"Scorpion poison" - 1991, the production of "Inter-T" TMC. Producers - Ilya Podvalny, Alexei Butukhanov. A psychological thriller, built on recognizable allegories from world cinema classics.
This is the debut work of young Moscow directors, VGIKA graduates Vladimir Panzhev and Oleg Baraev. The picture was shot in 1990 at the production base of the film studio Centernauchfilm and Mosfilm.
“Scorpion Poison” is one of the first non-state film projects in the USSR, implemented by independent film producers from Novosibirsk Ilya Podvalny and Alexei Butukhanov, who headed the creative youth center “Inter-T”, later transformed into the film company “Alaska”.
All the roles in the film were performed by young talented Moscow actors.
The film got its name thanks to the bottle of world-famous perfume "Poison", around which the intrigue of the film action is tied. That is why the picture received the support of the Moscow representative office of the world perfume giant Christian Dior. By the way, in French, the name of the movie thriller sounds just “Poison du Scorpion”.
Incidentally, "Scorpion Poison" was exhibited in the out-of-competition screening of the XVII International Film Festival in 1991. It was well received by film critics and was widely shown in the box office of most republics of the USSR - CIS countries.
It is noteworthy that, by chance, the first and only film copy of the film “Scorpion Poison” was arrested in August 1991 together with the first President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev (who never missed the news) in his Crimean residence Foros and with him safely returned to Moscow from the captivity of the coup.
Thus, the rolling fate of the film directly depended on how the outcome of the tragic events of August 1991 would have been resolved. . .
