Cold weapons warm the soul. A very unconventional action film called “Princess of Swords”, leaves a good impression after watching, but overall it seems a little pinched or unopened.
It often happens that some films suffer from protractedness, and in particular this applies to Japanese cinema, which for me still remains a benchmark and just one of my favorites. So, if many films suffer from protractedness, then the problem of "The Princess of Swords" in its brevity. In particular, the conflict of the main character and the main villain turned out painfully early. We haven't had time to get into the whole thing yet, and they've got things to do. And the good thing is that all this makes sense, retribution does not come out of nowhere and the actor emphasizes everything well.
Some of the characters were left unprocessed, but again comes the help of acting, through which you believe that this guy really is what he was described in a relatively short time span. I will not go into details, so as not to spoiler certain moments, but one thing I can say for sure - the actors are good!
And now, if you deviate from these disadvantages, then the magnificently staged sword fights that are full of skill are striking. However, looking at these fights, the question is asked why every time the slaughter started, the main character began to run away from the enemies, and only as soon as they overtook her, she began to give everyone around, right and left.
In any case, what really hooked me was the drama of the whole film, which turned out to be very cruel, but strong and believable. In fact, that’s what Japanese movies are all about. You get to know the characters and they start to like you.
In fact, the film has many positive aspects. A good soundtrack, excellent work of the operator, you can see the efforts of the director and actors and the persistence of the drama, which closes my eyes to some of the mistakes of this picture.
In the end, I can say that I liked the film. He definitely lacks timekeeping for a thorough acquaintance with the characters, but the actors see all the experiences and believe in the essence of what is happening, relying on faces, and for all this effort I can put “Princess of Swords”.
