Christmas with 'Cranks' Comedy is certainly one of the most popular genres within the framework of modern cinema, the popularity of which is readily cemented by the abundance of paintings released every year. However, for all these comedies, as well as monopolized the modern film market films about superheroes and screen versions of other comics, unfortunately, the genre of New Year comedies has been lost, which rarely pleases viewers, and really good films of the genre especially. Which pushes us to watch and revise previously released pictures, and some of them to review each time with undiminished pleasure and this film directed by Joe Roth is certainly one of those.
The story revolves around Luther and Nora Crank. After their beloved daughter leaves for the holidays, Luther and Nora decide to seize the opportunity. Forgetting about the traditional New Year’s chores and going to rest in the tropics. Without even knowing the consequences of their refusal to celebrate Christmas and how all their neighbors will contribute to this.
Chris Columbus is certainly one of the most talented comedy writers of modern cinema. What he proved throughout his career repeatedly and this film was no exception. There is nothing special about this film. Columbus wrote the most simple script, which in my opinion and captivates both its simplicity and ease. Taking as a basis the "Christmas Song" by Charles Dickens, slightly changing this work on the screen and supplementing with his personal humor, Columbus gave a really interesting and funny story.
Separately, I would like to note humor, which is perfectly implemented both on the example of jokes and dialogues, and on the example of comic moments. Most importantly, the creators of the tape very subtly felt the spirit of Christmas and very easily reflected it on the screen. Especially in the final act of the tape. Making it clear that Christmas is not only a holiday in which family members, friends and loved ones decorate houses together, do not get out of the kitchen in cooking, set tables and spend time together watching TV and drinking champagne, but a holiday when everyone is ready to come to your aid and when miracles can turn into reality with special ease.
It is impossible to agree with the harsh criticism with which this film was torn apart by numerous critics. In my opinion, the director of this tape Joe Roth shot an excellent New Year's comedy, which can easily be put on the same shelf with the brightest worthy representatives of the genre. The picture turned out to be very light, kind, bright and positive. Willingly charging all those emotions when watching. Actually, as well as the indescribable Christmas spirit, which is impregnated in this tape absolutely everything. From the scenery to the atmosphere itself. Moreover, the picture turned out to be really funny and repeatedly causing a sincere smile on the face when viewing.
Performers of the main roles Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis played far from the best roles in their careers. However, each of them quite decently coped with the task assigned to him on the screen. Allen bribes with some transformation of his character into Ebenizer Skurge, and Curtis - hypertrophied emotionality of his heroine. It was not a bad thing to play B. Emmett Walsh, Dan Aykroyd, Cheech Marin and many others, who were even given roles in the background. However, each of them has played a worthy role accurately.

Christmas with Losers is, in my opinion, a highly undeservedly criticized film that actually turned out to be much better than many people appreciate. Director Joe Roth managed to make a very light, kind, positive and bright film that willingly charges all these emotions when watching. Including the indescribable spirit of Christmas, which is impregnated with this film entirely.
