Weak cross Supercross is a sports drama about the world of motocross by Steve Boyum.
High-quality sports dramas are a rarity for cinema. First, they have a narrow circle of spectators, and secondly, a large budget is required for a beautiful shot of active sports. Boium, who specializes in TV series and inexpensive TV projects, had no money or skills. However, he was able to shoot a tape, in places similar to a sports drama.
The script, written by three people who do not understand anything about motorcycle sports, does not reveal the behind-the-scenes life of athletes, does not show struggle and heat, does not immerse in the mysterious world of extreme sports. The plot is about two brothers who go to the same victory in different ways, then competing, then cooperating, and a couple of love lines for each of them - that's the whole background of the film. Plus superficial characters, meaningless dialogue and weak actors who unsuccessfully try to portray the spirit of rivalry and experience.
The film’s small budget greatly affects its quality. William Wages is a very experienced operator, but it is extremely difficult to shoot a decent action picture with small means. Racing looks sluggish and not spectacular, although a couple of times and interspersed with very interesting angles. And the sad soundtrack is so secondary and uninteresting that it completely knocks out even those cheerful crumbs that are embedded in the film, thanks to the active editing.
Steve Boyum is a director, whose destiny is to shoot TV series and films for cable networks. And sports drama, which requires a large and complex work, high-quality script and good actors, he is not at all up to his teeth.
