Operation Gladio The Cold War and the resulting confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union in Europe required measures different from those adopted in the Third World. France, Italy, Germany are the locomotives of the European economy, in which it was impossible to imagine large-scale hostilities after the Second World War. However, there were forces that disagreed with the new world order and could lead the peoples of Western Europe – left-wing political parties and groups that enjoyed the tacit support of the USSR. To combat this movement, NATO implemented a large-scale Operation Gladio, the purpose of which was to create a network of anti-communists from among the Axis collaborators.
The most dramatic was the confrontation in Italy, the victim of which, in part, were cultural figures - the murder of the Marxist director Pierre Paolo Pasolini has not yet been solved. But the most large-scale “secret war” took place in the political elite. In addition to geopolitical interests, the interests of political circles and organized crime clashed here. Operation Gladio became an excellent cover for dividing spheres of influence and eliminating political rivals. The 70s and 80s were marked by a series of high-profile political assassinations in Italy, the most resonant of which was the death of Italian Prime Minister Aldo Moro.
Retired prosecutor Rosario Sarracino (played by Donald Sutherland) 25 years after Moro's death receives sensational evidence of the conspiracy that caused the death of the Italian politician. Trying to independently investigate the facts received from a secret informant, Sarracino realizes that he has fallen into the network of a structure that will stop at nothing to hide the truth.
An exciting European thriller about the consequences of the Cold War and the predetermined fate of politicians trying to play outside the rules of the “big game”.
