French director Xavier Giannoli's "All First" (2009) I watched the movie "Margarita" from this director, I liked it. In this film, I was attracted primarily by François Cluse. The film tells a rather unusual story, which, as the credits say, actually happened, which only in life does not happen. A petty thief and swindler, Paul trades by renting rather expensive tools under false names and selling them instead of returning them. One day he accidentally falls into a small town, where he expects to do one bigger scam, but suddenly things take a completely different turn. Near this town a couple of years ago began to pave the highway, but soon the construction was closed at the request of environmentalists, allegedly because of the scarab beetles found there. The appearance of Paul, acting there under the name of Philip Miller on a car with the logo of the company that was building, is suddenly perceived by residents as that the construction is going to resume, and Philip, without expecting it from himself, begins to play along with them, although here the game is serious. Construction is indeed resumed, but, of course, there are numerous problems, primarily of a financial nature, which cannot end well. The ending, though quite predictable, is a bit unexpected, as is how the story actually ended. The film was staged and shot quite well, but a little delayed (2 hours 10 minutes), but was well received by critics and was nominated for the Golden Palm in Cannes.
