Breakers. Funny satire. I don’t know what caused such low ratings, I personally liked the film, but it is not a masterpiece, and not the best and not known, but there are hundreds of weaker comedies, with a higher rating.
The film came to my screen because of the presence of Sam Rockwell, who played the main role. (In every review of Sam’s movie, I write this line: “Every role he plays is a benefit.”) And this film I can not ignore this thesis in my review. And here he sings! The main role in the crime comedy about two not very successful, to put it mildly, musicians who get into an awkward situation - to the boss of the Jewish mafia, and their task is now to break into safes, which they could not think about before.
This is not a pathos expensive action comedy with showdowns in the style of Bruce Willis, this is a simple movie, to which we were accustomed to Soviet comedies of the 60s, 70s. "Bear cubs" - just an interesting, sometimes filled with good American humor film, with interesting rapid events and slipping romantic overtones.
The work of the cameraman, the director, of course, is very far from perfect, but this is still his first full-length film. Everything looks like a good, not expensive, but a good movie.
I would like to say more about the actors: Rockwell, Zan, Lerner, Giamatti, Ruffalo
All of them are not the last names, and the director is John Hamburg, remembered by me for his very funny comedy "Love You, Dude!", part-time screenwriter of the famous "Meet Your Parents".
Musical equipment, not very rich, but always "to the point" and creates an additional plus for the film.
I really liked Peter Dinklage’s unexpected appearance at the end, and the film left me with pleasant memories.
