Having staged two films from the Jurassic Park series, director Steven Spielberg decided not to take up this story as a director and transferred this right to his colleague Joe Johnston. And in 2001, the third part of the franchise was released, which critics and viewers liked a little less than the past, and nevertheless it was still distinguished by interesting ideas and memorable action scenes.
If we talk about the plot, it tells us the story of the rescue of a boy who was alone on the island of Sorna, where even an adult to survive is almost impossible. The child’s parents, Paul and Amanda Kirby, are in disheveled feelings, as they can not find their son on their own, and therefore they have to seek help from armed mercenaries, as well as Dr. Alan Grant, who once survived in the jungle with dinosaurs.
Alan himself is in no hurry to return to the monster-infested forest. However, he is left with no choice when an unexpected accident occurs and he and the Kirby family come face to face with prehistoric monsters. But the most important thing is to find the guy and get back to civilization as soon as possible. Yes, only this time the dinosaurs around becomes many times more and it is very difficult to cope with them, because they are hungry and extremely dangerous.
In comparison with the previous parts in this film has become much more action and computer graphics. Director Joe Johnston thought that the conversations of the audience now certainly not surprising, and therefore he bet on constantly going forward action and an abundance of spectacular episodes. Of the new dinosaurs, it is worth highlighting first of all pterodactyls, which now not only fly into sunset over the sea, but take part in the hunt for people and look as dangerous as possible.
Of the characters, the most attention is, of course, Dr. Alan Grant, played again by Sam Neal. We know him well and he may or may not bring any surprises, yet the character is full of charisma and knows what to do to survive in an area where literally anything can kill you. I also liked the scenes between Neil and Laura Dern, who returned to the role of Dr. Sattler, but her screen time was extremely limited. And yet, despite this, the authors managed to put between the characters several very emotional scenes.
Jurassic Park 3 is an interesting and dynamic blockbuster that tells a tense story. The abundance of scenes with computer graphics is not a problem at all and shows us what Steven Spielberg simply could not do before due to technical aspects. But now we see the beauty of the dinosaur world as it should be.

The triquel departs from the original as much as possible, demonstrating greater development and survival on the island. This is still the open end of the first Park, because we're moving to dinosaur-inhabited islands. Suspense in the exhibition immediately says about whom in this chapter will be discussed. Is the island with dinosaurs a closed area? Oh, yeah, what am I saying? In the “Lost World” there was a family, to which Velociraptors stopped for dinner. Here the resting child and adult learn the beauty of the island.
While Steven Spielberg was shooting from Stanley Kubrick’s script Artificial Intelligence, director Joe Johnston sat in the director’s chair. What did Johnson shoot before the dinosaur triquel? "Honey, I've shrunk the kids," "Jumanji," "Lord of the Pages." Therefore, we have turned from a dangerous action movie with a hunt for predators “Jurassic Park” into a well-known scenario: saving children. This approach, especially after the wild hunt in the second installment, took a step back in the franchise. What's the result? Nomination for “Golden Raspberry” and “freezing” of the project until 2015.
To attract fans, the director brought back Sam Neal and a bit of Laura Durne, showing the continuation of the story about the archaeologist. The plot brings the Nile to the second island in Costa Rica to show what the father and mother are willing to go to save their son. Unfortunately, Sam and Laura’s storyline didn’t evolve the way they wanted to after the first film, but it did separate the characters. The main instigators of the trip to the island were a couple - William H. Macy and Thea Leoni. This is where the first inaccuracies came in.
First of all, we only know about the second island. It's like the first island we only learned in the sequel. Plus, it's easy to hit. Second, we're looking for a boy. A boy who went missing in predatory terrain eight weeks ago. Do you think he survived?! The plot allows us to walk around the island, meet dinosaurs, but something is missing. This is a jungle where dinosaurs hunt. In general, it has its own ecosystem with an established food chain. The new meat has arrived.
Equipment of people leaves much to be desired. For some reason, only Sam Neal is afraid, but he is the only one who has seen what predators are capable of. The rest of us are stupid. Due to the weak swing, where we have only six people, we are watching for survival. Attacks of velociraptors are still bloodthirsty, deceptive maneuvers and escape from predators cause the very emotions that the viewer received from watching the first film. The tape picks up steam when we see the reason dinosaurs want to catch humans but not eat.
Some ideas are beautifully implemented, but behind the foolish search and attempt to escape, we see them – pterodactyls. That's why it was worth the inaccuracies. Egg hunt (no wolf), feeding, Luftwaffe attack from above to lead Sam Neal onto the path of connoisseur and leader. The picture gives a bit of drama to show how to survive when trapped. The climax is achieved simply and smoothly, but not without a fight with a predator.
After Tyrannosaurus was placed in a metropolis in The Lost World, returning to the island also took a step back. The motives of the picture are clear, but we did not get a hunt, but survival and flight. I still wonder how the guy survived the jungle because even the military couldn't handle the dinosaur attack. Terrifying footage is present, enclosed spaces, traps, exit at the last minute - the film gives the usual tricks, but we are not here for thrashing and non-stop reduction in the number of people, but for the sake of demonstrating dinosaurs.
It's beautiful. The tape is saved by the development of the story of Sam Neal and the new dinosaurs, the rest had to be postponed. So the Quadriquel lay on the shelf, so that fourteen years later we would meet the sequel rebuke.
I really didn't like the second part. At the time, it seemed to me like it was dark and rainy. I understand the darkness and the rain were also in the original film, but it looked atmospheric. And in the second to all this rain adds a tedious scenario.
I couldn’t watch the third part for a long time. As a rule, the further, the worse. So why not be upset. However, I can immediately say that the third film, although, of course, not even near the original, but for me it is better than the second part.
Spielberg is no longer filming here, and the story no longer applies to the works of Michael Crichton. But from the very first minutes - warm to the heart - the characters of the first part, played by Sam Neil and Laura Dern, return. However, the latter was not given as much screen time as I would like.
The plot tells us that paleontologist Alan Grant will have to get to an abandoned island with terrible predators because the couple, who in turn suggested he just fly over the island to enjoy the views, once lost a son there. And now, getting into this terrible situation, Alan Grant goes in search of both the son of this married couple and the opportunity to quickly escape from this island.
I liked the story itself. Even if there were quite strange actions of the characters, let it, in my opinion, there are holes and a fairly large number of scenes that are not necessary for the narrative at all, but the situation when people are in danger, limited to some particular place, always adds interest to viewing.
In fact, it would be great if Neal's character was alone on this island. Or at least with your partner. Since the couple is terribly unnerved by the constant shouting of his son’s name, in the hope that he will respond, and the rest of the team also do nothing significant for the plot, but are simply extras to show us scenes of hunting and tearing off their limbs by dinosaurs.
Speaking of dinosaurs. I think the special effects for 2001 are very good. That was really good. As well as the fact that we showed more dinosaur species this time.
And in general, to summarize, I want to note that the film is not bad. But it doesn’t have the most important thing – the amazing atmosphere that saturated the first film. Still, there is a feeling that this is another attempt (albeit not so bad) to dance a little on the bones of the original to earn money.
This is the third part of the original trilogy of Jurassic Park. In my opinion, with each film, this trilogy is weaker. If I think the previous two are good, especially the first one, I am neutral. There are both pros and cons of the tape, which I will discuss below.
Let's start with the plot. In particular, it is nothing new. This time the hero of the first picture Alan Grant returned to the main role. By the way, this is one of the pluses in the piggy bank of the work. But he has his own family and doesn’t want to take part in any more deadly adventures. However, he is approached by the Kirby family to act as an expert and pledge funding. They should not land on the island while remaining in flight. But soon it turns out that the family has completely different plans and in fact their son disappeared on the island and they came to look for him. Of course, the previous parts did not have a big twisted script, but this is the third picture and everything is quite banal. But it's just a bundle, it's not the main thing.
I suggest you touch on the visual component. This aspect is central to me in this series of works. In general, everything looks good, but still there are several complaints. The creators tried to make more dinosaurs in the frame, but periodically the use of computer graphics catches the eye. I believe that this is a flaw that has not been noticed before. And in some scenes too ragged editing. The picture sometimes begins to turn into turmoil, because of which the overall scene deteriorates. It's from a piece and a joint of camera work. This is most evident in the Spinosaurus scenes, I think because it is the most difficult dinosaur to draw. But the upside I want to take is that they've added new species that we haven't seen before. Also, there is still a suspense and inner anxiety, because at any moment the characters can get into a dangerous position.
Other qualities. If I have already touched on the subject of characters, I want to say that the new faces did not cause me much empathy. Sometimes they do stupid things, of course, it can be explained by a stressful situation, but still. Besides, you don't want to, but in the background of Alan or compared to the heroes of previous films, they lose. But if we add some positives, we can hear the main theme of the franchise again. I was upset that it was removed in the sequel, but it's the right decision to bring it back now. Well, working with sound does not raise questions.
Over. Not bad, but with a lot of problems. You can still see it and enjoy it, but the shortcomings catch your eye. So I can say that if after the first two pictures you have a desire to plunge into this world again, then you can see. Otherwise, you can pass by.
Well, a lot of people started spitting (Imdb score and did jump over five), but... I also really, really like this movie. Yes, it can be very easy to criticize, but I absolutely do not want to do this.
Are there any stupid moments in the tape? Yeah. But all this is offset by the fact that this is still a cool adventure, which does not tire you with endless stuffy gatherings of the main characters, but rushes like a locomotive from the opening scene straight to the credits. Seriously, the movie goes only an hour and a half and during this time manages to do everything to entertain the viewer.
Yeah, a lot of people buried this movie because of the T-Rex murder in the beginning, but... Man, are you serious? There was too much in the first two parts! His replacement with Spinosaurus did not disappoint me. On the contrary, it was interesting to look at new species, because Raptors and Tyrannosauruses are already tired.
Well, there are the first ones here too, and here they have somehow tried to improve. It didn’t work out very well, but in general it was normal. Add to this an awesome scene with pterodactyls and get a strong adventure film, which is now most lacking (especially when you watch all sorts of misunderstandings like “Jungle Cruise”).
The creators realized that Malcolm turned out bad, and returned Alan Grant. I liked him a lot more, but his relationship with Ellie was a shame. Really, why did their relationship go down the toilet? There were literally zero reasons for that! And it didn't even get anywhere, so we could have left them as a couple.
But I love dinosaurs too much, and very few movies have made them. I am willing to forgive these shortcomings.
The best thing that ever happened to Jurassic Park!
I don’t know why, but I like the third part of many franchises much more than the originals. That's what I've had with Transformers, Pirates of the Caribbean, Ice Age and even Jurassic Park. The first picture, which put Steven Spielberg I consider brilliant, both from the plot and from the graphics. The triquel was directed by Joe Johnston, who also directed Jumanji. As for me, Joe did a great job, the plot is simple and predictable, but I was satisfied. It's an adventure film that I think takes a little bit of detail from the fourth episode of Star Wars. What was the fourth episode? This is an obvious quest in which you need to fly from point A to point B, having completed some task. Jurassic Park 3 does the same thing, only in a different style.
My impression was also colored by the cast, Sam Neal, who was in the first film here all the same cool, charismatic, his assistant Billy is also well played. Our dubbing did not blow up either, and did everything perfectly. Some will say that the special effects of this film are better than their two predecessors, but I don’t think so. $93 million for 2001, where dinosaurs have a lot of screen time of this amount is not enough, in the scene when the characters were looking at dinosaurs from an airplane with pause, dinosaurs do not look very beautiful. And the main star of the film is the largest of the existing dinosaurs - Spinosaurus. It was a great idea, instead of Tyrannosaurus on the main killer put Spinosaurus. There is also a battle between two dinosaurs, which is one of the best battles in this series. Well, in general, here are all my complaints and encouragement of this film, so the bottom line: this is a great adventure film, in which great special effects, acting, medium plot, great Russian dubbing, a steep battle between two dinosaurs and I will not even regret it.

That’s just the franchise began to pass, as Spielberg gave way to a more competent in terms of simple adventure and charming paintings Joe Johnston. This guy, before working with dinosaurs, shot the brilliant "Jumanji" and "Honey, I shrunk the kids." The director knew about family films firsthand and rolled out a wonderful, but stupid film in 2001.
It is in the third picture you can find all the most entertaining and dynamic in the entire trilogy. Less talk -- more action and dinosaurs, this time drawn at a very, very high level. The gloomy atmosphere of the sequel as if there was no, the island of Sorna is filled with colors more than.
Scenario, however, the work was pumped up. The story is very simple and predictable. Phenomenally ordinary characters escape huge monsters in a surprisingly standard way. The eye is happy. A purely aesthetic pleasure can be obtained. You can watch Jurassic Park 3 without being tied to the first two movies, you won’t lose anything. Out of the trilogy, this “Park” is second only to the brilliant original, which, in my opinion, will always be the best in this franchise.
Dr. Alan Grant returns to the world of dinosaurs, this time to help rich parents find in the forbidden jungle of his own son, who went on vacation with not the most reliable companion. Realizing all the dangers, Grant nevertheless can not refuse the deal, as it promises him good money that can help in further work with the fossils. But, as you would expect, the whole plan goes downhill and now the mission of salvation itself requires help.
In principle, the shooting of the third part of Jurassic Park was not necessary at all, but since the franchise brings money, it is a sin to refuse it. Steven Spielberg decided that he personally had enough directing, and therefore put Joe Johnson in his place. Of course, I can’t say that he came out with an exemplary blockbuster, but there is no sense of acute disappointment either. Probably due to the fact that the second part of the Park carried a lot of shortcomings.
I was glad that the plot again found a place for the hero Sam Neal, but Jeff Goldblum did not return to the project, waiting for Jurassic World 2. Our old friend Dr. Grant is still energetic and seems to have not aged at all.
I was a little disappointed by Thea Leoni, a pretty and confident actress who had to play mostly hysterical in this film. However, William H. Macy did not perform well. But Sam Neil took advantage of the situation and played well.
In general, “Jurassic Park 3” turned out to be such an optional entertainment for fans of the original. The movie is beautiful, it has new dinosaurs and old Dr. Grant. This is enough to have fun.
In 2001, Jurassic Park 3 was released, directed by Joe Johnston. Despite the fact that the books of Michael Crichton, on which this franchise is shot, only two, after watching the third part you understand that Johnston was able to fully convey the atmosphere of novels, without which we would not be able to enjoy spectacular shots with long-extinct animals.
First of all, Johnston made the film in a way that never knew how to shoot Spielberg — dark and frightening. Every next danger is more terrifying than the last, and when trouble comes, it’s not one – just what Michael Crichton has written. The annoying and inappropriate humor is removed, and the plot is based on motifs and numerous scenes from the novels - all that Spielberg missed. The action takes place again on the island of Sorna, and the main characters must search for a missing man in the jungle - a respectful reference to the Lost World. However, instead of Ian Malcolm, Alan Grant, so beloved by fans, returns to the third film. And, predictably, we can fully enjoy episodes with his participation, which were not in the very first film. This is a collision with pterosaurs, and a desperate escape from the Deinonychs (which – what a joy! – here ceased to be called Velociraptors), and even a collision with a terrible predator in the middle of the river. But what a predator! . .
Another aspect for which the director deserves resounding applause is that he took into account the scientific errors of the first two films and showed the dinosaurs as they were really imagined at the time of 2001. Brachiosaurs no longer rise on their hind legs, Deinonychs have hints of plumage, and Tyrannosaurus is no longer the largest predator in the Park. It gives way to an older Spinosaurus, which was then still considered a bipedal creature. And even after the release of the worthless "Jurassic World", Spinosaurus from the third part is perceived as the most creepy creature recreated by Ingen. He has a terrifying growl, angry eyes, and in doing so he purposefully pursues the main characters - something that Tyrannosaurus was supposed to do in the first film. One can not but praise the third part for the Deinonychs, who seem to be about to talk - so clever they are. Again, this is borrowed from the original source, for which a huge thank you to the director.
Sam Neil is still unmatched as Alan Grant. It is difficult to imagine any other actor in his place. Almost all the main characters of the third film have book prototypes - this applies to Billy (Alessandro Nivola), and Judeschi (Michael Jeter), and Eric (Trevor Morgan), and Ben (Mark Harelik). All of them are played by good actors, so the whole film is a perfect interpretation of both books. Quite successfully they are complemented by new heroes – Paul (William Macy) and Amanda Kirby (Thea Leoni). Unspeakably pleased and the small appearance of Ellie Sattler, which again plays Laura Dern.
Finally, it is worth noting that the music for the third part was written by such a wonderful composer as Don Davis. He respected the compositions of the previous two films written by John Williams and created the most worthy addition of all possible.
As a result, Joe Johnston made a very respectful act with his film, for which all fans of Michael Crichton’s work should be grateful to him. But, unfortunately, movies are more criticized by the audience, as it is more mass phenomenon than books. So the third “Jurassic Park” did not find recognition among those who became blind and crazy fanatics of Spielberg’s film alone, and do not recognize anything that can be different from it. With sincere joy and gratitude I put ten points out of ten. Thank you so much, Johnston!
The third film... I have mixed feelings for him. I wouldn’t say it’s a disgusting movie, I wouldn’t say it’s a parasite on Park. But I wouldn’t call it a masterpiece either.
What I want to say right away is that the film has some charm, some very attractive atmosphere of an abandoned and lost island. I really enjoyed returning to the island of Sorna and discovering other locations that were not visible in the second part. Dark and vintage tone, I would say, corresponds to the picture, music in this case also helps.
With the characters, unfortunately, everything is not so smooth. Returning Alan Grant is quite well received. Like Malcolm in the second part, he became more serious and began to look at everything pessimistically and through dark glasses. He was also pleased with his interaction with Eric - young and inquisitive along with the old and sullen. However, they sympathize well with each other and this is not perceived as something bad. That's where the pros end. The rest of the characters are gray and nondescript. I would have safely forgotten most of it. They don’t play a big role and that’s it.
Dinosaurs came out as well as ever. The Jurassic Park franchise is famous for providing truly cool and live dinosaurs. Even background herbivores come in and remember. What can I say, dinosaurs are just gorgeous. No film before and after the Park trilogy has ever boasted of truly stunning and high-quality giants of the past.
Now a little bit about sad. Raptors. It's a double-edged sword. On the one hand, the scenes with them turned out to be successful, the raptors themselves are cool. But! For some reason, they do not look like their counterparts from the previous parts. Why they made such cosmetic changes without explanation, it is absolutely impossible to understand. And secondly, they again hit the extreme: in the first film, the raptors were moderately cunning and aggressive predators, in the second part they hit the extreme - they became too aggressive and at the same time unsophisticated and stubborn. And here they are overkill with intelligence - they communicate, plan something, arrange ingenious ambushes, which some hunters will envy. Don’t make animals smart like humans, that’s beyond the realm.
And now the one who has raised the most doubts about himself is Spinosaurus. Some of the scenes with him were very cool. But that was worth stopping at. This dinosaur would suit rather the type of mysterious and secretive hunter from the water. But not a competitor of Tyrannosaurus in the rank of alpha predator. Whether he is even a hundred times larger, I cannot consider a super-predator someone who walks with a thin neck, thin and long curved jaws and excess hair on his back. This is not so impressive compared to a Tyrannosaurus that has a powerful mouth, thick neck and coarse body. It's a paradox how many dinosaur projects I've seen in movies and games and wherever there's been an attempt to make Spinosaurus cooler than Tyrannosaurus, the result has been so-and-so.
So it's not a bad movie. Not the best in quadrology, but the shame of the series to call the language it will turn.
I am a person who grew up in the Jurassic Park trilogy. And this part I always singled out among others and looked almost to the holes. Of course, for most people, the best part of the franchise is first, and it’s hard to argue with that. But for me personally, this part is the best and favorite. Why? I will try to explain below.
This part was not directed by Steven Spielberg. Michael Crichton did not have a sequel after The Lost World and he hardly touched the script of this film. It seemed that the film was destined to fail or simply fade in the shadow of the glory of past films. Part of it happened. This is the least known and least critically acclaimed part of the series. I think the film was underestimated. Someone may complain about the change of director. Like, if Spielberg failed to outdo himself in Jurassic Park: The Lost World, then why try anyone else? I can't say Jo Johnson is a bad director. Many people remember him for the films "Jumanji" or "Honey, I reduced the children", and even one of his films is in the Top 250 from KinoPoisk. But there are also very passable pictures, for example, "The First Avenger". We can say that the director was chosen correctly. From the previous cast only Sam Neal appeared. But new actors also do well with their roles. But there is not a single mention of heroes who were not already in this film. Although pleasant references could improve the film.
The idea and plot of the film is interesting. It was only here that they showed survival as it should look. It was very interesting to watch the heroes. Thanks for the new dinosaurs. The creators correctly decided that Tyrannosaurus in the role of the “villain” is outdated, and Spinosaurus was added to replace it. He looks great. But the problem is that this dinosaur didn't exist in the past, and there's no explanation. But fine with this Spinosaurus, but the addition of flying lizards - pterodactyls, about which there was no mention in previous parts, is not considered at all in my opinion. It's small, but it's still a fluff. I don't like them.
I was very pleased with the effects. Steven Spielberg could hardly be surpassed, but it was quite possible to stay at his level.
A worthy sequel, which in the entire trilogy can share the first place with the first part. For the challenge of nostalgic feelings, you can close your eyes to the inconsistencies of the plot with the past parts.

But already about the "Jurassic World", we can say - an extra continuation for "cutting" money.
Egrh! Egrh!.." (a name coined by my two-month-old daughter)
Yeah, that's true. She's small, but she's on the subject. We watched together. She said that about the first part. Here's what I'll say, but about the third:
I sat down to watch it just to wrap up with Jurassic Parks. Because if I liked the first one, the second one isn't. I didn't expect anything good from the third. Somehow it started, which only began to confirm the sad statistics of sequels, triquels and other xvels. But then everything got better!
I would like to talk about the disadvantages. They don't do much good. The plot is a little stretched. But it's for quitting. Then everything was taken everyday and solemnly. But also — somehow crumpled the names of dinosaurs on the same object “B”. But it may be the vicissitudes of Russian dubbing. In the end, where the Velociraptor, where Spinosaurus ... Well, for the uninitiated. Of course we can. The latter has a crest on his back. Hence the name.
And in the story on the island lost the boy (how, why and why — this will be reported from the screen). But Dr. Alan — or Sam Neal (for the viewer) — will not be told the reason. He will be taken to the island.
Well, then there are adventures, the meaning of which will be the search for a boy who disappeared in the world of dinosaurs 8 weeks ago and get out if you want - also desirable. The plot is somewhat simple, on the one hand, on the other - why invent a bicycle and step on the throat of your own song! .
The main feature of the picture Joe Johnston (no longer Spielberg) becomes an adventure! And that's good!
Excellent, literally the icing on the cake looks like a fight Tyrannosaurus with Spinosaurus. However, the result of this fight is not what it can be in such a case. I was a little confused and saw that the winner in 80% of cases should have been the wrong one. But...
And also - a short tape turned out on timekeeping. But maybe that's a good thing. What are the extra meters of film?
I recommend the third part, even bypassing the second. Honestly! The second is more like a pass. She is already on the verge of “good” with “not very”. The third border on “good” and “very good”!
Good to see you!!
After Steven Spielberg and Michael Crichton finished working on the famous story about dinosaurs, and limited to two parts of this fantastic thriller, the success of the legendary dilogy did not give the filmmakers peace - came low-budget "Carnosaurus", which in Wikipedia is listed as a mockbuster for "Jurassic Park". But it was an unofficial film that received mostly negative reviews. And then suddenly on the screens came a triquel to the favorite hit film about dinosaurs who inhabited an exotic island. It was shot by a completely different team, but it did not make the third part worse than the first two - on the contrary, the third part, although it was inferior to the first in scale (well, here it is unlikely that anyone will beat Spielberg, if he set a record), but ahead of the second part in the dynamics of the plot. The second part is good, but it does not boil blood like the first. The director of the third part managed to organize a grand adventure for his heroes, forcing them to enter into an unequal battle with ancient predators.
Almost from the beginning of the film, barely hitting the infamous island inhabited by dinosaurs, the characters are in danger and lose two people, after which they have to find the son of the protagonist. Like the second part, the triquel consists mainly of fights between heroes and predators, but it looks not banal, but more than exciting, lacking only interesting science fiction, which half consisted of the first part. The special effects, surprisingly, are no worse than in the first two parts, despite the change of director, moreover, the triquel shows even more different breeds of dinosaurs, including peteradactyl, which we could also see in the TV movie "Pterodactyl" in 2005, which, despite the low-budget, is staged quite qualitatively, but it shows only flying dinosaurs. In Jurassic Park 3, this species of dinosaur is given very little time, but there is also a scene in which a flying predator grabs a person, takes him with him and throws him into the nest for food to the cubs. In the above-mentioned low-budget film, this was shown with an emphasis on horror, that is, with an abundance of blood and meat, here cost more than a beautifully staged action. The whole film is one continuous attraction, created for the delight of fans of fiction, in particular, on the theme of ancient predators. Almost perfect film, fans of the genre will appreciate.
"Jurassic Park 3" - the continuation of the acclaimed franchise about dinosaurs, which fell in love with viewers around the world. This part is no longer a film adaptation, but only uses some excerpts from the books of Michael Crichton.
This time, as director Steven Spielberg was replaced by Joe Johnston, who was eager to shoot another part. I am very glad that he was not allowed to do this, as, in my opinion, the change of director did not go to the picture for good.
The only thing more or less impressive about this film is the special effects. Otherwise, the picture is banal to the point of impossibility. Cons, at least reduce:
1. Plot. It's awful, boring and banal. These are rather videos about the heavy everyday life of Spinosaurus, somehow connected by some line resembling a plot and a chain of events.
2. The cast . The only plus in the cast is Sam Neal as Dr. Alan Grant. He's the only one who's got something. The rest of you... More stupid and uninteresting characters than in this film, I probably never met. Remember in virginity there was a series "Calambur", and there was a section "Village of Fools"? So, the feeling that the main characters came from there, only without makeup. Absolutely nobody impressed. And without Jeff Goldblum, who refused to star in this part, everything became completely dull and even Neil does not pull this picture.
3. Spinosaurus. But no, not like that, Terminatorosaur, that's what it should have been called. Why not? Running here is a machine the size of two T-Rexes and the brain of Albert Einstein; eats everyone in a row, throws tyrannosaurs and plays football with planes. And yet he just mega-epic neck with his “legs” twists and unnecessarily excited from the urine of T-Rex. At leisure, he breaks everything on his turn like a multi-ton maker who went off the rails. Comics about the hard everyday life of T-Rex, seem just a children's fairy tale in comparison. I don’t know what the writers smoked, but take me to this hemp field, maybe at least a fantasy will appear at the review and learn to write like a human.
It is also a mystery to me where this Terminatorosaur has climbed the previous two films. For two parts, the heroes climbed both islands up and down, and no hint of its existence! Agree, such a carcass would not go unnoticed. And here come to you, comrades - there is no known where, unexpectedly, unexpectedly, a miracle like this.
I was also killed by a duel of T-Rex and Spinosaurus, in which our short-legged friend was twisted neck, worse than in the action films. Even Chuck Norris and Old Arnie don't do that. These two dinosaurs lived on two different continents at different times. In addition, T-Rex reaches a height of about 6 meters and a weight of 7 tons, and Spinosaurus is 4 meters tall and weighs about 4 tons, although it is longer than the first. And here such fights without rules arranged that at least stand, at least fall. Yes, and without T-Rex, "Jurassic Park" is not at all "Jurassic Park".
4. Mutant dinosaurs. That is why I called my review so, because here the lizards are too cunning and reasonable, and if you consider how stupid the main characters are here, then everything looks simply unrealistic. In addition, they somehow learned to talk.
5. The absence of any kind of atmosphere. Terrible dialogue. Timekeeping is half an hour less than the first parts, but the third is very boring. And about deep thoughts or at least mediocre ideas, even dream not worth it.
In the end, I can say that this is a completely mediocre picture, which was shot by a great many. Not even close to the first two films. Definitely the worst part of the franchise.
The Jurassic Park triquel, unlike the two previous films, has no literary background, as Michael Crichton had a dilogy, not a trilogy of novels. But, quite unexpectedly, having lost a solid story support, which was not particularly used in the film adaptations (especially in the second part), the on-screen “Jurassic Park” nevertheless became the most spectacular and exciting in the series.
In the triquel, the aged Dr. Grant, the hero of the original film, is forced to come face to face again with the creations of the Ingen Corporation on the already shown in the sequel Object B - Sorna Island. At the same time, this time the audience is frightened not by tyrannosaurs, as in the previous two paintings, but by much more dangerous predators. Also, the heroes of the triquel will encounter flying dinosaurs for the first time.
It is worth noting that the third part of Jurassic Park turned out to be the darkest film in the series. The fact is that a significant part of the film takes place in the dark. Also, the third part was the most brutal, although the deaths in the film are much less in comparison with the same second part. And the dinosaurs in the triquel look for some reason the most creepy. Here it is most likely in more modern special effects in contrast to the previous paintings of the series. And the scenes of the chase from dinosaurs are more interesting. In the film, the atmosphere of absolute helplessness of man before the “extinct” species of animals is acutely felt.
The verdict. Oddly enough, the most spectacular picture in the series. Perhaps it is because it was invented from scratch.
"Conqueror of Jumanji" and "Lord of Pages" Joe Johnston takes on the third film about Jurassic Park, resurrected somewhere on the islands Costa Rica in 2001. Loudly it will be said, if you admit that the film turned out and was recognized, but he also could not, because the cult that arose around the first two parts, did its job, and the film did not fail at all.
But what went wrong and why the movie did not stand on a par with Spillberg’s parts, lagging behind them, like a more poorly trained athlete-runner, at the marathon race. After all, like a brachiosaurus here is no worse waving his neck under the main musical theme from John Williams and like no worse Dr. Grant (Sam Neal) pronouncing his speech, makes you kindle if not love, then at least predatory interest in such a topic as: "Velociraptors and their impossible-conditional, evolutionary leap, if the Raptors survived." After all, these ancient lizards were the most intelligent animals of the period, smarter than dolphins and whales, smarter than primates. And would live now on the planet some "rapto-people." "Uncle Dinosaur", as he unpretentiously called the son of the doctor Ellie Suttler (Laura Dern), pleases the frame, and most likely the eye with his presence in this film. In "Jurassic World" he will be missed, because his epicity would not be superfluous.
Nevertheless, the film became the starting point for "Clichelovism" received a not very pleasant nomination for "raspberry". In this film, the door to the cage will epically open itself, and at the time of running away from Spinosaurus, on the faces of the actors, there will be no anxiety and terrible fear. But there will be incomprehensible humor when the hero of William Macy copes with the “need” in a stream that drains into a small pond, from which the hero of the actor Alessandro Nivola drinks this water with fierce thirst. Or the already-highlight of parks, the scene of drowning hands in large piles of feces to search for a satellite phone that will always ring at the wrong time. And lost due to parasailing teenager Eric (Trevor Morgan) , who so confidently told his mother not to worry or worry about him, who lived side by side for eight months with predatory bastards, in the next scene will be easily caught by pteranodon, proving otherwise.
Vericting "Jurassic Park 3" I want to note not bad adventure, cognitive dialogue and diversity of dinosaurs, but the lack of a good script and weak directing, against the background of previous films, will not allow him to enter the lists of favorite blockbusters.
Third time. The third movie. Famous, but certainly not magnificent trilogy in the history of cinema. It is interesting that Joe Johnston really wanted to make Jurassic Park 2: The Lost World, but Steven Spielberg’s desire was, of course, more influential. But the master complacently promised the director "Jumanji" to give the "green light" to direct the third part. If Joe Johnston had taken up work on the second part, probably the audience would not have heard about the new movie with dinosaurs. But, as we can see, "Jurassic Park III" saw the light.
Since I have a collector’s edition of the entire trilogy, I have seen some of the additional material for the third film. Producer Kathleen Kennedy during the interview was so confident in the success of his production offspring that sometimes I wanted to believe her words about quality work on the triquel. Alas, let the plot be flavored in places with pleasant adventure moves, but in general it is close to a passing and indigestible version. Besides Alan Grant, other people are not so miserable, so it is better to observe dinosaurs with great pleasure.
Consultant of all films, paleontologist Jack Horner had to select in the triquel of new dinosaurs, which the audience has not yet seen. So, as good as Tyrannosaurus was, the “invitation” of Spinosaurus and Pteranodons was justified. The combination of animatronic technology with visual effects turned out to be, I confess, good, so for whom you can definitely be happy, it is for maestro Stan Winston and the company Industrial Light & Magic. These guys were really working hard. There are no complaints about them.
Here I want, on the one hand, to criticize the creators of "Jurassic Park III" and stick your review in red. Just a few "buts." Very suitable for viewing timekeeping, because in the second film had to endure all the attempts of the characters for two hours. Thea Leoni to the third "Park..." just wanted to take part in the filming with a large number of visual effects. Screenwriters Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor will receive their Oscars only 3 years later for the film On the curb, so many forgave them such a "part-time job". Finally, Joe Johnston expressed his hope that a huge amount of popcorn would be eaten during Jurassic Park III. Such people should be thanked at least for their honesty, for they worked on a purely entertaining product without moralizing or any teaching. Although the film can be perceived as a museum with revived exhibits and, thereby, learn together with the characters to understand the varieties of dinosaurs (I think this idea was expressed by Kathleen Kennedy). And that happens!
That's it. It was possible with a calm soul to say goodbye to the Park in 2001. But now we know for sure that "Jurassic World" will be released in June. What to expect - resounding success or complete collapse - no one knows yet. I remember the eccentric character of Jeff Goldblum in the first film assured everyone that life would break through. In the modern world, any desire of producers to earn even more money from famous franchises is sure to break through. It is only worth considering the fact that with each film, the franchise’s global box office steadily went down. But the desire of the producers is sure to break through.
For all those who thought The Lost World was an unworthy sequel to the first part, they got a slap in the face. Watching this movie creates a silent feeling that Joe Jones had to pass the film on time. Everything happens randomly, without prior circumstances. For example, in the first part, a meeting with Tyrannosaurus occurred at the time of the film, and preceded by a failure of technology near the aviary with a predator. In the sequel, a meeting with a large predator also occurred by the sixtieth minute and was caused by rash actions for the benefit of wild animals. In the third part of the film, the meeting was without any circumstances. In the twentieth minute, a group of hired specialists with weapons just ran out of the plane and began to scream on an island full of huge predators, this even in the film looks clumsy and imprudent.
The acting looks bad, only Alan Grant is happy. In general, if you could include a film without actors, and follow the dinosaurs movie would make more sense than what we see.
If the acting still slightly aroused interest, the script was clearly written rashly. Alan Grant agrees to fly over the island. After what happened to him? Are you serious? Imagine yourself in the place of this person, it is like shooting yourself. Eric behaves as if nothing special happened during his time on the island. For example, after the events of the first part, Jan Malcom became unrecognizable. Eric, on the other hand, behaves calmly, he extracts Tyrannosaurus urine, he runs freely into the pack of Velociraptors. A separate negative innovation of this film was a new hero, now it is not Tyrannosaurus, it is another predator Spinosaurus, which, according to scientists, ate a small fish, and during the battle with T-Rex, he should have died. The bite of the Tyrannosaurus is considered the strongest, the compression of the mouth he broke bones, but here, he just scratched his enemy. Velociraptors have become so intelligent that even humans have been unable to find a Velociraptor indoors. The film also acquired inappropriate humor and Alan Grant's dream on the plane confirms this. There were more dinosaurs, but the special effects did not get better, everything is still at the level of the first part.
In general, nothing but the word "dummy" comes to mind. Of the three parts, this film can be called the worst of the trilogy. If the first films were captured, then this film already at half an hour loses all meaning.

I dislike the first part for Spielberg the pyrotechnic, who entered into an alliance with Spielberg the moralist. But the wild sequel I consider much more successful because of the honest approach: the pyrotechnic plays pyrotechnics. It is clear that this director can shoot good thoughtful pictures, but at the same time he did not always succeed in teaching and entertaining.
Here Spielberg is only listed in the producers. In the director's chair sat the master of special effects Joe Johnston. Surprisingly, you will not find a visual feast in the film during the day with fire. At first, the lack of scale is annoying. It is a terrible thought that the authors decided to repeat the first film. Fortunately, this is not the case.
A surprisingly logical continuation of the story. Of course, people again act as curious idiots. But isn't that what happens in life? Almost none of the characters does not cause sympathy, which can be considered some merit of the picture. Spielberg’s people were idealists, victims of their own dreams, and here – idiots, hungry for earnings and a couple of good people who are already terribly tired of all this.
As in the previous two parts, there are many good actors playing elementary characters. In the authors of the script, you can see the wonderful director Alexander Payne. It is difficult to say which sides of the text he influenced, but the relationship of people here is still not very interesting.
As an action movie, it doesn't work either. A good part of the action is quiet dialogue and close-up plans. Dinosaurs appear primarily in the dark. Yes, there is a good combination of animatronics and computer graphics, but the scenes themselves were not memorable.
But here's what's amazing. The film is not exciting, but it does not look without interest. Aesthetically reminiscent of fantastic mini-series of the beginning of the two thousandth. Some cozy movie, but background. Pleasure is not for wide distribution, which showed a sharp drop in fees, coupled with sluggish criticism.
After a long break, Hollywood decided to return to the topic of dinosaurs. And in 2001, the third film from the famous series “Jurassic Park” was released.
The film takes place several years after the end of the second film. Two extreme flying hang gliders off the coast of the infamous Sorna Island. An accident happens and two adventurers find themselves on an island. One of them is the young son of the owner of the Kirby chain of stores. The parents decide to send an expedition in search of their son. It turns out that the paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant (the hero of the first film) is involved in the deceitful way. And only thanks to him, hapless parents have a chance to survive on an island inhabited by prehistoric reptiles.
The plot of the picture frankly loses to the previous parts. What happens on the screen sometimes causes confusion. Some things seem silly or too implausible. The plot is ill-conceived and underdeveloped.
To raise the audience’s interest, the creators returned the star of the first film by Sam Neil, who played Dr. Grant. Unfortunately, this did not help the painting very much. Since the selection of actors this time wants the best, as well as the characters of the characters. The fate and actions of the characters do not cause feelings in the viewer. A lot of people are annoying, like the boy’s mother. They wanted to make a parent experiencing terrible grief, and in the end they got a kind of unbalanced lady who caused nothing but antipathy.
The main advantage of the film is the dinosaurs. Prehistoric monsters look realistic and impressive. Especially Tyrannosaurus and Spinosaurus. The result of this fight for me personally is very doubtful. But as the writer and director say.
There is also good music in the film. Of course, we will not find a single bright melody in the film, except for the main theme of all the films in the series, which first appeared in the first film. However, the music from this tape fits well into what is happening on the screen and does not cut the hearing.
"Jurassic Park 3" is the average picture about dinosaurs inferior to the previous parts of the series. The film has a weak plot, and its only weighty plus is well-made prehistoric monsters. In general, getting acquainted with the picture makes sense if you are a fan of dinosaurs and the plot does not matter so much to you.

P. When I saw this movie for the first time, I was thrilled. But at the time, I was a kid who was into dinosaurs. And accordingly, the main thing for me was the prehistoric reptiles themselves, not the plot and actors. However, the film does not cause that childish delight. I hope that in the upcoming sequel, the authors will pay more attention to the plot and return the popularity of the dinosaurs, which recently noticeably slept.
Parents take with them a paleontologist who was already on the island of Sorna a few years ago to find his missing son. Meanwhile, on the island, dinosaurs became cunninger and scarier. Will people survive on the island?
The plot turned out quite interesting, the script is well written. It is a pity that David Koepp left, who wrote the script for the first two parts. Unlike the first two parts, the script was not based on a book by Michael Crichton. Because of this, it came out weaker than in the previous two parts.

Monsters
Dinosaurs are full. They are realistic in appearance, but not in behavior. It's about Spinosaurus. In reality, he was slow and not so strong, but here he was given the following abilities: to throw a Tyrannosaurus in the air, play ball with an airplane and eat people without chewing. The rest of the dinosaurs are great, but T-rex is painfully weak.

Special effects
We can be happy here, I have no complaints about them. They got even better, explosions are well done. Let me give you an example of a well-made shot from a signal rocket.

Acting game
They played well, but there is a claim. The character, played by actress Thea Leoni, is constantly scandalizing her son. But Sam Neal still plays his paleontologist character wonderfully. The character of Trevor Morgan, who played the husband’s son, is also remembered. There are no complaints about the rest either.

Directorial work
For example, there were no buildings on the island of Sorna before, and it has already been abandoned, and now there are some fences that did not exist. Also battled with Spinosaurus-it's too strong, and with Tyrannosaurus-it's too weak. It's also full of small blunders.

Music
It has not changed, is still remembered and fits in with the action. There is a good old theme of Jurassic Park, playing in the beginning, at the end and in the final credits.

Realism
Dinosaurs are still realistic, no complaints. Special effects are also realistic, there are no complaints. Anyway, it's okay here. I want to put 15, but it is not according to the rules.

Not a masterpiece, but a great dinosaur movie. Definitely the weakest part of the trilogy, and for good reason. First, a lot of blunders, secondly, I didn’t like Thea Leoni, who played the worst of all the actors, and thirdly, I didn’t like the battle of Tyrannosaurus and Spinosaurus, where the latter won.

Having personally put the first two parts of the cult "Jurassic Park", the wonderful director Stephen Spielberg decided to transfer the reins of the third part Joe Johnston, leaving behind the functions of a producer, as well as transferring all the power of his personal studio Amblin to the receiver. As for the latter, Johnston is far from the last person in the entertainment film industry. Once he received his “Oscar” for creating special effects for the first “Indiana Jones”, and also directed the unforgettable fairy tale “Jumanji”. So we can safely approve the choice of Spielberg in the person of Johnston, who at the time of filming the triquel in 2001 did everything possible to plunge us into the world of prehistoric lizards on an even greater scale, using the efforts of the good old masters of effects from the studios Industrial Light & Magic and Stan Winston Studio, involved in the first two tapes. Also pleased with the return to the cast of Sam Neal for the leading role and the participation of Laura Dern in a small cameo. Of course, “Jurassic Park 3” was expected to be somewhat weaker than the original film, but the pleasure of watching it is still incredible. But it is still worthwhile to dwell on the details...
The plot of the film takes place a few years after the events of the second film. The main scene is the infamous Sorna Island or Object 2. A pair of wealthy businessmen named Paul (William H. Macy) and Amanda Kirby (Thea Leoni) hire famed archaeologist Alan Grant (Neal) to take them on an aerial tour of the island of dinosaurs despite an official government ban. However, as expected, everything is not so simple - a couple of customers turn out to be imaginary millionaires who lost their young son in the bowels of the island when he rested in the nearby waters with his uncle. Having spent all their money on renting a plane and crew, including Dr. Grant, naturally the Kirby couple orders the pilot to sit in the heart of the island, where a dizzying journey through the ancient world begins, including a meeting with both old familiar tyrannosaurs and new guests of the franchise, majestic pterodactyls.
Sam Neal, as we all expected, became the main star of the film. Having skipped the second part of the story, giving it to the extravagant hero Jeff Goldblum, Neil returns to his star role. Despite the fact that after his first appearance in the plot and the shocking discoveries passed many years, Dr. Grant remains an ardent adherent of classical archaeology, believing that artificially recreated animals are only laboratory monsters, not creatures of nature. The hero still writes books, travels around the world in search of fossil skeletons and in this regard does not find a mate. I think that every viewer of the original mentally married Dr. Grant with his colleague, Ellie performed by Laura Dern, but the writers brought her out of the main action by inventing both a husband and a child, but at the same time Alan and Ellie remained good friends, and their only common scene seems to glow from the inside with nostalgia and warm relationships that never grew into open love. Well, when finally Dr. Grant gets to the island of Sorna, then, as we all expected, the nerd and grumpy once again turns into a good old adventurer, who is once again admired by the revived dinosaurs, even though most of them tend to eat him!
William H. Macy and Thea Leoni in a way replaced Jeff Goldblum and his hero Ian Malcolm. Now the Kirby couple will accompany Grant in the impenetrable jungle and often irritate us with their spinelessness and eternal quarrels. Each of these actors has considerable charisma and has repeatedly proved that they are able to decorate most of the tapes, but their roles in Jurassic Park 3 were at least unsuccessful. Of course, it is from the heroes of Macy and Leonie that the main moral message comes in the end, which says that the main value in our lives is the family and children, but within the framework of a rather simple fantastic adventure, it was worthwhile to focus on strong heroes. So in terms of revealing characters, creating interesting characters and organically weaving drama into action scenes, Steven Spielberg beats Joe Johnston with a considerable result. Box office confirmation, although "Jurassic Park 3" still more than perfectly went at the box office, but the trend of falling clearly manifested itself (921 million dollars in the first part and 368 in the third).
As for the visual effects, Jurassic Park 3 is, of course, the most powerful in the entire franchise until the fourth installment. Now the viewer does not have to wait half a movie to meet at least some dinosaur. The development of computer graphics has helped to show the incredible contractions of huge reptiles with the reliability that previously could only dream of. The number of dinosaur species has also increased, the tricks have become much more complicated, and the world of Sorna Island is more detailed. The main feature of the tape is pterodactyls and their huge aviary, which became the decoration of the second part of the film. However, I would like to point out again that for all its visual beauty, it lacks the diversity of strong characters beyond Dr. Grant. It is a pity that Jeff Goldblum did not take part in the shooting, because his character could greatly embellish the action, from which a somewhat weak plot would acquire a lot of additional advantages.
In the end, I want to say that "Jurassic Park 3" is entertainment in its pure form, which, although not up to the artistic qualities of the original, but nevertheless leaves behind a pleasant feeling of returning to childhood. Very pleased with the return to the franchise of Sam Neal, the candidacy of director Joe Johnston, although not a perfect replacement for Spielberg, but the result is quite acceptable, the effects are generally beyond any praise, and the classic melody of John Williams makes you wipe away a stingy tear, because something, namely she is on the side with Sam Neal is the main beacon of the nostalgic attachment of the triquel to one of the favorite films of childhood!

If you compare the third part with the other two, it turned out worse than the first, but slightly better than the second. Why? I'll try to explain. First, Sam Neal is back in the movie. And although we will not see any of the first two films here (unless Laura Dern flashes in the frame), there are no stars here at all, yet Sam Neal for me is primarily associated with the first film. Perhaps in my memory this actor will remain as a paleontologist Alan Grant. Second, the “antagonists” have changed. T-Rex gave way to an equally vicious and spectacular Spinosaurus, and the latter really managed to impress me. It’s a new face, interesting. Well, and thirdly, a good dynamics of the film gave velociraptors, which in this film is given enough time. These are all the advantages of this movie.
The plot didn't impress me. In fact, these are slightly modified first films - someone gets lost on the island, someone goes in search, and someone is eaten in the bushes. So nothing new, we've seen all this before, except perhaps Spinosaurus. Of course, the idea of the filmmakers to give Velociraptors intelligence is interesting, but still one detail is not able to drag the whole film.
In general, the film is not the most outstanding, but it can not be called a failure either. Rather, a strong middle peasant, which can be forgotten in a month. Personally, I’ve watched this movie even more because of some logical finish line in the trilogy. The trilogy seems to be over, everything would be fine, but in a year or two the fourth part is expected to be released. I don’t know what to expect from her, but I think it’s not good. So wait...
Jurassic Park 3 is the third science fiction adventure film about dinosaurs that humans were able to create and give them life, and now they live in our time on forbidden and mysterious islands that have become very sinister and mysterious, and people definitely do not belong there. The third film was exciting and interesting, and I personally liked it, and I was surprised to learn that it was coldly received by critics. This movie is quite worthy of a fantastic action movie, which is worthy of attention and positive evaluation. We see a young guy on an island of creepy dinosaurs, and his parents are looking for a boy, but to do this, they tricked a man who has been to these islands and knows all dinosaurs and their essence like his five fingers. We see a third fantastic story that takes us to a world that excites and shows again those who died out long ago.
The cast was good, so I liked the movie. Jurassic Parks is all associated with actor Sam Neill. He is an interesting actor, and in this film he played well and in the lead role looked decent. Thea Leonie is a sweet and sensual American actress, and I've liked her for a long time. In this fantastic film, she played well: very emotional and sensual. Alessandro Nivola is a good actor and a charming man, and in this film I was pleased to see him. Jurassic Park III (Jurassic Park 3) is a movie that puts a bold end to this fantastic trilogy, and before us is an interesting adventure film that is not the best of the first film, but better than the second, and this movie I strongly recommend to watch.

The hero of the first film “Jurassic Park” Alan Grant is hired as a guide to fly over an island infested with prehistoric monsters. But not only do customers decide to land on the island, so they are looking for someone else. Their appearance did not go unnoticed and now the largest dinosaur on the island wants to eat our heroes.
The good profits of the first two films did not allow the franchise to end in the second series, and here we are for the third time watching how people themselves find toothy giants on their head and try by any means to escape from them. Of course, the plot is already repeated, but high-quality special effects and new species of dinosaurs do not let the viewer get bored.
I think everyone who loves the first two movies, including me, will be happy for the third time. The film is light and spectacular, dinosaurs are alive and it is a pleasure to watch them. Yeah, and overall, the story didn't blow. The movie was perfect.
Perhaps no matter what, there is no more difficult task in creating a movie than creating a continuation of a successful project. Especially if it is “Jurassic Park”, which made a revolution in visual effects, box office, decently hold the title of living classics to this day and ensured the fame of director Steven Spielberg almost the entire population of our planet. Especially if you are not Steven Spielberg, who is known not only by devoted movie fans, but also by ordinary viewers, and someone Joe Johnston. Joe Johnston, being a protégé of Steven Spielberg, has long established himself as a worthy director of fairy tale and adventure films. Johnston is not Spielberg and nothing can be done about it. Just as with the fact that this part turned out to be much worse than the previous parts. Although it fully retains positive dignity.
Partly happy that Johnston did not try to merge into the format created by Spielberg earlier and tried to make his film. After all, if the first film was a fairy tale for viewers of all ages, and the second was a large-scale blockbuster, then this film has turned into a full-fledged survival thriller, which stands out only for its periodic ease and adventure spirit. Of course, the film sags in places even with such a small timekeeping, but still looks quite interesting and pleasant.
Especially due to the visual picture, which has long been the main advantage of the entire franchise. Masters from the studio Industrial Light and Magic and Stan Winston inclusive tried to fame. Perhaps the action scenes did not turn out as large-scale as in the sequel, but still pleased with their incredible entertainment. Whether it's a pterodactyl collision scene, or every Spinosaurus on the screen with all the consequences. If before Tyrannosaurus seemed a real monster, then the crazy features of Spinosaurus made him sincerely doubt this.
Perhaps the main drawback of the picture can be safely considered a scenario. The lack of influence of writer Michael Crichton and one of Hollywood’s most respected screenwriters, David Capp, clearly did not go to the picture for good. Since the whole film is woven from different pieces of history, which are connected to each other in a very improvised form. Without any integrity and this to a greater extent creates a feeling of emotional improbability of the tape. Including creating a lot of questions. Whether it is the absence of a demonstration of Spinosaurus and a cell with pterodactyls in the sequel to the tape despite the fact that both paintings are set on the same island, or an undisclosed idea with secret experiments by Injin in addition to several others.
I am glad that the creators of the tape again decided to make a loud statement based on scientific research. After all, if the first film produced scientific hypotheses regarding genetic engineering, and the second film revealed a lot about tyrannosaurs, then in this film the emphasis is shifted towards the main stars of the entire trilogy - cyclists. Otherwise, we have a very traditional and simple plot, which tried to return to the origins of the first tape with the concept of the plot within the framework of “survival”, but with insignificant changes in merit. Except for the pleasant and unexpected appearance of pterodactyls with Spinosaurus.
An unambiguous gift for many and myself was the return of Sam Neal to one of the best roles he created in his entire career. After all, if the sequel of the tape gave Jeff Goldblum the opportunity to recoup in a solo performance, this time a similar chance fell to Neil and he took advantage of it. The image is still interesting, the game is great and the overall impression only causes unambiguous advantages. Actually, as a less voluminous screen time, but still a worthy return of Laura Dern. William H. Macy and Thea Leoni played well. He is kind, she is a bitch and together they look not bad, but something they lack. Perhaps the eccentricity and passion that turned the heroes of the previous part of Goldbloom and Moore into a very spectacular pair.
The musical accompaniment of the tape turned out to be very peculiar and the change of the composer clearly did not go to the benefit of the picture. After all, if the composer of the first two parts, John Williams, created a full-fledged adventure music, then Don Davis created something absolutely formless and very often lost against the background of the movement taking place on the screen. Even the main theme of the franchise, which has already become a classic, does not sound so often. Don Davis was never a talented composer. Even The Matrix. Where all the work for him was done by various musicians with DJ's and this film is clear proof of that.
8 out of 10
Jurassic Park 3 is an obvious example of the fact that there are times when you need to put a fat point and stop. The film turned out of course not bad and quite spectacular, but for the presence of obvious shortcomings and unfulfilled potential, making genuinely worried about the fate of possible continuations of the franchise. In fact, practice shows that the further, the worse.
The fact that Spielberg received 20% of the fees of the third part of “Park”, not being the director of the film, suggests that this time the maestro simply cut coupons with the popularity of once (namely in 1993) successfully embodied the theme of resurrected dinosaurs. But where commercial interest overrides the quality of creative work, the end result risks being very average, if not lower. That was confirmed by the fees, gaining a little more than half of the revenue, it would seem, is also a secondary and not original “Jurassic Park 2”. Honestly, the film came out stupid, even despite the presence of beloved since the first part of paleontologist Alan Grant (Sam Neal), natural dinosaurs and intense game “catch-up” with smart raptors. And a very noticeable tilt towards comedicity of points does not add to the picture.
To begin with, our heroes fly to the island of Sorna, inhabited by prehistoric lizards. Despite the degree of secrecy and secrecy of the object, it is so high that even rescuers cannot land on it, neither from the air nor on the water it is protected by anyone and nothing. In addition, there is a very decent runway on the Sorna. A kind of cake in the refrigerator sitting on a diet, successfully urging “eat me”. In short, on the "totally isolated" island at any time can land any crazy person. But not the government, of course.
The whole group on the plane from the first unsophisticated look can be unmistakably divided into “cannon fodder” and “heroes”. “Meat”, as expected, went into consumption soon after the extremely successful hard landing, as a result of which the plane lost its wings and tail, and the lucky passengers – perhaps, a hundred or two nerve cells.
Surprised mercenary-professional Cooper, who at the sight of the first dinosaur behaved like a faint-hearted, hysterical lover of shooting sparrows. Apparently, all the "professionalism" Cooper confined himself to gently sending the loudly indignant Dr. Grant into unconsciousness.
To replace intelligent paleontologists Ellie and Sarah from the previous parts, came borrowed from the standard Hollywood horror image exalted and loud housewife Amanda. She successfully coped with her task, endless screams and screams brought all the dinosaurs in the neighborhood to a state of nervous breakdown and combat readiness.
Another image at this stamp fair is the resourceful, “not burning in the fire, not drowning in the water” American teenager Eric. Being "home alone" on an island infested with ten-meter predators, Eric showed wonders of ingenuity. Not only did he live there peacefully for two months, but he even extracted Tyrannosaurus urine and found that it deterred smaller predators. It is a pity that his ingenuity was not enough to remove from the tree the unfortunate, entangled in the branches of Uncle Ben.
Speaking of urine, that never-fired gun. It is not clear what prevented our heroes to pour it over and thereby avoid fights with pterosaurs and Velociraptors.
And the latter once again surprised with their remarkable intelligence. Recalculating the clutch of several dozen eggs, smart raptors quickly revealed a shortage of two pieces. Brilliant mathematical abilities of lizards are amazing, a human first-grader needs a year to go to school to learn how to do something similar.
The company of another predator, a harsh Tyrannosaurus, was a new monster - Spinosaurus. He is even more evil and bloodthirsty than his brother. Remarkably, the heavy, inexorable foot of the multi-ton giants all this time was heard for several kilometers, so that the earth shook. However, when a huge lizard came close to our travelers, they did not even lead with their ears, but they heard phone trills in his intestines.
The finale is predictable, but glad that Tyrannosaurs this time did not make another "godzilla" and not chased outside the island. The ending, not without tar. At the beginning of the film, the unlucky Kirby couple, the governments of both countries refused to help in the search for missing relatives, citing the complete isolation of the territory. But one word from an old friend of Alan’s, the same Ellie, now the wife of the boss from the State Department – and nate, a completely different thing! That's what good connections and favors mean. It turns out that this phenomenon is global, not purely Russian.
It seems that Sam Neal, realizing what a ridiculous plot he got into, is trying to get out of the situation with honor, portraying a tired and condescending smile. Although his character is the only one to whom there are no questions.
The variety of new dinosaur species does not shine either. In addition to Spinosaurus, their ranks were joined, perhaps, by Ankylosaurus. The rest, including the unflappable giants of brachiosaurs, the purpose of which is, as always, to defuse the situation a little, we have already seen in previous films.
What saves the picture is a well-made dinosaurs and sometimes a good “gallows humor”.
In general, now it is not clear what to expect from the upcoming fourth Park. But Jack Horner, the scientific coordinator of all parts of the project, promises a new insanely scary dinosaur, such that, in his words, “you don’t want to sleep with the lights on.”
In the meantime:
“It is one thing to imagine and another to touch.”
It seems that the blades are no longer surprising, but anyway, I liked how the serial number of this part was marked in the title of the film. The same three torn scratches as it was in one of “Nightmares on Elm Street” and “Scream”.
There was no long scientific introduction like the first two films. Discussions and speeches on this topic were present, but, nevertheless, relatively quickly told about the convincing reasons why the main characters needed to be on the island. And they were sent there relatively quickly.
Adventures and first encounters with dinosaurs occurred much earlier than you might expect. The encounter of an airplane with a tree, under the branches of which there is an eternally hungry dinosaur, turned out to be so exciting that it could well be suitable for the climax. But the heroes, after experiencing such fears, were too calm for this. We walked, thought about life, and shouted at the top of our throats while looking for the boy.
But, if after the first series you will remember a lot of episodes from which you fidget, then there are, unfortunately, quite a few of them. The cage door was brilliant. Sometimes it is interesting not just how the heroes escape, but what tricks they come up with in such places, when it would seem, well, simply impossible to escape. That's the dead end.
Not without film and comedy. Freeze. “Stay where you are,” Alan Grant said.
It seems that Stephen Spielberg and Joe Johnston connects one cinematic circle, because it was Johnston that became one of the directors of the series The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones, and that this name says Spielberg, I am sure you do not need to remind. Perhaps this is how in the director's chair of the third part "Jurassic Park" was Joe Johnston, and Stephen Spielberg limited only to the production part of the picture, receiving twenty percent of the box office of the picture.
To create the plot this time did not apply his efforts David Koepp, it was replaced by a whole trio of screenwriters, but, as it turns out, it did not help, "Jurassic Park 3" will be noticeably weaker than its predecessors even on a dynamic line, everything will not be so whipsy and stylish, the third part will be rather sparsely developed and easy to read with its subsequent plot twists. But this is only, I emphasize, in comparison with its predecessors, but other films of a science fiction nature should still achieve a similar result.
An intriguing step in creating Jurassic Park 3 was the return of Sam Neal, who had the title role in the first film, but was not even mentioned in the second. In general, this step justified itself, because Sam Neal with his appearance is really clearly similar to a scientist like Indiana Jones in the image of a doctor of biological sciences working in the field. Sam Neal did not bring anything new to his character, but it was not so much needed. His character, as in the first part, does not particularly like children, has a deep knowledge of dinosaurs, and yet he has a large human heart, otherwise how to explain the fact that he again saved the child from voracious prehistoric creatures? By the way, there was one colorful moment in the film, when the hero of Sam Neal comes to the heroine of Laura Dern, who already has a family and children. A direct hint at the trait of the man’s character, but this scene caused excitement, I even thought that this tandem would unite again, but this did not happen, but it is a pity.
So, our scientist again with a strange child (Trevor Morgan) and fights to save him and his life, and the rest of the main actor ensemble was supplemented by William H. Macy and Thea Leoni. They play a married couple who broke up, but because of the disappearance of their son, who disappeared in the wilds of the island, where a considerable number of dinosaurs live, they join forces. To be honest, I didn’t get something like that from their images, everything came out too “American” with a standard set of emotions. Even a couple in the second series - Jeff Goldblum and Julian Moore - looked much more convincing against the background of the nightmare. William H. Macy did not change himself at all - a good-natured man who always has no luck in something. A Thea Leoni obstinate and obstinate, that is, this role is frankly similar in character traits to her character from "Bad guys".
Another thing I miss is visual effects. In the first two films "Jurassic Park" dinosaurs caused genuine delight, and when it was necessary, and genuine horror, but here these emotions the picture did not cause, everything came out too ordinary, or what. But very strictly this parameter is not taken, because Joe Johnston is not Stephen Spielberg, and "Jurassic Park 3" became extra proof why the name of "Spielberg" knows ninety percent of the inhabitants of the Earth, but Joe Johnston is not familiar to many, even those who are well acquainted with cinema.
Well, it seemed that this will stop the franchise "Jurassic Park", which gave us a lot of pleasant minutes from watching, but not so long ago it became known that the release of the fourth film is already being prepared, I just want to wish success.
6 out of 10
It’s no secret how often the pursuit of a light dollar goes sideways to popular film series. There are, of course, exceptions like Back to the Future and Indiana Jones (but not the fourth), but they do not disprove the general rule. Jurassic Park was so successful (and equally artistically and commercially) that it spawned as many as 2 sequels (the third is still in question, but only for now). And if the film crew of the original Park, led by Steven Spielberg himself, almost worked on the Lost World almost in full (the result was an almost exemplary commercial blockbuster, albeit devoid of some of the former magic and charm), then the triquel was mainly worked by completely different people who have a very remote relation to the canonical (say so) dilogy. The result was not long in coming.
The fact that ideologically the franchise begins to exhale, it became clear already in the final of the second part, but the third “Park” finally lost the dignity of the original. Under the knife went not only the soulfulness with a fabulous atmosphere together, but even the dynamics, entertainment and scale. The point here is not even in the scenery and special effects (which are just very good), but in the general semantic background, directing and music, of which there is almost nothing left.
Joe Johnston (by the way, the director of the witty “Honey, I shrunk the children” and the not perfect, but funny and original “Jumanji”) actually turned the grand film into a banal zoological thriller like some “Anaconda”, only more expensive. Running through the damp dense forests, the successive death of one after another members of the “rescue team”, sudden jumps of predators from behind the bushes and other stamps of second-rate adventure thrillers are attached.
It did not benefit the film and the redesign of extinct animals, coupled with repainting them in bright colors. After performing a dilogy in one visual key, this greatly cuts the eye. Plus, a number of “paleoliaps”, like pteranodons, dragging people in their paws (in reality, the structure of his hind limbs is such that he is not able to wear anything in them, and not so large is a pterosaur, albeit large) and Spinosaurus, folding its frail jaws powerful neck T-Rex.
I would say that in general this film is not for fans of “Park” (they will be disappointed) and for fans of second-rate adventure thrillers. Very unpretentious amateurs.
