“Beverly Hills Cop 3” is the most different part of the series, which looks very rich and bright. True, this time the film is much more related to the action movie than to the comedy action, but in my opinion, the tape did not harm.
So, for the third time, Axel Foley returns to Los Angeles, where the cop is led by a string related to the murder of his boss. Over time, the work of the local cops has reached a new level, but Axel is still used to working the old-fashioned way. One way or another, another major Foley investigation begins.
The story of the third “Policeman” actually has a much more serious tone than the first two paintings. The film felt less humor, and classic sneezes Eddie Murphy clearly not enough compared to the dilogy. But to my taste, it doesn't spoil the picture at all. The sequel, due to an attempt to repeat the success of the original film, already looked somewhat secondary, but the third part, thanks to some rethinking, looks fresher.
With the level of seriousness, the amount of action has increased, as well as its quality. Still, the 90s are no longer the 80s, the production of fighting scenes has reached a new level, and now the shootouts look alive and with more natural effects.
There have also been some changes in the characters. As for Axel Foley himself, I mentioned this above. The hero has changed somewhat, has become more brutal or, so to speak, a classic hero of the action movie. It’s not a development of the character, it’s just changed, losing some of its charm. The second character from the previous parts, Billy, on the contrary, seemed to roll back after his development in the sequel. Here Billy, even if he takes a new post, in terms of personality, he remained the same amusing klutz, a comedian of a kind.
Overall, 'Beverly Hills Cop 3' is a fascinating action movie that I think has come to fame. It is dynamic, interesting, rich. Even if the mood of the film is different from the dilogy, that does not make it bad.
Martin Brest’s film “Beverly Hills Cop” made Eddie Murphy a real star of the action genre. He had previously starred in similar projects, such as 48 Hours, but Murphy was forced to share screen time with Nick Nolte. And Brest was already the central and only main characters. Over time, the sequel showed itself well at the box office, and then the third part was also released, directed by comediographer John Landis.
As in the previous parts of this series, the plot begins with a police investigation, which leads the main character, detective Axel Foley, in his native Detroit. Foley tracks down a gang of car robbers and decides to independently complete the task and arrest everyone. He takes with him only a small team of colleagues, refusing special forces. However, everything was not as easy as it looked, because the hijackers are associated with very dangerous criminals. Who's just about to pick up the van they really need. As a result of the fierce firefight was not without victims, and soon it turns out that the bandits are somehow connected with the amusement park “Valley World”.
To deal with everything, Axel must again go to Los Angeles, where the park is located. However, it is traditionally met with little enthusiasm. First of all, Foley unnerves Ellis DuWalt, head of amusement park security. So Axel has to seek the help of his good friend Billy Rosewood, who has turned into a rather authoritative police official and does not mind bringing out everyone involved in the shooting in Detroit.
Compared to the previous parts, this film already has much more humor and all sorts of comical absurd situations than a thorough detective investigation. This directly affected the box office of the film and the triquel is considered the weakest part of its franchise in terms of intrigue and dramatic plot twists. But I do. That John Landis still got a brilliant police story with a rather intriguing story and, as always, a great Eddie Murphy in the title role.
In general, Murphy feels very good in the image of Axel Foley and does not mind fooling around in an amusement park without brakes. He can easily refuse George Lucas and his girlfriend to climb the attraction, and then he literally tears apart the pavilion with an alien attack. Yes, in some places these scenes look a little absurd, but at the same time they are funny and positive. The main thing is that nobody has forgotten about the investigation of the shooting in Detroit, but the place of John Ashton from the first two films here was taken by Hector Elizondo, who quite confidently feels in the company of Eddie Murphy and Judge Reinhold.
“Beverly Hills Cop 3” is more chaotic and comedic than the previous parts, but it’s still a great story that can surprise you. And Eddie Murphy here is simply magnificent and it is not surprising that he continues to love his hero and can not so easily part with him.

I can’t believe that the wonderful director John Landis, who has directed such beautiful comedies as “Switching Places” and “Coming to America”, so negligent approach to the continuation of the franchise “cop from Beverly Hills”. That light, indescribable atmosphere, which is saturated with the first two films about the adventures of detective Axel Foley, is completely absent here. The script of the movie is just disgusting. And the two nominations for ‘Golden Raspberry’ for worst script and worst sequel are perfectly natural.
Eddie Murphy is a very talented actor. But as far as I know, during the filming, he had a lot of personal problems. And while watching the film, it felt very clear. There was no spark in his game, Murphy was not interested in this project, and in some places he openly overplayed. Not the most convincing was the play of Judge Reinhold, who returned to the role of his hero. 'Beverly Hills Cop 3' is a frankly dull and even tortured comedy. And all that remains of the two previous and really cool films is the cult soundtrack. It is not clear for whom and why he was filmed at all. Disappointed.
The film is much worse than the previous ones. But there's a discovery. It's personal to me. It turns out that Negroes, those who live in Emerick, have hair growing at 60 cm a day. I learned this from the example of a beautiful Negro who was an administrator in Wonderland (I think that was the name of the amusement park). Eddie Murphy likes her like Asmus Kharlamov. When Murphy saw her for the first time, she was short-cut, the next day - either a wig or hair grew back. I tend to grow back.
Usually, fans of the series are taken to scold this part of the franchise, but in my opinion, it is this picture that stands out from the entire trilogy and goes into the wild postmodern. And this is not surprising because John Landis sat for the director's chair, whose grotesque style is easily guessed in the construction of scenes, night shots and the manner of shooting dialogues. In this regard, the film itself will be interesting not to fans of black cop Axel Foley, but to fans of the cinematic vision of the venerable director.
Although the main meaning of this work still lies in comedic elements that are created at the expense of different characters and comic situations, and the film itself continues to develop the idea that despite the differences in culture, all people can work together to achieve a common goal, the tape tries to entertain the viewer in other ways. Landis takes many scenes to an absurdity that a dedicated viewer of the franchise is not always willing to accept. Which is not surprising.
However, Landis fans will easily see in this work the motifs of his film The Blues Brothers, in which the reality of the tape is shifted and does not try to resemble the usual routine, and jokes are built, often on absolutely fantastic things. Therefore, in order to get pleasure from Beverly Hills Cop 3, you need to understand in advance that the director will not follow the rules of the game built before him. On the contrary, they will try to destroy them as soon as possible. This is what happens in the first scene.
Moving away from the figure of the director, we can state that the film “Beverly Hills Cop 3” is a grotesque entertaining police comedy with cheerful non-household humor and memorable action scenes. Filming was quite complex and demanding to special effects, but in the end, director John Landis was able to create a spectacular and popular film, which became one of the main blockbusters of the season, although he was criticized by critics for leaving the general line.

The third part of the franchise, directed by John Landis, who had already worked with Eddie Murphy on Coming to America, in my opinion, was the best in my childhood. Perhaps this opinion was formed because the main actions of the picture unfold in an amusement park (and the situation is atypical for criminal showdowns, and the Disney Club in the 90s and early zeros was active and always wanted to visit there). However, now, having revised all three parts, I can say that “Beverly Hills Cop 3” is the weakest of the three films released.
Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) is back in business, returning to a paradise called Beverly Hills, but this time his adventures were hardly original and sparkling. This time, an honest cop from Detroit in BH led the investigation into the murder of his boss – Inspector Todd (in general, the plot no longer shines originality, given that in the second film in a similar manner “got” the hero Ronnie Cox, who was the boss of Rosewood and Taggart.
In addition to the picture of Landis, you can put the fact that the main cast was retained for the third film (Murphy, Reinhold), plus Bronson Pinshaw returned to the franchise, who played a cameo role in the first film. Plus to the cast added Hector Elizondo, as well as a number of actors who were notable in other projects minor roles: Luis Lombardi, Timothy Carhart, Stephen McHatty, Director Joe Dante, Gregory McKinney, who a year later will be destined to play Jax in the “Death battle”, and in 2 years to die of a brain aneurysm. And of course, John Tenney, who also appears in roles in famous projects.
According to its content, “Beverly Hills Cop 3” ceased to be a sparkling action movie with a significant amount of humor, as it was in the first two parts and the same franchise “Lethal Weapon”. The third part about the adventures of Axel Foley turned out to be stupid and naive. The humor in it ceased to be situational and involved in the dialogues of the characters, as well as the lush charisma of Eddie Murphy. The humour in this film began to exude elements of stupidity and stupidity, which immediately turned the third film into a kind of “Police Academy” or “Pistol Hot”. Everything here became too naive and fake, which largely influenced the impression after viewing.
The film tried to keep up with the "Destroyer" and "The Last Hero of the Fighter", trying to show the police of the future (well, or the near future), but it did not work. Perhaps, by the way, behind all the lotions of the cops from the third film, there is just a kind of parody of the above pictures, because the cops had everything on the latest technology. However, this guess is difficult to believe, because in itself “the Cop from Beverly Hills” is not a parody film, it is an independent comedy action movie.
If you pay attention to the box office, then we can assume that the viewer, at one time, did not bite on the third part of the franchise, even taking into account the fact that Murphy starred there. The film collected fewer than the first two films at the box office, although it spent a total of 16 million greens more than the first two parts combined.
Now in development is the fourth part of the film, which put Adil El Arbi and Bilal Falla – the authors of the third part of “Bad guys”. I think it should be a good movie. At the very least, I'd like to see a continuation of Axel Foley's (albeit aged) adventures. Still, when Part 3 came out, I was still very young to appreciate this movie and perhaps regret that the franchise ended a few years before I began to appreciate good movies.
But look at you. I do not impose my opinion on anyone.
Remember the movie 'Terminator: Rise of the Machines'? Remember 'Alien 3'? This is not to say that these films were terrible. They tried to replicate to varying degrees what worked in the more popular parts of the franchise, but failed.
So, with the third part 'Police' everything is much worse than with the above films. First, this part of Axl’s adventures looks a lot like an amusement park ad. In fact, the park is fictional, but contains elements of other famous parks - Disneyland and Universal Studio Park. This creates a very strange atmosphere.
In this part, Eddie Murphy's character is no longer just a policeman - he is a kind of superhero, and this is very clearly seen in the scene of saving children from the attraction. The funny thing is that Eddie himself said in an interview that in the third film he wanted to play more than 39; cool & #39; a policeman like Wesley Snipes, and not the former prankster and adventurer. I really hope he was joking.
And in the third - Axl Foley in this part behaves aggressively and much less thoughtful than in the previous parts - it is difficult for such a character to empathize. And the fact is that for the third time the usual scheme is used - Axl has a motive for personal revenge, and no mystery or twist on the topic ' who is to blame ' the film does not offer. Therefore, throughout the screen time, Murphy’s character rushes at the villain like a mad dog, he is dragged away – and after a couple of scenes the same thing repeats itself. And yes, that was the case in the past, but it was tempered by humor. Not here.
In short, the worst part of the trilogy - by all the laws of the genre. Maybe soon Eddie Murphy will be able to rehabilitate the franchise in the fourth part, but something I don’t believe. . .
10 years later, after the acclaimed first part of the “Beverly Hills Cop”, the long-awaited continuation of the story about the witty and resourceful detective Axel Foley, who went on the third “voyage” to Los Angeles, to catch the killer of his boss, is released on the screens. It’s a standard triquel, but is it important?
If you compare this film with the previous parts, then there are not so many differences, after all, very little has changed. A slightly twisted plot, with a hint of mystery, seasoned with a fair portion of action and an even larger portion of excellent humor. Even the cast is almost completely preserved. In addition to the main star of this “show” inimitable Eddie Murphy, the project returned to Judge Reinhold (Billy Rosewood), Gilbert R. Hill (the formidable chief Douglas) and even Philip Levien in the role of Surge – a funny seller of all sorts of sophisticated trinkets. Plus, new, no less interesting characters were added. Hector Elizondo very successfully duplicated the image of the retired grumpy Taggart, and Timothy Carhart very well got used to the role of the main villain - Alice Devolt, who is also the owner of the amusement park "World of Wonders". Entertainment complex and crime scene at the same time? Quite an unexpected move, but quite justified, because country mansions as a "battlefield" are already tired. But the cheerful "Axel F" did not change, which is absolutely correct. Along with Eddie Murphy's snow-white smile, the melody became the hallmark of the trilogy.
It is difficult to say what the director did wrong, and why such a fascinating and witty spectacle did not bring the expected results. Perhaps the time of the “great American combinator” just gone and what in the 80s caused untold delight, was not so attractive for the era of the 90s. Nevertheless, I would like to thank John Landis for a gorgeous (for me personally) sequel to one of my favorite films. The third part beautifully and logically completed the adventures of a black policeman who not only got even with his abusers, but also seems to have found his “quiet pier”. Axl's in good hands. Goodbye, Axel!
Slightly overstated, but still
The longer the franchise, the higher the risk that the sequels will be worse than the previous parts and fans of the franchise will be disappointed with what they saw on the screen. Contrary to the opinion among the audience regarding the sequels, Tony Scott’s film decently kept the bar set by Martin Brest in the first tape. What can you say about this film under the direction of director John Landis? Since almost from the very first frames of the picture it becomes obvious that having lost most of the production team of the first two films in the person of producers Jerry Bruckheimer and Don Simpson, as well as composer Harold Faltermier, the film lost something special.
That is why this film certainly looks weaker than the previous parts, which had some magic and charm, alas, did not pass into this film. Perhaps it is all about the classic cinematic canons of the 80s, which made the first two films classics, but alas lost relevance in the new trends of the 90s cinema. Obviously, the film turned out wrong. Frankly speaking, from the action movie in the picture there was not so much and in many ways, only the last 20 minutes of the action series are puffed out for the entire film. Yes, and that save these scenes no dizzying stunts and dashing shootouts, how much perfect playing these very action scenes in the locations of the amusement park reflected on the screen.
Otherwise, the film follows almost meticulously the legacy of the first films and develops an almost identical plot, in which the restless Axel Foley again goes to Beverly Hills to investigate the murder of a loved one. That's only if such a tie perfectly debuted in the first tape and fixed in the second picture, then here she pretty shabby and lost its former gloss. That is why the plot itself does not care much, and the ragged narrative of the story itself does not allow you to get as much pleasure as watching the first two films.
Here, of course, the situation is saved by Eddy Murphy, who is trying in every possible way to prove that his character still has gunpowder in the powder boxes. Thus, acting it out, though not according to the favorite model of the first two paintings, but still extremely dignified and interesting. Still good in his image Judge Reinhold. Well, Hector Elizondo turned out to be far from the best replacement for John Ashton, who has long loved Taggart in the performance of which was really very much lacking.

The policeman from Beverly Hills 3 is not the best continuation of the long-becoming classic and beloved franchise, which is very much inferior to the first two films and wins rather not due to the quality of the product, but the sympathy of the audience for the franchise and their willingness to blindly close their eyes to the shortcomings.
Axel Foley returns after seven years of downtime. Is that good news? Yes and no. After all, over these seven years, the world has changed, and with it the heroes have changed. Axel learned the great wisdom that real heroes always go around and ten armed men are still ten armed men, and they pose a serious danger. Detective William Rosewood received a long-awaited promotion and now boasts about it. Detective Foley's boss, Douglas Todd, was shot. In fact, the film, as before, is devoted to the search for justice and thirst for revenge. And of course, Foley arrives in Beverly Hills to anger both criminals and officials. Everything is as usual.
Anyway, it seems so at first glance, but if you look closer, you realize that John Landis could not feel the atmosphere of previous films about the fearless cop from Detroit, and as for the writers, given that these guys were three, I guess they found a more exciting pastime than writing the script. But let's talk about everything in order.
So, the characters of the picture, as well as the actors that play them. And to begin with, I want to let a stingy man cry because John Ashton and Ronnie Cox left the project. Without these two charismatic actors, this film has lost a lot. Secondly, the character of Axel Foley has undergone a radical change, and now I do not recognize him at all. Somewhere went youthful enthusiasm, natural charisma and just universal arrogance. Axl doesn’t pretend to be someone else to find out the secrets of the bad guys. He stopped chasing after women, and the hero forgot how to have fun. Axl now goes only forward, periodically beating all the counter and cross. Gentlemen, writers, have you confused anything? Eddie Murphy is a charismatic actor who drives out at the expense of his signature dialogues and facial expressions, not at the expense of fists! William Rosewood has also undergone significant changes, and if before he did not care about the law and acted as his heart told him, now he acts strictly according to instructions and insists that others do the same. And this after Detective Rosewood, holding a shotgun in each hand, confronted two dozen armed men in the second part? I can't believe anything! As for the other actors, despite the abundance of newcomers, none of them could be remembered. And here even the point is not that the actors were given not so much screen time, but that no one bothered to prescribe them both characters and dialogues. Here's the hero of Chris Rock, who was a simple worker in the second part I remember, and the heroes of the third picture - no. And this is an indicator of how seriously the film crew approached the creation of this film.
But in addition to claims to the characters, I also have claims to the plot of the picture. Yes, in the first two films, the plot was simple, but it was quite fascinating and logical, and here periodically there are questions, the answers to which no one is going to give. And the first one is where does Axel live? No, I understand, the question sounds strange, but let’s look at the previous movies. In the first film, Axel settles in a five-star hotel, in the second part in a chic mansion and one would assume that in the third part, Detective Foley will stop by to visit the president, but no. We do not know where the hero lives or whether he sleeps on a bench in the park. Ultimately, it is because of such trifles and turn lively and interesting characters who want to empathize. Then even more fun, because at the very beginning of the film, Axel is trying to kill in Wonder World, and then the same people who wanted to kill him already talk to him. Um, don't you think the sequence is wrong? After all, first you need to try to negotiate with the detective, threaten his relatives and relatives with a quick reprisal, and not try to sew him immediately. After all, you will have to answer many uncomfortable questions. Why are you really small? The same thing that puzzled me when I was a kid was the behavior of Detective John Flint. And the point here is perhaps that the writers were not completely sure whether Hector Elizondo played a good character or still a bad one. Because in one scene he speaks nicely with the main villain, in the next scene he promises to kill Detective Foley himself, and in a few minutes he shoots at the bandits. And it's not a controversial character. It's a writer's mistake! About the same thing that Rosewood swallowed pills of stupidity and do not want to talk at all, since all the actions of his hero in this film do not lend themselves to logic and common sense.
As for the action, despite the fact that in this picture it is more than enough no special feelings he does not cause. Yes, they do. Yes, they do. But I want something more especially after a couple of bright action scenes from the second part.
Summing up, I want to say that the next change of director did not go to the benefit of the film. The characters have changed beyond recognition, the picture itself is full of plot holes and logical inconsistencies, and it was decided to abandon humor in favor of action. As a result, the picture from a light and fast-paced film turned into a heavyweight action movie, in which there is nothing else besides shootings. In principle, you can look once, but you can suffer the same disappointment as the author of these lines.

"World of Wonders" by Axel Foley and Ellis De Wold
Immerse yourself in a time when films had a slightly different format, and the audience sympathies extended mainly to action films and comedies. On this field just performed Eddie Murphy with his character Axel Foley.
I have to say that I have not seen the Beverly Hills Policeman before, but I intend to fill this gap. I watched Part 3 when the movie was new.
Having run through the eyes of the review at KinoPoisk, I was unpleasantly surprised that many stones were thrown into the garden of the 3rd part. However, all of them were cast in comparison with the first two, they say, the film "seriously". In my review, I will start from my first perception after watching. Not only that. I revisited this picture the other day. And ready to conclude: She's priceless! (At least for me.)
After a failed operation, Axel Foley's boss was shot dead. He's on the trail of the killer. Immediately you can laugh at how on the move crumbles the car chasing the criminals Axel.
The tracks lead Axel to Wonder World Park. The other day he meets his colleague and friend Billy Rosewood (as I understand, because I did not watch the first 2 films). At the entrance, the legendary music sounds, which, in my opinion, became known as "Axel Fox". If you don’t quite understand what I mean, then think back to 2005, where DJ Crazy Frog tortured listeners with his ugly, but damn popular hit. So the basis was taken from the legendary music of Axel Fox. In general, the music in Beverly Hills Cop 3 is just a single thing. It was mega-popular techno back then. And the roll went that way.
And here in the “World of Wonders” Axel acts not secretly, as would the characters of modern films, but deliberately openly. Even "broad walking." Ellis De Wold was the head of the “World of Wonders”. And Axel Foley just needs De Wold to get nervous and start making mistakes.
Immediately I was pleasantly surprised by the appearance on the screen of John Saxon ("Nightmare on Elm Street" 1 and 3 parts) as Orrin Sandersen.
Foley, meanwhile, masters "World of Wonders." Outside and inside. Parallelly becoming a hero. Not like Uncle Dave’s Wonder World legend! Where is he? A hero-savior who curbed the deadly "Spider"!
The humor here is excellent! A squashed engine that sang inarticulate: "i-ba-ba-ba-bi-bey, i-ba-babi-babi-bey," then suddenly published: vyateu. And remember how Foley hastily mastered "Anihilator 2000". And his distillation into the elephant "Oki-Doki"!
The apogee will be a visit to the closed attraction "Happy Forest".
In this film, even the love line will appear. From the inconspicuous will grow into a fat line.
Actually, the movie is brilliant! I don’t care what you say about it!
The final part of the famous trilogy about funny cop Axel Foley, investigating crimes in the charming Beverly Hills, was slightly disappointing for fans of the franchise, but perhaps this reaction was justified by the fact that the film became one of the symbols of the 80s; in the 90s, when Hollywood changed priorities, the film did not work.
Although the picture still has not lost its charm, holding on to the charisma of the hero Eddie Murphy, this time investigating the murder of his boss. Director John Landis, who previously starred Eddie Murphy in the films “Coming to America” and “Switching Places”, most of all brought the third part to comedy, to the style of the first film. But the rather unpredictable scenario still makes the film a real, strong action movie, giving pleasure when watching fans of the genre.
The famous motif in the tape of John Landis sounds little; in place of Harold Faltermier came Neil Rogers, who wrote a very jazzy, but all nostalgic soundtrack.
So, the third part of the famous action movie, although it looks very peculiar for 1994, but still do not miss the final film about Axel Foley. It should not disappoint you.
