grave at least several hundred innocent girls who had no chance to evade the bloody justice of such a high-ranking person. According to the testimony of her contemporaries, who could no longer remain silent, Bathory was particularly pleased to mock innocent girls, forcing them to experience an incomparable agony that could sometimes last several days, or even weeks, but always with a single ending. Escape from the family castle of Bathory was not possible, because in addition to the Countess herself in her dark affairs involved faithful servants who for some reason refused to tell the public about what is happening in the gloomy dungeons. Nevertheless, it was difficult to hide such large-scale crimes, and in the end Elizabeth Bathora was put on trial, which her aristocratic family could not influence. Nor did Bathory help her own children, who, despite the care of their servants, allegedly needed the constant attention of their mother. The court was adamant that the Countess should be walled up in her own room, from which she could never leave again. The imprisonment lasted several years, after which the bloody soul of Bathory left her body, and the Countess herself turned into a legend, which frightens children before going to bed. In world culture, the sinister Hungarian aristocrat stood on the same level with Vlad Tsepes, also known as Count Dracula, and she also began to ascribe certain mystical properties that cause genuine trembling.
It is known that Bathory exorbitantly mocked the bodies of the girls, cutting them into pieces, setting fire and conducting other insane rituals of absolute sadism. But at the same time, there is evidence that the Countess took a real blood bath, thereby trying to prolong her youth and hoping to cheat death itself. Some historians believe that the entire trial of Elizabeth Bathory is nothing more than a historical fiction, and the Countess wanted to bring to the next world her many detractors, and yet in our memory the lady remained primarily as a murderer who knew no measure and wants to preserve her beauty at all costs, who faced such a powerful opponent as time. The image of the Countess, which over the years and centuries began to acquire an increasingly demonic character, was repeatedly used by writers who sought to arouse sincere fear in their readers. And with the invention of cinema, Bathory became a frequent guest on the screen, acting as the personification of pure evil, which must be exterminated in every possible way. Of course, before the artistic success of Dracula bloody countess was far away, and yet you can count at least a few films that successfully used her biography for their benefit. Among such works, in particular, we can distinguish the youth horror slasher ' Stay Alive', which may not have become the object of worship, and nevertheless he managed to maintain interest in the narrative throughout the viewing, competently introduced the legend of Bathory into history and pleased us with several memorable scenes, which blows cold.
Directly the plot of the film unfolds in our days, when on the shelves of gaming stores was a new computer game ' Stay alive'. According to the idea of the creators, players have the opportunity to go to the lair of Countess Bathory (Maria Kalinina), in order to explore its dark corners and find out who the owner of the castle really is and whether everything that is known about it is true. Naturally, the most avid gamers can not miss the attention of such a promising detective horror, and Loomis Crowley (Milo Ventimiglia) is no exception. Having installed the game on the computer, the guy decided not to postpone the test and immediately began to wander through the dark corridors of the castle, but due to the fact that the difficulty level was too high, his hero was soon killed. And this game for Loomis does not end, because for some unthinkable reasons, death followed him from the screen and killed him in the same way as his alter ego. The official investigation did not see anything in common between the game and the real death of Loomis, however, at first, his friends, who no less like to disappear in the evenings for computer games, could not think of anything similar. And to honor Loomis as he would accurately appreciate, the guys led by Hutch (John Foster) and Pig (Frankie Mooniz) decide to play in his honor in 'Lost'. But as you would expect, the curse again makes itself felt and begins to systematically mock the frightened guys, enjoying their dying moans. No one is going to sit and wait for the inevitable. Players understand that the quest turns into real life, and they do not have much time to get ahead of the inexorable Bathory.
The film by William Brent Bell has everything to please the audience, and although ' Lost' did not reach the peak of popularity in the image and likeness ' Scream' and other cult youth slashers, it must be admitted that the story turned out really good. The authors, in fact, for the first time transferred Batori to the format of a computer game and thereby were able to create a relevant, understandable and exciting story that the young audience liked. And due to the fact that the production budget ' Lost' was very small, the director and producers managed to avoid building large-scale historical scenery, which is especially unnecessary here. The only thing Bell had to pay special attention to was the villain’s lair, and even then the creators went to a small trick, changing the geographical affiliation of the Countess, placing her in the United States. Of course, this goes against what we know about it from historical reports, but after all, mystical forces are capable of special delights, and therefore, if desired, the story of Bathory can be adjusted to the extent that it does not want to make a single claim. And do not forget that ' Lost' is purely entertaining and does not set for its main goal despite everything to follow the letter of the historical chronicle. The main thing is that the events presented on the screen are fascinating, the dynamics of the film do not suffer, and the cast is selected in such a way as not to annoy anyone. And here even frivolous secondary characters are of interest to no less, and maybe even more than the main ones. As an example, you can note Frankie Muniza, who performs a comedic image, but do not doubt that he will sink into your soul.

For director William Brent Bell, Lost is his debut work.
The idea, of course, is interesting. The picture tells us about a mysterious computer game, after death in which a person dies in life. Or rather, the ghost of Countess Bathory kills him. Tell me, does this countess, who lived a dog, know in what age, know how to make computer games? If not, how does this movie work? Why does Bathory only kill those who died in the game? Unclear.
I can tell you there is an atmosphere. All the time haunted by a sense of foresight, a sense that death can not be avoided. However, everything is jammed to horror. Dialogues are weak: the characters contradict themselves, then they talk monosyllable. The ending is simply by the ears. There is no recorded music.
The performance of most actors does not stand up to criticism. Only Sofia Bush played well, and I won’t even remember the names of the others.
It's just a passing horror movie. There is nothing incredible.
I remember one day in the cinema before the start of the film we came to, there was a rather long advertisement for a new youth mystical horror movie “Lost”, which showed tempting visual special effects. But, frankly, even then the trend blossomed with a lush color, when the trailers for the new picture show the best fragments from it, and if you look at it in full, then everything else is solid “water”. So there was no special desire to see Lost somehow, but still I happened to get to the premiere. So what? In principle, the opinion that all the best and spectacular was in advertising turned out to be true, and the rest of the action was nothing more than purely filling the film to the desired timekeeping, otherwise the horror film “Lost” would be a short film. So, what else is a mystical horror film designed for an audience of teenagers, “Lost”?
According to the plan of Matthew Peterman and William Brent Bell, the latter eventually became the main director of the film, it all begins with the fact that two people fixated on video games get their hands on the cherished game, which is called - "Lost", even before its official release. In the game they die, but, oh horror, both gamers die in life! The police do not find any trace of the culprit and are ready to classify it as a suicide or fatal coincidence. But not inclined to think so Hutch - a friend of the victims and another avid gamer. And after Hutch’s immediate boss suffers the same fate after he played Lost, Hutch loses his last doubts – something is wrong with this game and to figure it out, you need to play it yourself. Several friends support him and they get into the sinister world of the deadly game, where everything is ruled by the infamous Erjebet Bathory, nicknamed “Bloody Countess” or “Countess Dracula”.
That's a mix or a cocktail. The filmmakers decided to combine reality and virtuality, but they could not keep a delicate balance, which makes the film look very, very weakly staged. Even the visual effects that the trailers focused on seemed naive and bland. The most important thing is that “Lost” did not achieve the main emotional effect – the genre is its horrors, and the terrible in the picture is quite small. I personally consider the appearance of Erjebet Bathory to be a rash act of the writers. How many horror films have been made using this ambiguous historical figure? But then she was presented as a reborn spirit inside virtual reality. Honestly, even though the mysticism in Lost is present, the idea is so implausible that it’s ridiculous. What is the spirit of the evil vampire in the video game? She was really considered a vampire, and here is a banal killer. Nothing to look at.
But even such films can be a chance for young actors to light up and show themselves. For example, Rene Zellweger and Jessica Biel started with this, and now they are many favorite actresses. The role of Hutch in Lost was played by John Foster, who proved himself well in a dramatic role in the film The Door in the Floor, although of course he lost to Jeff Bridges and Kim Basinger, but it seemed that the guy had everything ahead. His play in “Lost” did not become such proof – quite a usual performance of the role in a teenage film for teenagers. the main female role was played by Samair Armstrong, who can consider 2006 the best year in her career (yet?): in addition to “Lost” she played in the comedies “Boy in a girl” and “Kiss for luck”. In principle, Armstrong looked good in a horror movie, but she was not convincing enough. Among the rest of the cast, there is no one to single out, if only to say that Frankie Mooniz, known for the drama My Dog Skip and the dilogy about the child spy Cody Banks, appeared as a guest.
For William Brent Bell, “Lost” was the debut and, if they are soothed from the average score of his subsequent films, where he remained faithful to the genre of horror films, it is “Lost” so far his best work. But I wouldn’t be so happy about it, because Lost doesn’t really excite much excitement, and I don’t think it does. A one-off picture with some visual special effects for a youth audience with the moral that you do not need to play video games for a long time, otherwise Erjebet Bathory herself will appear and arrange a bloodbath for everyone.

I am surprised that such a cool and original film was given such a low rating, probably due to the lack of expensive budget and hyped actors. But with all this, the film has an exceptional plot, which can give odds to famous blockbusters.
The film begins with one gamer Loomis and a couple of his acquaintances mysteriously die, after which his childhood best friend receives his bag of belongings, including a disc with a game called Lost. After that, Hutch and his friends decide to play it.
A stunning film in which the game and reality, mix into one whole creating a unique atmosphere of fear and horror. And an important component of the film is the cast, which just perfectly coped with their roles, making their characters bright and memorable. I especially liked Fin with a peculiar sense of humor, Oktober is a pretty girl fond of Gothic literature, Sphink knows about games seems to be everything in the world.
In addition to the plot and actors, the film catches its gloomy atmosphere and decent special effects. But what I liked the most is the game “Lost”, would be happy to play it, I love survival games (adrenaline is off the charts).
But as always, my review will not do without a spoonful of tar, the film tells the story of the Hungarian Countess Elizabeth Battori, who kills girls to live and be beautiful forever. By the way, this Countess was a real person and lived in Europe, I do not understand why she was sent to America, but this is for the most picky viewers. And so from my side, there is nothing more to complain about, so I can put a high rating, and list my favorite films.

"Lost" - contrary to expectations, quite "light" horror. Initially, it seemed to me like a bloody and frightening horror movie with an interesting idea, just to tickle my nerves at night watching. In fact, the film is well suited especially impressive, at the sight of cruel scenes, viewers who, nevertheless, want to see something at least scary. Scares "Lost" due to the standard "boo" moments and accompanying sounds. If you are a sophisticated viewer, then it can frighten you only at the beginning of the viewing, all subsequent episodes with a hint of fright you can easily predict. For a horror film, the murder scenes of the characters are filmed very succinctly. They are not shown, as is usually the case, in detail, meaning you will not see rivers of blood, human entrails, and torn body parts. I know people who watch horror movies for that. Psychologically it was not possible to scare, violence - too. From all the above, it follows that there is nothing to be afraid of here. In fact, we can already say that the film, at least a horror film, did not work.
There is nothing to say about the plot - a computer game gets to the company of young people, dying in which, the player is deprived of real life, and in the same way as in the game. Naturally, there are annoying stamps of youth horror films, such as “such coincidences do not happen”, “there is something frightening, I will look” and the like, there are still police officers who do not believe the main characters and are completely unnecessary for the plot. To be honest, I got bored while watching. And the finale was also broken.
The actors only liked it externally. Their performance is on par with the quality of the film as a whole. Minimum emotions, or even their absence. What irritates me especially is that after the death of family and friends, the characters recover too quickly and forget about the loss. It is clear that no one would breed nunny - the specifics of the genre, but the local characters somehow do not care, even if a brother or a girl dies.
Neither music nor special effects can be distinguished. What did the game consultant listed in the credits, I do not understand. Even in 2006, I still have a lot of questions about gameplay, even though I’m no longer a gamer. But this is not so important in assessing the quality of the film.
In the end, thanks to its idea, it is impossible to say that “Lost” is an absolutely failed film. However, in my opinion, it can be attributed only to the category “once”. This is an interesting representative of the genre, but nothing more. Possessing potential, the picture was pumped up with implementation. The film did not live up to my expectations, but I do not regret the time spent.
Watching this film, I remembered that a couple of times with sin I had already tried to watch it in half, but could not reach the end. This time I decided to go ahead. What if an indistinct beginning is compensated by a mind-blowing end?
Yeah. It was necessary to take into account the previous two views and leave the film alone.
First of all, I have great doubts about the story. No, it's not bad at all. The computer creep that has found its way into our reality and brutally cracks down on players is interesting. But the attempt to complicate the idea, taking for a computer horror not just some thug or maniac, and the bloody Countess Bathory - it is somehow ... The creators wanted this to kill two birds with one stone - without fumes, explain how the horror penetrated into reality, and make the plot more saturated and twisted. And to my taste it was completely ridiculous. If the countess was able to find an outlet to our world, it was with the help of witchcraft, and witchcraft and computers do not a priori combine with me. In addition, the creators decided not to determine who is still Lady Bathory - a bloodthirsty maniac or vampire, and merged all in one vessel. That's better. No, it makes it worse. It turned out a monstrous smoothie from a maniac vampire, who with the help of witchcraft or black magic found a way into our reality. It already sounds pretty stupid and ridiculous. For me, you could limit yourself to any neutral computer character.
Most of the film was shot in dark colors. But instead of the gloom and moroseness that is designed to catch up with the atmosphere and plunge me into fear of what is happening, I see on the screen ... yes, the darkness. Not the most pleasant thing to do is to sit, wrinkle your forehead, trying to make out details, the character's face or the setting.
Third, in its approach, where a character dies just like his virtual hero in a toy, the film strongly, even too strongly, resembles Destination. I realize that once a successful move is made, there are hundreds of clones, good and bad. Well, this clone is bad. At Destination, they died in a variety of dashing ways, but in strict order, and this was explained logically. Here I could not understand why Lady Bathory wasted her energy on recreating the chariot.
Fourthly, I think no one will argue with me that the acting is simply talentless. They're not even trying to pull it off, and these great dialogues! From whom did you take Shakespeare?
Absolutely intrepid and uninteresting mix on the very last case, when of all the resources you have a video and disc only with this film.

Do you believe that the day will come when, playing a computer game, you can use it to control yourself running in reality? Agree that this is difficult to believe, but the film will help to realize your fantasies on this score. Only here you can not lose, otherwise the end of the game will lead you to death in real life. . .
The idea is very original, and in the film embodied with success.
Some things were not clear to me personally, so I had to think. But when I watched it, I didn’t really want to think. The film attracted a quick switch from a computer game to reality and vice versa. At the same time, the author revealed all the cards in the initial minutes, and everything was used gradually throughout the film.
On the score ' Was I scared? ' - No, it wasn't. For me - this is a rather interesting picture, which I saw for the first time of its kind, and that she was interested, but I will hardly reconsider.
The idea is interesting, but for me, the film came out quite bland (at times). The intensity of passions ' flares up ' only to the end of the film, where the denouement of the plot takes place. There we are just fluently shown overcoming the fear of the main character.
After watching, the film will leave behind questions that, alas, no one will answer. Impressions he leaves little, and the film quickly wears out of his head. However, to look at the company is the best, especially if you like computer games. Or just pass the time yourself.
Increasingly, films created on the basis of video games or games appearing on store shelves on the eve of the appearance on the big screens of the expected blockbusters. But the picture, released in 2006, does not fit under the first or under the second option. The story revolves around a non-existent video game.
An avid gamer receives a video game that has not yet been officially released. The young man is not afraid of the genre of the game, not that its previous owner died under mysterious circumstances. The guy invites friends to try out the software that got into his hands. Gamers have a great time in virtual reality. But one day, they realize it’s not just a game. Anyone who dies in the virtual world dies in reality. The boys are horrified, but their attempts to quit the game lead nowhere. After all, even without the participation of the player, the action in the virtual world does not stop, and death can overtake each of the users at any time. Friends have to unravel the terrible secret of the video game. Otherwise they will all die.
The plot of the picture turned out to be quite original. Of course, the picture cannot be nominated for an Academy Award for the most original story. There is a lot of plagiarism in the film. But, despite - it stands out favorably against other youth horror films.
The authors managed to create a gloomy and tense atmosphere. Dark autumn days, good audio design and satisfactory acting give the picture a special atmosphere. Of course - this is not "The Dark Knight" or "Lord of the Rings", but against the background of other similar paintings, the tape looks winning.
Lost is not a bad youth horror movie. Of course, you will not often review this picture. What to do with this tape fully reflects the “one time phrase”. But, despite this, the film can help to pass free time on some inclement evening. And think about the phrase that video games are harmful to your health. Maybe it’s not just empty words, but something more. Enjoy your visit.
Lost is a youthful, original horror film that is imbued with something new and sinister, and I loved it and looked spectacular. I thought at first that it was just an ordinary, banal horror movie, but I was wrong, and I liked this horror movie and I was impressed. The film is like one big computer game, and after watching there is something to think about, fantasize and imagine, and I thought about this film for a while, so I believe that the attention of the audience and a positive assessment it deserves.
We see how young people began to play a mysterious and gloomy computer game, and something went wrong, and it is no longer clear where the game is and where the reality is, and now the gloomy Countess from the game kills everyone who got involved in this mystical story, and we see an unusual and original story that captures the imagination and arouses interest.
Previously unknown to me actor John Foster looked in the title role worthy and played well, and after this film he remembered. I liked Sophia Bush the most from the cast. She is an interesting actress, and her heroine I was most sorry for.
“Stay Alive” is a bright and spectacular horror film with elements of a thriller, which turned out to be original and unlike anything, and I liked this movie, and I confess, I was surprised when I learned that film critics took it coldly. The film keeps in suspense, and the sinister negative heroine turned out to be terrible and chilling blood. I believe that this movie should be watched in the evening or at night, and it is atmospheric, so you will enjoy watching anything.

At heart, I am a gamer, and in the distant past I could not break away from a good good good toy for days. But ever since my high school and college years ended, and I have, as they say, entered adulthood, this gamer has hidden deep and securely within me. But I still hope that someday I will have so much free time again that I can get stuck in some good shooter for a couple of days on end. Maybe that's why I liked it. It brought me into the atmosphere of games and perfectly reminded me of the emotions you feel when you consume the game space.
"Lost" tells us about a group of gamers who accidentally come across an underground game about the Countess, who lived many years ago and killed women. The game is so downhill that friends do not immediately begin to notice that someone who dies in the game, after a short period of time dies in reality. Attempts to quit the game also failed, and now the main character of the game hunts for them and does not intend to retreat.
Lost is the first film by young director William Brent Bell. And you have to give him credit, to catch up with fear, he was excellent. The film contains an excellent set of scarecrows and nightmares, peculiar only to a high-quality horror film, and the director managed to create a magnificent atmosphere. With a modest budget, without hundreds of gallons of fake blood, without cool special effects, Bell combined game reality and quality horror in his film. As a result, an interesting project with a good untightened plot, with a small timekeeping, interesting and scary at the same time.
As for the actors, I did not meet any known surnames for myself here, but I saw almost every actor in some films, most likely youth comedies or horror films of the same kind. Their acting is certainly far from genius, although many horror films are famous for the simplicity of the emotions depicted, such as shouting to yourself, but in principle, the emotions of the actors of a particular film were enough for me to get a little worried and nervous.
In general, "Lost" exceeded my expectations. It turned out to be neither a damn good nor a horror movie of the year. It turned out not to be as bad as I expected. Fans of horror stories will certainly like it, because even I, although I am not a fan of the genre, the film seemed quite tolerable. But the story with the game impressed me, it was very good for the authors. I recommend everyone to watch , especially at night, alone, well before playing some terrible and downhill computer game.
The development of virtuality will erase the boundaries of reality
Back in the days when I didn’t have the internet, I watched movies on TV or on DVD. Of the many C horror films I found this movie. The plot about a group of teenagers who should stay alive has always attracted me, but after watching it I could not decide on the average one, or still worth a second viewing. Six years later I revised it and I think it was not in vain.
The narration begins with something stamped - the game that killed the friend of the Glavhero, gets to him himself, and he and his friends, of course, decide to play it. The reason for this is in memory of your best friend. It's a good thing things are better if you follow the details. As with every game, there are certain rules to follow and goals to achieve.
Who is the creator of the game-killer (small spoiler) we will not reveal. But the creator of this picture - debutant in the world of cinema William Brent Bell. And for the first time, he did well. The only thing I would like to know is the schedule is better. But he did not get a good start (critics reacted to the film coldly), and his next film will be released only in 6 years.
Unlike the director, the actors here are very famous. I’ve seen all these people somewhere, but I can’t remember where. They, in my opinion, very successfully fit into their roles - and a boy with a dark past, and a girl without an address, a gothic, a brother of a gothic - a dickhead, a small gamer, a boss, a friend of GG testing games, and even the sister of a tester who flashed in a small episode I remember, a cop, a salesman of disks with scarlet nails. They have their own small life on the screen, they are not just extras pronouncing the text, for this is a big and fat plus.
Overall, the film was above average. He asks some questions that he doesn’t answer, but it doesn’t matter. The appearances of the Blood Countess were sometimes spectacular, not without the presence of boo-effect of course. When you play a computer game, everything happens to you and your character, so it’s more scary to play, because in the movie we just watch the actions of some people. Choose a character and watch this movie (although it definitely deserves one view).
The game is an expansion of the consciousness of its creator. You're not going to play with Charlie Manson, are you?
Enjoy your visit and thank you for your attention!
My brother didn't believe that computer games kill me.
It just so happens that I watch horror movies almost from the diapers. We loved to include some horror movie in the evenings with my father, my mother went to another room, as she does not like this genre of cinema. Maybe it did, maybe it did, but it’s very hard for me to find a movie that scares me. Horrors that caused at least tremors can be counted on the fingers of one hand. Staying alive is not scary for me personally. But it's one of my five favorite horrors. I really like the plot, the manner of shooting, amazingly interesting actors, so I often watch this film.
The plot is quite simple: the main character dies a friend testing computer games. He gets into the hands of an underground game, and his friends persuade him to play it. But they don’t yet know that once they plug the game in, they’ll be caught in the crosshairs of dark, unknown forces.
The cast is, in my opinion, beautiful. John Foster, although not very well known to me, but I'm the whole film just admire him.Samer Armstrong Before trying on the image of the clever Nell from "The Boy in the Girl", to change to blond (which is not so suitable for her), naturally screamed and cried when you need to in "Lost".Frenkie Mooniz and here somehow reminds me of Cody Banks, who is trying to save everyone and everything. I don’t know if it’s good or bad, but I like it. Sophia Bush's October reminds me of myself. This is all Gothic, is fond of mysticism. In addition, my brother, like Fin, performed by the incomparable Jimmy Simpson, whom I adore from Virtuality, is also obsessed with computer games.
Special thanks to the director for appearing on the screen, albeit for a couple of minutes, Milo Ventimiglia. Even this small role of Loomis pleases my eye. And in the end, it is impossible not to mention the Countess Elizabeth Battori, thanks to whom the whole story appeared. This role went to the Russian beauty Maria Kalinina. Well, she has no words, and I can kill a couple of people, but the makeup is gorgeous, just a hundred points for makeup guys.
The music is amazing. Sad, just to the pain in the chest, the melody on the piano every time almost brings me to tears. And this vibrating of the game consoles when the danger approached on the first view made my whole body goosebump.
I really liked the graphics of the computer game itself, although my brother spoke obscenely about it. Well, he knows better, I think computer games are a waste of time. I think that's the kind of game I would play. I really liked the cemetery and the countess' estate.
In general, for me, the film is something of an aesthetically pleasing pastime. For people who are afraid of horror movies, it seems scary. An hour and a half of your life will not be wasted.
The film is based on the story of Countess Elizabeth Bathory, who was famous for her cruelty and bloodlust. She allegedly took on the service of young girls ... and in the evenings loved to take blood baths, believing that the blood of virgins rejuvenates her.
The action of the film takes place in our time and begins with the fact that the young man tests the game of the genre of survival horror. The situation in the game really tenses, the guy begins to rush in fright around the house and eventually dies. That same night, death overtakes him as it did in the game. This is actually the story of the movie.
And the guys who decided to play in memory of a friend would disappear if their company did not have Gotessa, who knew old grandmother's fairy tales and read the book malleus maleficarum, which is translated from Latin as a hammer of witches. Although the Countess was not a witch, the book inexplicably helped bring her soul back to her body. Elizabeth Bathory lived in Hungary, but in the middle of the film, the characters being in the United States miraculously fall into the possession of the bloody Countess. Well, the main character - Huch is generally a guy anywhere, did not have time to bury his girlfriend already got a new one.
The diary of the Countess before entering the game, as a kind of screensaver that cannot be boiled, catches up with horror and, perhaps, it is from this moment that it becomes interesting to watch.
The film itself is atmospheric and makes you nervous at some points. I suggest you watch it.
Admit it: no matter how much we are convinced that everyone in the West plays from small to great, few people believe it. The voices of supporters of “ban and not let go” are too loud, the money spinning in the gaming industry is too ridiculous (the income from the average game is incomparable with the income from the average film), the games themselves are too expensive to be truly mass entertainment (when the price of the PlayStation 3 was announced, all Western players almost stood on end). However, the appearance of such films as Stay Alive suggests that things are not so bad in the Danish kingdom. Stay Alive is not a film adaptation of a particular game, but this is exactly what it is interesting: if filmmakers began to make films about games aimed not at fans (who then drag the rest of the audience), but at the widest audience, then this same audience is already familiar enough with the subject to understand what it is about.
And we are talking about the game Stay Alive, which, like the ill-fated videotape from "Call", becomes a curse for everyone who played it. "Freaky game," says one of the first candidates for the dead Hutch, the main character of the film. Like Fatal Frame, only cooler!" ("Fatal Frame" - very famous on consoles survival horror. - Note.). When the Stay Alive CD gets to Hutch (of course, by inheritance), he has no better idea than to gather all his friends and arrange a co-op session. Six idiots put on an audio headset, take up gamepads, chorus read on the start screen a spell (otherwise the game flatly refused to log in) and fall into a sinister-looking estate. The estate is teeming with monsters, but the main danger is not they, but the Blood Countess, the mistress of this place and the local superboss. The first frag is the head of the main character, who was alone in his office at that time (they played over the Internet). Having finished the game, the boss turns off the computer and is going to go home, but at this time some kind of devilish thing begins to happen around: the door opens by itself, the gamepad is turned off vibrating, obscure silhouettes flash behind the back.
And then begins the natural "destination point ": boys and girls demonstrate the wonders of stupidity, refuse to believe in the obvious-unbelievable (horror movies should have been watched), and therefore die one by one. Soon they still realize that the death of friends is not a chain of fatal accidents, but quite a natural coincidence, and begin to take action.
“Lost” is a classic horror movie. From the very first minutes of the film, it becomes obvious that most of the characters here are destined to play the role of cannon fodder, it only matters how and in what sequence they die. This scheme was invented by cinema thirty years ago (if not more), and during this time the audience learned it by heart. Contemporary horrors of this kind are still trying to scare, but they do it as if by inertia, just because “it is necessary.” Well, a monster will jump out from around the corner, well, flashes in the mirror some cranksaw - and then what? All this has been seen a thousand times, so the viewer has to be held back in a different way - colorful pictures of death and constant hints of when it will happen. Think of Destination. At first, we were hinted that the next victim would burn in his apartment, but he did not burn. Then we are hinted that it will crash, going down the fire escape - but in spite of everything does not break. Then the victim slips on the garbage, falls - and finally gets a ladder in the eye.
So, Stay Alive God himself ordered to mow under the "destination point" - but for some reason this does not happen. Characters are used hastily and without any imagination, there are no beautiful deaths in sight, and such horror films cannot boast of anything else in principle. It is pointless to look for acting and good dialogue in the film, where phrases such as “Here you are going to be gassed there and die” are expressed.
So it turns out that the only thing worth going to Stay Alive for is a topic close to us. Of course, there are a lot of mistakes here: the main character advises his boss to use a hyperblaster in Silent Hill 4, although in fact this weapon was only in the first part, Stay Alive is called an underground game (you just think - underground game!) and easily run on any platforms (albeit on PC, at least on PS2), and so on in the same spirit. Hardcore players among the creators of the film was clearly not, and with actual errors, they especially did not bother – the mass audience will still not notice them. And an audience like you and I will notice these mistakes, but they will immediately forgive. For my own, dear.
Stay Alive leaves about the same feeling as Hollywood films with the participation of “positive” Russians: it seems to be nonsense, but for the power (in this case, for the games) is pleasant.
3 out of 10
I don’t know what inspired me to write this movie. I watched it a long time ago and I don’t even remember seeing it at all. I will try to be brief and just tell you who and why this film might like.
If you like games like Silent Hill or Resident Evil, have been fascinated (like me) by Amnesia: The Dark Descent, if that kind of thing scares you, then this movie might scare you as well. Personally, for me, computer reality is something mystical. I've always been scared of games like this. And when I saw the game in the movie, I literally shivered. Probably, it is easy to scare me, but when an unidentified creature crawling on the walls appears on the monitor screen, which I am offered to cope with (albeit not with my own hands), the nerves begin to nag.
And the idea of the film, I think, is close to many survival horror gamers: what if something like this happens in reality? How to save yourself and not go mad?
In general, the film impressed me. I think people who understand will find something in it. Of course, this is not a masterpiece, you can not put a ten, but it definitely pulls on the top five thanks to the atmosphere and an interesting idea.
At first glance, this film seems a typical youth “horror”, in fact, it is, but something distinguishes it from a number of other similar films.
Let's try to figure it out. Everything seems as usual: there are a number of superficially drawn characters - young people who begin to die one by one. The principle of this chain: died in a computer game - died in life. The reception is essentially old as the world, but it works flawlessly: you cannot escape fate. Footage of the computer game is very plausible, hands and stretch to play, which is probably designed, because you begin to think that if you were in a similar situation, you would certainly play.
The film has some real basis: Countess Bathory did exist, however, with the light hand of American screenwriters she was transferred from Hungary to America; one should not, of course, trust other facts presented in the tape. However, the presence of a real name gives the film some zest. Usually, playing with history doesn’t lead to anything good, but Countess Bathory lived so long that everything related to her fate has an impenetrable mythological aura, so using this name is frightening, but not depressing. Countess Bathory wants revenge on all young and alive through a computer game based on her story. The origin of this game remains a mystery.
In addition to the usual elements of a horror film, there is a certain dramatic element in this tape - the story of one of the characters, which undoubtedly adds to the film's scores. It should be said that the essence of this film is not in the murder scenes, which are very chaste, but in psychologicalism, because everyone wants to stay alive.
The cast, in my opinion, can not but please. Of course, there are no large-scale actors here, but everyone who plays in this film has a track record of many positions. I would especially like to mention Samar Armstrong, John Foster and Frankie Muniz, whom many may know for the title role in the films about the adventures of Agent Cody Banks (I think he looks much better in Lost). These guys, at least, look nice, and some emotions on their faces are present, which you will not find in every film of this kind.
It should be noted that there are moments that seemed unpredictable to me, for obvious reasons I will not specify. The ending, if I may say so, is pleasant and not worn out.
There is some freshness, originality, a slightly different vision in this film. Perhaps the reason is that for William Brent Bell this is only his second directorial work, and he did not have time to blur his eyes.
In general, a very good youth horror film and quite suitable for spending the evening! I advise fans of light “horror movies”, and gamers may also like this movie.
