I didn’t really like the movie even when I was a kid. The only thing I noted in it was a certain charge of celebration, cheerful madness, a feeling of pushing boundaries. While other science fiction put people in the world of outer space, here the distant cosmos was placed almost under the door. It resonated in the 11-year-old's mind because it was in line with a recent childhood dream to find something fantastic without going far out of his yard. But that's where the pros actually ended. - Agents are constantly rubbing game to their victims with erased memory. Are they really going to live by believing in such a labuda? - An elephant-sized beetle can fit into human skin. How is it? Yes, we can assume that he has some kind of reduction technology for this, but it is good to mention such things in a couple of phrases. - Kay first erased Jay's memory and then invited him to the office for an interview. Why would he go there if he doesn't remember anything about the alien and has no motivation? - All agents are called by one letter. But English only has 26 letters. There are more than 26 employees, don’t you think? - If a tiny pistol shoots as well as a bazooka, why any other weapon? - The tow trucker is threatened with a gun. Just show me you have it, too, and you can take it back. He defended himself perfectly. Going to a beetle in the stomach to get a weapon there is nonsense. Why was Jay sure he wouldn't get chewed? How did he not suffocate? - I have never accepted and will never accept galactic nonsense. Bullshit. But the main drawback of the film is that there is a single villain, and he is absolutely ridiculous, the whole image of a dirty baggy bum does not compare with the villains of other fiction of his time. This villain is not commensurate with the scale of the film itself, the concept itself: something like “War of the Worlds” is happening, and the heroes are tasked with killing just one jerk? Even though they have guns that half a quarter carries around? Do I have to worry about that? Usually in movies, the hero has very limited resources and has to defeat a superior opponent, and here there is a huge organization of conventionally good, they have all the technologies of the galaxy, and here they all have the enemy ... is Edgar? Also, I'm kind of sorry for Will Smith, who basically played a parody of himself. Whether it was a comedy in itself is not a question. But this is part of the parody of Independence Day, which came out just a year earlier. Where Smith played a more or less serious role.
There is such a category of films seen at the very beginning of the zero, which personify the carefree and happy childhood of an entire generation. Now, however, and do not remember that the first caught the eye: the animated series, which then went on STS, or the first part of the Sonnenfeld trilogy. But the most indelible impression was left by the appearance of the Edgar beetle - a great lover of sugar and cockroaches. The gradual change in the body, which, ultimately, cannot contain this vile creature, in the distant childhood was able to alarm for a long time. Two decades later, you understand where Carlos Juante drew inspiration from, creating the image of Edgar, that his prototype, if you can say so, was a scorpion that shocked the imagination of little Carlos in El Paso (you can’t say anything: the fears and violent imagination of one child scared another after so many years).
Vincent D'Onafrio's performance is half the success of the first installment of the franchise, with his chilling facial expressions depicting a crumpled and foreign body within himself. The presence of a terrible and memorable villain is not a guarantee of success, according to David Koepp, who studied Lowell’s comics in detail, he supplemented the code of “people in black” with several points and reproached the creators of “International” that they simply “scored” the mythology of the universe. It was the creative acumen and devoted love for his brainchild that made the original film an example of a charming light comedy in the genre of “buddy cop”, which could not be surpassed by either the sequel or the third part, and certainly not by the insolvent spin-off. The entertainment industry today is not able to present to the audience anything like this for various reasons.
For me, the first “Men in Black” is a fusion of talented artists, designers, screenwriters and charismatic actors, and Frank, ready at any time of the year to come to the rescue and save from melancholy. Agent Kay, whom Ethan Cohen presents as a slightly father figure who must reconcile Jay with his father’s absence, is Jay’s antipode, but their backstory is no less exciting than their joint adventures, which will find their development in later parts of the trilogy. Hurrying to his beloved Kay in 1961, he witnesses alien showdowns, after which he falls into the field of view of MIB agents. It is funny that Agent Alpha even then defines the character of the young man as incapable and devoid of any sense of humor, although the latter is not quite so: Kay is a bad storyteller of funny stories that the popcorn story showed, but he is easily ready to laugh at a decent joke performed by Jay at an interview.
Another thing is Jay, who can find a way to get out of any trouble and has a good sense of humor, especially his barbs at the morgue worker are remembered. One offers improvisation, the other acts according to the rules, and it is curious to watch such a mini father-son duel. An important feature of the film is the work of Beau Welsh, who said that for him the most memorable moment of the film was the episode when two partners climb in an elevator, and the doors to a new world for Jay are open. The first arrival in the secret temple and the knowledge of the new world is comparable here with religious experience. A sense of nostalgia for those sixties without Welsh would have been impossible: he created architecture in the film, inspired by the works of the great modernist Eames and futurists such as Santiago Calatrava and Niemeyer. Welsh’s amazing flair anticipated another fashion for retro, here you also have eternally alive Elvis in addition.
Reading the story of the creation of the attributes of the first film, you are amazed at how grandiose it is: from creating agent costumes, invented by Mary Vogt and inspired by Cary Grant, to Harlocker’s search for spare parts for prototype guns. The amazing enthusiasm of creative people can now be regarded as a piece of goods, once again confirming the bulbousness of the nineties for the Western entertainment industry. Inexhaustible optimism will decline after September 2001. Now, after so many years, the scenes when a beetle kills a disinfectant, or hordes of cockroaches in a restaurant, cause only a smile, but also comes the realization that the 1997 blockbuster has passed the test of time, surpassing many pompous films of our time primarily for its ease, refined sense of humor and inimitable acting duet.
If anyone looks for a serious attitude towards the universe, the human world and the Masonic underground organizations that hide the truth from us, he will surely be upset. “Men in Black” is a rather lightweight picture, with a dynamic plot, which, nevertheless, contains several weighty philosophical theses. But do not think that Barry Sonnendfeld has disparaged his work - the brilliant cast of Tommy Lee Jones, Will Smith and Vincent D'Onofrio acts harmoniously, and special effects even after two decades look very attractive.
If you haven’t figured out “Men in Black,” it’s an autonomous Earth Guard. Protected from what? From foreign visitors, all kinds of humanoids and aliens. Some, nevertheless, manage to knock out a “earthly visa” and get a job working in some tavern or bombing the streets of night New York. Have you seen Casablanca? Here is the “blue ball” and becomes a haven for many alien guest workers, among whom are scoundrels. Just in the latter case, men in black funeral suits and come into play.
There is no attempt at science fiction in the film. Rather, it’s a bit of a satire, but it’s still a social satire. At the end of the twentieth millennium, many areas of culture were influenced by the fear of the unknown, and Sonnenfeld’s idea was no exception. All this is presented with a dose of humor, pop-cultural references and traditional human values. This is a very pleasant thought in no less pleasant execution.
Having not yet seen the new “Men in Black”, I wanted to see the film, which began the franchise – the first part with Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith. Various special services have been filmed about them, but there is one that acts in front of everyone and does not mask its activities. This is useless, because these guys have special things that erase people’s memories, making them forget what happened a minute or two ago. Their name is Men in Black. They wear strict black suits, exclusively white shirts, black ties, glasses and shoes. They make sure that the Earth is not attacked by aliens, so that those who arrive on it live in peace and do not hooliganize. It is here that Agent Kay (Jones) works, to whom Agent Jay (Smith) is assigned as partners.
Despite the fact that the film was released 22 years ago, it is still interesting, fresh and, most interestingly, relevant. I think a lot of people have watched it many times, but it’s not boring. There are such paintings that no matter how much you look, will be in demand and which will be interesting to see once again as the first. And most jokes will be perceived as recognizable, but fresh.
The fact that it turned out to be a great merit of Barry Sonnenfeld, who chose Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith for the roles of Kay and Jay, respectively. Both played incredibly cool - one - a dry, callous servant, clearly following the rules, the other - a young, liberated guy, striking a charge of energy. One is old, the other is young. One is white, the other is black. One lives according to old principles, the other is modern. In short, they are opposite as heaven and earth, but at the same time they complement each other, making up for the shortcomings of the partner with their advantages. Perhaps, the pair of on-screen characters Kay and Jay are some of the best screen couples in the history of cinema (that’s my opinion and I think it has the right to live). But the role of the young agent Kay could get Chris O’Connell, but he refused it, believing that he had enough to play inexperienced partners of someone more venerable. O’Connell, if you remember, played Robin in “Batman Forever” and “Batman and Robin” just in the mid-90s.
Plus, there is a Russian dubbing from Rudolf Pankov and Vsevolod Kuznetsov, who perfectly fit into the images of the heroes and, if instead of their voices to hear others, I think that the feeling / impression of viewing will be completely different. Again, if you think about Jay O’Connell, it’s going to be very difficult, because Will Smith is already inextricably associated with the franchise (and now it’s kind of unusual to watch the new Man in Black without him and without Tommy Lee).
If you think about the alien movies that came out before the Men in Black — most of them aliens are evil creatures that want to kill people. Yes, in the Sonnenfeld project, they also kill, but after all, the genre affiliation of alien paintings is completely different. The same “Aliens”, “Predator”, “Something”, “Invasion of Body Thieves”, “Faculty”, “Independence Day”, “The Abyss”, “The X-Files” – these films and series tell about evil aliens and films belong to fantastic thrillers and horrors, and “Men in Black” is a comedy fantastic action movie filled with a lot of gags and funny situations. Even the final battle with a giant cockroach is riddled with jokes, which is why it is perceived not as a battle on which the fate of mankind depends, but as a fun attraction.
"Men in Black" 1997 is an hour and a half hobby, which captures from the first seconds, from the very start credits and releases only with a black background, on which the final credits melt. Excellent computer graphics, a chic game and a chic acting tandem, a cool soundtrack, amazing makeup work, cool images of aliens and cool chips of the type of celebrities who are actually aliens are the key advantages of Men in Black, who over the years do not lose their qualities. I think that no matter how many restarts of the franchise or how many sequels were not removed – the first part no one will ever surpass.
But look at you. I do not impose my opinion on anyone.
In 1997, this picture blew up the box office and again awakened the audience’s love for summer blockbusters.
Because for the first time in the entire period of the 90s, something equally brainless and caricatured comes out, but pleasant and fascinating.
'Men in Black' is an old urban legend walking around the states about a strange kind of citizen investigating everything related to UFOs and other extraterrestrial conspiracy.
And like any urban legend, the story of the men in black is overgrown with a ton of speculation and fantasy.
On the basis of such fantasies about a special unit of the FBI, the comic first appeared, which out of hand did not sell well.
But one day the stories with pictures fell into the hands of Barry Sonnenfeld, a specialist in creating a good idiotic comedy. At that time, the director was already famous for his dilogy pro 'The Adams Family'.
And here we are 'Men in Black'. The work is independent, telling the simplest plot about the capture of the world, but using a win-win way to captivate the story - competently built characters.
Agents Kay and Jay are already cult guys, they've been like that since the beginning. This is thanks to the old but working backbone of any Buddy Movi - one character is naive and reckless, the second - tired of work, life, as cold as possible, but we all understand what he really is.
And, of course, the world proposed by the writers works on history. Headquarters ' Men in Black' you can study endlessly. Their place of work is chaos, where aliens and agents mix.
'Men in Black' is a strong and easy to watch sci-fi comedy, already considered a cult and almost classic. Good.
“Men in Black” is a cult tape that tells about the everyday life of a secret organization of the same name, which is engaged in controlling the stay of aliens on Earth. All fans of shooting with big guns - welcome.
The plot in the "LVH" is quite schematic and is needed only to justify the action itself. No special plot twists or scenario revelations the tape does not prepare, but the story itself is quite strong, albeit simple, and to follow it is quite interesting.
Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones together formed a surprisingly funny and organic screen duo. Agent Jay is new to the business, everything is a curiosity for him, and often he tries to dilute the tension with a joke of humor. Kay is already a hardened professional, for whom saving the world from an alien threat is more of a routine than an adventure. The relationship between the two is really interesting.
It is worth noting and very good at the time of release special effects, both computer and practical. And even though the graphics at the moment are already outdated, still the film looks quite pleasant.
There is practically no action in the “LvCh” as such, but thanks to the dynamic narrative and the setting itself, the film does not get bored absolutely. The tape shows several species of aliens and the way they hide among people, has a very interesting and elaborate lore, provides the viewer with a very decent humorous component and a cool title theme written by Danny Elfman.
Coming to the finale, ‘Men in Black’ is a really good movie that I’ve watched I can’t remember how many times. It’s lightweight, fun in places and still as interesting as it was in VHS days. I recommend it.
I think that many film lovers remember this film and animated series, which in the 90s gained good popularity. It is hard to believe, but since the release of the tape has been more than 20 years, and it still looks good.
Plot. Once upon a time, a secret bureau for cooperation with aliens was created on Earth. Its goal is to prevent crimes of representatives of extraterrestrial civilizations and conceal information about the presence of aliens on Earth (so that ordinary citizens do not panic). Agent Kay is looking for a new partner and finds James Edwards, who will henceforth be named Jay.
The storyline is quite primitive, it is not able to offer something unexpected and shocking. Instead, she leisurely leads the viewer by the pen to the expected finale. Someone may like it, because with the help of this approach, you can not be distracted by building versions and some guesses, but just wait for a regular final battle. By the way, it seemed to me that 8 minutes is a negligible short period of time, and that it took much more time to save the planet?
Atmosphere. Powerful guns, cool costumes, a terrible alien monster... What else do you need for a beautiful evening? Sometimes, however, for the sake of beautiful shootouts, authors will sacrifice the main task of the bureau: to keep secrets. The characters in many scenes seem to deliberately spit on any kind of secrecy. I would also like to say a little bit about acting. Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith coped perfectly with the roles of special agents. But Linda Fiorentino (Laurel Weaver) really upset me. Throughout the film, she will walk with an unflappable face.
Humor. The hero of Will Smith is a cheerful person, and it is mainly he will let go of various kinds of jokes and get into funny situations. From the successful come to mind scenes with selection in the ranks of agents and acceptance of alien births.
Music. Good work was done with musical accompaniment. The picture will sound disturbing and full of suspense melodies. In addition to them, there are ordinary tracks. The most memorable song is Elvis Presley "Promised Land", sounding in the car, and the track in the final credits.
Result. An unusual and interesting movie, the brightest representative of the genre of comedy fiction. Do you want to see the movie for those who haven’t seen it? Absolutely. Will “Men in Black” bring positive emotions to the viewer? Definitely.

Who controls visitors from other worlds, for which impressionable earthlings are not yet ready in the run-up to the third millennium? Their organization is the Men in Black. They are secretive, intelligent, always ready for dangers of a global scale and are excellent at covering their tracks. Only here is the disadvantage - their work does not allow them to lead a personal life, so recruitment for work of beginners goes unnoticed, but constantly. How happy Agent Jay should have felt, having got into the office of the LHF, stuffed with aliens, plowing the expanses of outer space for an unimaginable number of years!
Of course, you feel that the creation of “Men in Black” was strongly influenced by the dark and dramatic “X-Files”, but in the film everything is presented less depressing and even comedic. This was the reason for the huge success and mass audience sympathy. Even after more than two decades, this film can be confidently called one of the best among those that came out in the nineties. In addition to the well-designed main characters, excellent acting and good message, "Men in Black" is remarkable for its amazing visual authenticity. In 1997, when computer graphics was still in its infancy, special effects look better and more reliable than in the two sequels and numerous blockbusters of the 2010s. Isn't that amazing? In the future, the budget began to allocate more volume.
It is impossible not to mention the main villain, in comparison with which even the monsters from the thriller "Mutants" of the same year look funny. A giant cockroach masquerading as farmer Edgar is one of the most memorable movie monsters of all time. I have no doubt that many viewers at one time were frightened after watching this film on the big screens and began to feel fear for the six-legged inhabitants of the sewers. This is an important plus of “Men in Black”: despite the comedic direction, we still showed aliens who are really dangerous and can kill a person if they have such a desire. It is a pity that we have not seen this in the sequels.
Without a doubt, this film became an important stage in the career of actors such as .
Tommy Lee Jones, Will Smith and Vincent D'Onofrio. We know all of them primarily from the “Men in Black.” At that time, Smith had not yet traded with film studios for money, and directors primarily thought about the plot of their creations, not about profits. Everything was simple and joyful, not like fifteen years later, when the release of the third part was preparing for the rental. As the sad experience of the 2010s shows, you can release as many continuations of sensational tapes as you like, but the original source will remain unsurpassed. The duo of agents hunting for an arthropod alien is inimitable.
It turns out that aliens not only exist, but also live near us. Or rather, with the Americans in Manhattan. Contacts are controlled by a special unit, the Men in Black. And they have to neutralize a dangerous alien beetle that threatens to destroy not a lot of the Galaxy.
Barry Sonnenfeld is a famous Spielbergian cameraman. But having gone to directors, he did not become less masterful - Get the Shorty, the Addams Family is now a classic of comedy. However, oddly enough, the rise and failures are associated with the Men in Black – the swamp of sequels sucked. But the first Men in Black were incredibly good. The formula of success seems to be simple: a couple of cops from the militants of the 90s re-qualify into fantastic cops who also guess the trend of political correctness - black, white, and even with a woman on the pick-up, fill the screen with almost continuous action with special effects (by the way, the dynamics are visible in the timekeeping - less than 100 minutes) and jokes-jokes somewhere in between (and there was a diverse mass culture right between Elvis, who flew home, and Dennis Rodman, who stayed).
Cops are not the same - Tommy Lee Jones' phlegmatism is offset by Will Smith's pretty on-screen clown with a face and facial expressions competing with Jim Carrey. We must also bear in mind that although we are talking about aliens and fiction, but in some ages special effects did not overshadow the cool script and just funny characters: gossip dog, whips - lovers of coffee and cigarettes, a beetle in the skin of a farmer Edgar (an excellent, by the way, makeup). And galaxies are held hostage and in the spirit of the theory of relativity. And laughter and adventure.
I liked this movie and I enjoyed watching it. Even against the background of better sequels, the first part seems more uniform to me. Here, Will Smith is not so tightly portrayed as a clown and his curves do not cause confusion.
Although here we already have a stamp in the form of a pair of heroes, which is so ancient that it has already dried up and hardened. However, this is a standard start for this kind of seemingly comedy tapes - you can remember "48 Hours", "Blade", "Lethal Weapon", the same "Matrix". But the plot is cheerful and the best thing about this film is special effects. They looked amazing for those years. The story is more or less standard. An experienced special agent picks up a partner to monitor the migration of alien citizens together. There are a lot of jokes about migrants. The humor here seemed to me more calm, just as calm narrative without any rushing and fuss. And the irony with which Agent Kay speaks already brings a smile.
Although I personally, before watching it back in the 90s, expected to see something in the spirit of “X-Files”. There is a great lack of style and some serious sadness in the investigations of Mulder and Scully. The characters were closer to life. But expectations were not met. Here we have more caricature production with deliberately pretentious elements of the life of special agents - black jackets, special weapons, a bunker of special agents, a supercar and a cleaning team that rakes up and camouflages all the roughness of the agent service.
And what I noticed in this film, in the context of the sequels, is that the agents were swapping the memories of shocking incidents from the general public for more mundane ones. In the sequels, Agent Jay just bluntly explains what he saw. Why only to sparkle with a stick at the same time is unclear.
I like this movie and recommend it. It smells like something naive and childish. Also, it is so ironic that in the work routine, we sometimes forget to pay attention to small things that seem insignificant at first glance.

Many people believe that aliens exist, but few have actually seen them. But the agents of the service “Men in black” have to face every day with make-up aliens arriving on Earth, where they have the opportunity to live a quiet life and not get involved in large-scale conflicts. A formidable alien beetle arrives on our planet and at all costs it is necessary to get the Galaxy on the belt of Orion. And to find out what it is, in the case are agents Kay and Jay, which no monster is not a hindrance.
Barry Sonnenfeld's film delights viewers with its magical serenity. This is not just a fantastic action movie, but also a great comedy. It is here that the talent of Will Smith, whom we have already seen in Independence Day, is revealed in all its glory, but only in Men in Black did he show us that he is able to arouse interest in any role and not bother the public at all.
He looks great with Tommy Lee Jones. One of the most respected Oscar winners plays a more serious and thoughtful role, but that does not prevent him from appearing cheerful and fervent. Of course, the film only benefits from the participation of Jones and it would be very difficult to imagine in his place anyone else.
Bottom line: Men in Black is an example of a great entertaining movie that doesn’t get outdated over time. This story can be revisited an infinite number of times and never gets bored. Yes, maybe it has its controversial moments, but the film Sonnenfeld and belongs to the fantastic genre.

We work in the dark (in black suits) to serve the light (Earth)
Something new and amazing in the film about alien invaders of the Earth and space creatures in general showed us this film. The creators took a big risk, giving this to the audience. Usually, all films, even comedies, with the main theme about aliens are accompanied by something real or similar to reality, or something new, scientific and not shown in films of this genre before. But we were shown ridiculed for all articles by the agency “Men in Black”, engaged in catching various aliens and other extraterrestrial evil spirits in black suits. That is, the fighters defending the Earth do not wear any armor - they are dressed in black elegant suits. But soon everything falls into place when watching the film: after all, the characters here work in a top-secret organization, they merge with the crowd. And of course, in addition to costumes, the characters are equipped with supertechnologies, namely weapons and cars. There are no complaints about the weapon: it is ridiculed here as much as possible, it looks scary and funny at the same time, there are many of it, so you can see some kind of references and parody in this. But the car, although also with its own "things", but still, here, personally, I saw not a parody, but to some extent a licked idea (plagiarism is not possible to call this). Their car is largely reminiscent of the car from the trilogy "Back to the future" - they have few differences.
The plot in the picture is very good. We are shown a lot of things, which later served as the impetus for other films. It shows how hard it is to get into a secret organization, how difficult it is for beginners, what work Men in Black do. Despite the fact that the film is a comedy, this kind of development can not but please. Since this is the first film from the trilogy, although at first the creators did not think about sequels, here time is given to the formation of one of the characters and the development, proper development, another main character and the main villain. There’s a lot of hidden philosophy in the film, despite its genre, events teach us a lot. Everything was selected for the picture as it should have been: a good and unusual action for an action movie, a simple and entertaining plot for a comedy, many unreal things for fiction. This is one of the few films in which all the genres, of which there are many, are made with taste and just the way we would like to see, to completely relax and have fun. The picture easily falls in love with absolutely any viewer, because there are a lot of things combined, and, for example, fans of aliens and aliens can now understand exactly how important these universes, where we are not the only living beings, are just our “neighbors”, and that although they harm our planet, in fact, as if they complement the entire galaxy, they need it and us.
The soundtrack turned out quite high quality, although it seems that not everything is so smooth. Very often, compositions sound, and they do not always accurately convey all the emotions of the characters, and yet here, due to the combination of comedy, action film and fiction, it is the soundtrack that sags a little under the overall impression of the picture. The special effects for that time were very good. You can immediately see that the creators did a lot of work, because for such a film computer graphics needed enough, otherwise the film did not look at all. And in my opinion, of the entire trilogy, there are less bad special effects in this film. The acting of Tommy Lee Jones and Vincent D’Onofrio is great. Will Smith plays for the most part a comedy character, which we have seen many times in his performance. There is a lot of humor here, it is just the same family, both children and parents can laugh: for comedy-fiction, a very good approach. I would like to highlight the Russian voiceover, namely the full dubbing, which here, frankly, unsuccessful. For the Russian viewer, it can easily spoil viewing the picture, but everyone has different tastes, so you may not even pay attention to this.
The film, or rather, the idea embodied in it with a secret organization to combat alien invaders, turned out and was able to surprise many. Such a development of events, which seems to be ridiculed, but seems to teach us a lot, absolutely goes into the picture’s hands. A very good film, which, unfortunately, is not without mistakes, and still with fiction somewhere even overdone.
“The employee needs new memories. And... let them be happy. ?
I think the first part is weaker than the next 2 films. Here we have the half of the movie, almost just talking about "who it is," "what they do," talking to witnesses, and Edgar walking around looking for a thing that knocks everything in its path. Yes, it is important that the viewer understands what he is watching, it is important that Jay understands where he is, but this makes the first half of the film, albeit not boring, but less interesting than the entire subsequent action. The action will begin only in the middle of the film. The plot itself is very simple everything goes in one straight line (which, by the way, though not radically, but corrected in the second part). At the very least, why would there be a contest for a new agent, if both the viewer and Kay were sure that Jay would take the place, and no one in this scene is showing themselves except Will Smith. The script very well prescribes and distinguishes the two main characters - makes a difference in age, characters, their emotions, attitude to the cause, experience. It all looks very good together, and the humor from Jay, against the background of serious Kay, turns out to be more. The actors are very well matched, and Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones complement each other and the film with their charisma, images. Although in general, it is not necessary to play here in the acting plan, no one did it, and did not try to do it, but still there were not enough emotions in moments. But Vincent D’Onofrio had to really play his character Edgar, and he did it very, very well, everything – and facial expressions and gait, movements in general, everything looked, so to speak, natural and natural. As for humor, it's there, but it comes almost exclusively from Jay. The atmosphere of the film is tuned to comedy, which cannot be ignored. Special effects can not be called ideal, although for such a genre they are quite acceptable and such, and it is worth noting they are better than in 2 parts, after 5 years. In the first part, the cartoon is not so flashy. And in the end, the Beetle looks, albeit not natural, but very spectacular. The most memorable and vivid moments of the film, in my opinion, are the birth and ending, the rest goes by.
Conclusion: If there was less talking, walking, and more dynamic action, some unexpected turn of events, because straightforwardness is boring, the film would be much better. So if I ever want to see a movie about people in black, I will definitely not be watching the first part.

To a certain extent, the first part of Men in Black was a turning point for blockbusters. After all, it was after her that so many directors began to believe that there should be as much humor in action films as possible. Good or bad to judge clearly not me, but some in their tapes clearly overstepped the stick. People in black on the contrary, hold an almost perfect balance between humor and action.
The fact that Barry Sonnenfeld really knows how to make people laugh was convinced by his films about the Adams family. But with the release of people in black, he proved that he was also able to add a lot of really spectacular scenes to the picture. In combination with advanced for its time special effects, it gave a stunning effect.
And this is despite the extremely simple and understandable plot, besides exploiting the urban legend that is common in the United States. But here, the mysterious men in black have become a not creepy government organization that intimidates all people who have seen aliens. Rather, it's a body that controls alien life and protects us from unnecessary knowledge.
Well, this is complemented by an excellent screen duo of Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith. It would seem that all the clichés about the old agent preparing a young shifter were played in dozens of films, only here they still continue to touch again and again.
Very good comedy fiction does not hesitate to interpret the plot moves already used many times, while creating something of its own on their basis.

Fiction is also scientific, but it is just a magnificently staged action film with a mixture of humorous notes that are like the tense veins of the heart and these veins in excellent symbiosis.
Not leaving indifferent to almost all film lovers, the fantastic Blockbuster “Men in Black” where Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith performed in the acting tandem, roughly speaking, “takes the viewer by the spine” and immerses him in a world full of dangers of adventures and aliens, yes, because many of them are real scum of the universe, it can even be a cosmic cockroach, or an octopus from a distant galaxy where water is not needed at all, even an octopus!
Barry Sonnenfeld and Steven Spielberg have done a lot of work and as a result, the viewer sees on the screen exactly what the film was intended to simply not miss and did not lose anything by special effects or caste, an amazing work that is worthy of praise.
They're protecting the Earth from the threat of the galaxies, they're the ordinary people who will pass side by side with us, but we won't notice, because for our own safety, they can erase our memories, but don't worry, we will be given new and happy memories.
Here they are the names of the heroes of the names of the actors who worked and brought to life the beautiful, miracles and fantastic story of the IHL.
Tomie Lee Jones and Will Smith We see them, empathize with them, because they play and play at the proper level because you can not imagine good fiction without good acting, and what is fantastic, cinema can not be seen without good actors.
You will definitely make the right decision if you watch this fantastic "buddy-movie", well, if not, then listen to a couple of songs Danny Elfman, it will convince you, he was responsible for more than good music.
To sum up and not to whip you up: Fantastic blockbuster for ages.

- Do you know that Elvis is dead?
- No, he's not dead. He flew home.
Men in Black is one of the few films that, although they belong to comic books, are not related to superheroics. Instead of the colorful tight-fitting tights we're used to seeing on most popular characters, there are black funeral suits and dark sunglasses here - an integral part of this franchise.
Haven't you ever felt like your neighbor was acting a little weird? Or your schoolteacher is clearly not from this planet. Yes, aliens do exist. And they live among us. A special unit was created specifically to control alien activity on Earth. They hide from ordinary inhabitants the existence of extraterrestrial life, clean up the raging aliens, and control their population. They are the Men in Black.
The film was a hit in the late 90s. Here mixed so many genres that even the most exquisite movie gourmet will have nothing to complain about. The basis, of course, is fantastic. But this is comedy fiction, made by canon. The creators decided not to push the film chords, and focused on the printed original. It was a very good movie that you can watch with the whole family.
Director Barry Sonnenfeld assembled a team of first-class actors. Tommy Lee Jones, Tony Shelub, Rip Thorne, and of course Will Smith. Everyone fits into their roles perfectly and showed that they are in their places.
On special effects here you can put a solid five. For '97, of course. Everything is done qualitatively and realistically. There's nothing to pick on. Apparently, the creators did not spare money for a good picture.
They are the greatest secret of the Earth. They work for an unofficial government agency that regulates alien activities on Earth. They are the best, last and only line of defense of the Earth from the scum of the universe. Their work is secret, their weapons are perfect, they have no equal, they leave no trace. They are the Men in Black.
The 1997 film looks very fresh and very innovative, all the inventions and finds of the director with aliens and people in black left an indelible mark in world cinema, giving rise to many sequels and similar films.
The film has the ability to fascinate and attract the attention of not only strong acting duets Tommy Lee Jones (omniscient) and Will Smith (young young man). Cute, cheerful green men who have just incredible jokes. And the plot, which seems to be similar to all other films, cool guys save the world but at the same time the film is fun, easy it can be watched and reviewed more than once, both in the circle of friends and family and alone, you will get pleasure anyway.
But the film, in addition to fun and laughter, makes you think that there is something in life besides work, family and friends, something special for each person. And despite the comic character of Smith, he becomes instantly sorry, outwardly he is cheerful and carefree, but at heart he is lonely and his apartment is empty, there is no one nearby to prevent him from joining the Men in Black organization. He becomes a fleeting vision and even people will not remember his name, but this sadness is fleeting and then we again plunge into a dizzying whirlwind of chases, shootouts and acquaintances with different heroes.
"Men in Black" is a new world where you can see yourself renewed and learn something special, even if they are just stars.
Plot. The focus is on two guys, Agent Jay and Agent Kay. Those guys! After all, they work in the most deadly department of the Earth to catch aliens. They are the biggest secret of planet Earth. That's understandable. After all, their mission is to shoot down nasty bugs and other animals. In a word, killer men.
Actors play. Will Smitt, who's a great character, is an alien hunter. Well done. Tommy Lee Jones didn’t play well either – he played a man with a magic weapon. Vincent Do Nofrio just amazed me with his acting - a beetle man. When he was walking around town looking for a pendant, it was something. What a mess he was! In short, all the actors are good - coped with 5 c +!
The scenery. Bombovskie. The whole HHL office is great. All this alien stuff is just brutal. It was fun when the ball was flying - I laughed. The whole office of the HDL - just splashes with beauty, sophistication and style. Respect.
Philosophy. The aliens among us, we have to do this! At the time, the film was very original and interesting. It still looks good. The moral is that we are not alone in the universe. That's it.
Bottom line: Men in Black is a real hit movie in the genre of fantastic comedy! Everybody watch. That includes me. But the sequel was weaker. But that's okay - the movie is good too. Meanwhile, from me:
Is that something new to the review of this film? It seems that the reviewers of the film search have already made the general impression of the people from the HDL (the 8th most running estimate), and went through some subtleties, aspects of this picture. It is not a masterpiece, but one of the most beloved entertaining films. In order to brighten up the evening is definitely suitable! Unpretentious, understandable to the child and not causing rejection in adult humor; the prescribed character joke-minute Jay; the abundance of cute and terrible aliens; well, of course, the surprise of the tranquility of these superheroes hiding from society, accustomed to the appearance of another star threatening the Earth - all this is so clear and just fits in the head of the viewer; there is such enthusiasm for what is happening that you do not want to look for flaws. And what about then, except for all the unloved, childish impressions?
Beetle! How damn disgusting is this alien mix of grasshopper and cockroach. And well, from the computer drawing of fleas in its natural form, I did not get goosebumps, but old Edgar with hanging layers of skin was very, very frightening. Even so, I confess, it still scares me. Mimics, clothes - polite stupid psychopath lumberjack, as the image was successful. Not to mention Agent Kay.
Once upon a time, after the success of the first HDL, an animated series was launched. Very dynamic, driving, he through the plot twists finished the viewer characters of the heroic couple. And although Kay's past, as far as I remember, was again given very little time - and there he is a mysterious wise dude with a minimum of information about the past, but through dangerous cases he quickly prescribed in character, habits, etc. I lacked some kind of close dialogue between the characters who were opening the veil of old life. I missed Kay. In subsequent films, he became much more, and the third one is actually devoted to him. But they are weaker in content, a lot of frank stupid moments, and the drama that they are trying to drag into an adventure action goes bad.
The first "Men in Black" sample genre. Maybe that's why every six months there is a desire to revise it?

“...and lest the inhabitants go mad, they must know nothing about it! ?
In my opinion, it sounded extremely convincing. Especially in light of the earlier thought about the difference between a supposedly reasonable person and an uncontrolled crowd of such. This is not news in itself, of course, but in relation to the topic... Almost original, let's say.
And that's actually a great foundation. Powerful base. No, really. After all, the lion’s share of jokes (and there are plenty of them in the film, despite the fact that the quality of this does not suffer at all) one way or another concerns the topic of special secrecy of the MIB “division”. Only one neutralizer is worth it! Great find! Remember this: The doctor needs new memories. May they be happy! What about the refraction, methane, and reflected light of Venus? I think it's great.
In general, humor in the picture is complete order. Of course, you can’t call him a child – after all, the topic is almost serious, the relevant questions are solved (no wonder the “standard galactic week to answer” is given). How not to sacrifice a few poor people like old Edward (a marvellous exchange of remarks about the rifle “farewell” as compensation), a sanitary service worker or, for example, a tow truck driver (“Oh, don’t!”). But the vulgarity here is not a penny, and it can not but please.
The final also deserves special mention. Postscript, I would say. A short, purely computer-generated sketch on the subject of ... ball games, let’s call it that. A kind of “thing-in-itself”, an attempt not to realize, but simply to imagine which, fraught with dislocation of the brain, no more, no less. But that, again, is just the final touch and that’s all. The question of what can (or should?) be an entertaining movie.
As for the assessment... Well, my former 10 (ah, youth, youth!) I will not put, let’s say, a lot of honor (genre, first of all). But from the real shortcomings I would single out, except for the “two-meter fighting cockroach”, which appeared to us, thank God, under the curtain. "Not aesthetic." I don't. Although "on amino acids" it flies deftly, there is no dispute.
By the way, in the second film, such a “good” will not be an example more, and T. Lee Jones for 5 years, this feeling will pass a little. As a result, there is only one “Men in Black” in my collection so far. This one. Acknowledged by the good
After the famous cameraman Barry Sonnenfeld made his debut as a director with the macabre comedy The Adams Family (1991), there was no doubt that this guy, who changed his profession at 38 years old (once again), would later have no problems with funding. However, having overcome the grandmaster hundred million mark of box office from the first run, Sonnenfeld with two of his next comedies - the second part of "The Adams Family" (1993) and "To Catch a Shorty" (1995) - earned much less.
And then came 1997 - the year of the release of the second series of "Jurassic Park", it seemed predetermined the distribution at the box office. But, despite the presence of a clear favorite, Sonnenfeld’s fantastic comedy Men in Black, released a month and a half after the start of the Spielberg blockbuster, far exceeded even the most daring assumptions on its own account. Sonnenfeld not only bypassed the main hitmaker of the twentieth century, but overcame a super indicator of $ 250 million, becoming the box office vice-champion of the year in North America and losing in the end only to the Titanic.
Perhaps the reason for Men in Black’s phenomenal success lies in the magical date of July 4. It was on this day a year earlier in the United States started the main hit of 1996 – “Independence Day”. Having parodied in a sense the tape of Roland Emmerich, Sonnenfeld created a sparkling fantastic comedy about two agents of a secret state organization specializing in working with aliens who, it turns out, have long been registered on Earth, having learned to disguise themselves well as us.
“Men in Black” scoffs at the most “stereotypical cliches” of movies about UFOs and aliens from other planets. The struggle of two special agents with one evil intergalactic cockroach can be perceived as fiction with spectacular computer tricks, as a comic thriller and as an uncouth black parody. This film has another undoubted advantage: the temporality and, as a result, the lack of delays and unnecessary scenes, which is especially valuable in a time when nine out of ten comedies are clearly longer than they should be.
In addition, Men In Black has proven to be one of the most dexterous films in terms of combining real actors and digital characters. And here, for sure, Sonnenfeld useful not only the former camera experience, allowing you to thoroughly feel the space of the frame, but also the skills of a pornolabuch. Yes, the former cameraman of the Coen brothers, being a specialist in political science by training, began his career in film as a cameraman and director of porno movies. In his best years, he even managed to make one full-length film with naked performers a day.
Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith may well have felt like porn actors on the set, as they mostly had to work here with a void - with a blue background. Why not a full nudity? In such a situation, nothing but your talent can hide. In this sense, fiction needs star actors more than any other movie, even dramatic ones. Sonnenfeld invited Will Smith, who became famous thanks to Independence Day, to one of the main roles. The famous singer and successful showman immediately began to press the popularity of his brother on the pedestal - black N1 comedian Eddie Murphy, who was just Smith's idol, who did not hesitate (including here) to imitate his idol.
It is easy to imagine what excitement caused (judging by the box office) "Men in Black" in the distant 97 year. But all this is very easy to explain, because the priority role in the film was given to computer special effects, the film had a very non-standard and interesting idea, in the lead roles of a good Tommy Jones and confidently starting to the star Olympus Will Smith, and in order to consolidate the audience’s success and attention to the film everything was supported by humor. The film was really successful and the creators stretched the story about the mysterious secret guys to another 2 parts, successfully passed through the cinemas of the planet, albeit with a considerable run in the years between premieres.
Yes, the viewer for the first time watching "Men in Black" in the late 90s and the modern viewer of the 10s are different people. One gradually began to get used to the dominance of computer lotions, the other has already mastered them plenty, but this film is not built on the same schedule! Let's figure it out! What does this movie look like? In my opinion, this is a purely entertaining story, which is entertaining to watch, empathize with the characters somewhere, smile somewhere, and smile somewhere. It is difficult to understand why the first part has a higher rating than the second and even the third. In the third good 3D, good jokes, interesting plot, the idea is very nothing. The second part exceeds the first and third. If the first was just accelerating, and the third was invented only to make millions of dollars, the second was restless, was brighter, more interesting and more picturesque. But most viewers who have watched the trilogy are more inclined to lead the first. Surprisingly...
Of the three parts, the first, of course, is introductory. We are being introduced to who is what and what is who. Agent Kay introduces Agent Jay’s ineptitude, we get acquainted with the alien world, its features and roughnesses. It all looks like a standard computer arcade. The hero goes from mission to mission and performs various tasks, which each time become more complicated. Just like this. Essentially, the whole film is footage of the agents parking their car, getting out of the car and landing again for the chase. By the middle, it begins to ripple in the eyes. The makeup is really cool, and even after 17 years on a five-point scale you give it a strong four. All strangers are created for glory. Some of them are disgusting, some are funny, just in moderation. Lee Jones, like Smith, as well as other actors involved in the film - each in his place, there are no questions. And the plot is interesting. Passionate and attractive! BUT!! First of all, humor is not there, it is actually dead. All jokes are simple and banal, or stamped, and for a modern entertaining film, this moment is important. And the second: from the simplicity of this arcade, when Kay and Jay as planned (or as you like) perform missions and every action, there is a feeling that Barry Sonnenfeld is an ardent fan of military service, where everything is TOO clear, decomposed and understandable. This moment is depressing and depressing...
But still! The film is interesting, unusual, with its zest and high-quality work of actors and makeup artists. You can and even need to watch, but you should not experience special euphoria. To do this, the second and third parts of the popular trilogy about two secret agents protecting our Earth from alien evil spirits! Good to see you guys!
It's basically bullshit. The aliens are among us, but in hiding, the secret service, the recruit is a tough negro, a wise professional mentor, a gloomy morgue worker, an overgrown cockroach, and, of course, a "golacteco," which is undoubtedly "dangerous."
To the charm of idiocy, to the extravaganza of delirium, this clearly does not reach. Some reviewers say they loved the movie for that. No, no, there are much crazier and more beautiful examples of thrash, growing in their madness to genius. For a parody, it’s all extremely predictable, like “if the frame is terribly strange person and an ordinary dog, and it is known that in the frame is an alien, then guess who exactly.” This was in our cartoon about Alice Seleznev, and, most likely, in the original Bulychev.
The film also falls short of “just comedy” because only the character of Will Smith jokes funny, and even then not every time. A senior friend joked, “This is Agent Black ... this is Agent White.” For a thriller with horror elements, special effects are hideously clumsy and cheap (compare at least from the same year with the Fifth Element, which now, seventeen years later, looks quite modern and colorful), and the imagination of artists who invented the appearance of aliens is extremely poor. All aliens are slimy, vile and either with tentacles or "under insects." The “cockroach”, which the Beetle, is still not bad - the creature is quite impressive when in its true appearance, and simply unrealistically disgusting when it fits in the skin of the person killed by it.
Sometimes there's some stupid tragedy in the movie. “You will have to give up all ties...” – scares the older friend of the hero Will. I see that this office is just “swords in the dark and watchmen on the wall”, and they do not give a vow of celibacy by chance? They're in black too... Or the final "bride waited." What pink drool!
The natural behavior of the characters is not just at zero, it goes deep into the minus. A pathologist discovered a body with no internal organs, which turned out to be a bio-robot with a mini-humanoid in its head... look at her face, no shock, no disbelief, no attempts to figure out what the hell it is. The policeman saw that the criminal climbed like a spider-man on the wall - also no emotions on his face. Then he decided to erase his past life as nothing to do. Apparently, he had no parents, no friends, no girlfriend. A man has lived in a vacuum all his life, not otherwise.
The plot somehow and do not even want to comment, it is just a set of stamps. Yes, perhaps it was intended, they say, a parody, but it did not become more interesting to look at the theft of the artifact, the chase, the “girl in trouble” and the final confrontation.
I don't understand the excitement. Apparently nostalgic.
I think it is pointless to once again outline the storyline of the film, well, who among us has not heard about “Men in Black”. Movies, animated series, comics, furry MOPS - they are like our relatives. If a stranger on the street shouts out and asks: “You have not accidentally seen people in black here”, the first thing he thinks about will be a film.
Their service is both dangerous and difficult
People in Black have been watched by me more than once, on the one hand, a frivolous science fiction film, agree it is not “Silence of the Lambs”, but what a stunning picture turned out. Characters are remembered for once, the total seriousness of Kay and the absolute delimitation of Jay – blows dreams. Dialogues, harsh remarks Kay casually, situations in which Jay falls through inexperience and excessive self-confidence, the code of people in black - the filmmakers managed to deploy the MiB universe in a feature film. After watching, I was impressed.
The devil is in the little things
Separately, I will draw your attention to the scrupulousness with which the Men in Black are built, the scenery and props of the film are thought out to the smallest details, from the headquarters to the appearance of agents. You look, you get positive emotions, you do not notice the thoughtfulness of each detail, although it is so – it means everything is in order, it is an indicator of quality work. Imagine you're holding a poster gun, and I didn't think about it when I was watching it. It wasn't until then.
Watching their work was interesting even for the third time.
The actors perfectly coped with the task set before them, to say the least, the plot prepared a lot of surprises, and individual personalities of this film are delighted after watching. One kind of some actors are more than once remembered in savoring “chic” moments. What is not typical for such films, the intrigue remains at a magnificently high quality level. The script is written perfectly. The musical accompaniment is also delightful. I think this movie would be much better to watch in the cinema. In the company of other viewers and on the big screen, it would be easier to assess its scope - it is epic, it cannot be taken away from him.
People who have yet to get acquainted with this tape I confess to be kindly envious, the impressions will be bright - there is no doubt about it, I, although I love more serious films, I will gladly watch the famous MiB once again when they are once again, as already proven, everyone's favorite hit will be played on TV. Because this film, like "The Fifth Element," is "perfect" in its own way, or is striving for it.
To be honest, I haven’t seen many films that have become a legend. Recently, it came to “Men in Black.” I heard a lot about this painting and decided to watch it. I won’t say that the tape struck me, but there was something in it that is not in other films. What could it have been? Well, first, we can start with the standard script of American films: aliens, the capture and destruction of the earth, brave astronauts / warriors who oppose it. A little of this madman is present in this picture, but its main difference from other films of this genre is all presented in a comic form. The same aliens, the same “defenders,” but a hundred times funnier and more creative.
Give the galaxy or destroy the Earth. Sorry. (c)
The plot, as I said above, is unusual. Earth from aliens guarded by some people in Black, who do not depend on anyone. In this film I liked the so-called banter. He was present almost everywhere. These are unusual forms of aliens (which, by the way, can still sharpen) and such slightly mocking jokes over especially dangerous alien invaders. In general, if we talk about the plot, there are no particularly dramatic moments here. The relationship between Agent Kay and Jay is quite moving. Like dad's. But beyond that, there is nothing more to cry about. If you are looking for a fantastic movie with elements of drama, then you are not here. "Men in Black" is pure banter over everything and everything that does not play with vulgar jokes or scenes. This is just a fun movie when watching which you do not really strain, but just laugh until you fall.
But I don't know how to give birth!
- What can I do? Just stand there and catch. (c)
The cast. This movie is really great. The first in the frame of the main characters appears Tommy Lee Jones (Agent Kay). His role as mentor and "coolest with a big gun" succeeded. The actor did a great job with the image. Everything looked not fresh, but very natural, as if it should be in fact. Also, his character came out not only a great agent, but also a very sensitive person towards others (and especially his “intern”). Will Smith is very fond of his charisma, which in this film is simply off the scale. The actor managed one hundred percent. His character is a simple guy who just looks at things but is very practical, which makes him a great agent. Most of the humor came from him.
One and a half thousand years ago, everyone knew that the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everyone knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew humans were the only ones on this planet. Imagine what you will know tomorrow. (c)
The movie also has great music. Very atmospheric and fits into certain scenes and complements them. Several soundtracks even added to my playlist.
And as a result, "Men in Black" is a great fantastic film with elements of banter. This is not a serious film about morality, human actions, etc. There is no annoying philosophy, vulgar jokes and the Apocalypse in its original form. The plot is simple, but at the same time very interesting, but a little predictable. Therefore, for those who have not watched it will be a great comedy for the evening, and for those who have watched – an occasion to refresh the memory of such a funny “intergalactic war”. It's just a good movie. And period.

Humans have been trying to make contact with alien intelligence for years. Aliens have been living among us for years. Their activities on Earth are controlled by a top-secret organization called the Men in Black. When one of the experienced agents Kay needs a new partner, a large number of volunteers are recruited, but the choice rests on a young police officer who has shown himself well when trying to detain a guest from another planet. In the future, two partners get into dizzying adventures, and it is on their actions that the fate of the Earth depends. Here, uncomplicated at first glance, the plot was created for the film “Men in Black”, but the way it is presented allows the picture to stand out against the background of similar films.
Unlike most competitors, the atmosphere of the film is saturated with sparkling humor. Moreover, all the funny moments are correctly selected and distributed over screen time, which does not allow the picture to slide into a stupid comedy or become too serious a film about saving the world.
Despite the comedic focus of the film, it has good special effects. Capable of competing with the leading blockbusters of the time.
As a result, the film “Men in Black” is a great fantastic comedy with good humor, an interesting plot, an excellent cast and spectacular special effects. But most importantly, this picture is a part of my childhood and that of many others. The film is definitely recommended to watch.
I remember a long time ago my father brought home a tape of the movie Men in Black. Then it just blew my mind! At the time, everything was perfect for me: cool guns, great special effects, non-stop action. “Men in Black” became my favorite movie.
After reviewing it many years later, I noticed some details that I hadn’t noticed before. If you think about it a little bit, you might think that the organization of HDL could well exist. Have you ever walked into a room and forgotten why you were here? You see an alien who is going to kill you. Then, instantly, the Men in Black come running, grab the alien and erase your memory. Case solved!
I’ve watched this movie over 50,382 times and I’ll watch it again. Barry Sonnenfeld was able to shoot a dynamic, interesting and insanely funny fantastic comedy that every fan of the genre should watch and appreciate. Therefore, the award “Oscar” for best makeup and box office over 589 million dollars “Men in black” received deservedly.
“A millennium and a half ago, everyone knew that the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everyone thought the Earth was flat. Fifteen minutes ago, you knew that man was the most intelligent species on the planet. What will you learn tomorrow?
- You know the difference between us? It suits me!
We never remember them. They are unknown to ordinary people. They help aliens settle down on our planet and fight hostile aliens. They are the Men in Black and they protect the Earth from the scum of the universe. And so for 40 years, the agency needs replenishment and the best armed forces of the United States are involved in the service. Only one police officer, James Edwards, passes the test. He's Agent Jay now. Together with experienced and experienced employee Agent Kay, they must protect the Earth from the invasion of beetles.
My classmates thought I was crazy, but I knew that the teacher fell from somewhere on Venus!
Miss Edelson, she's actually from Jupiter.
The story captures its originality. I have never seen anything like this: aliens live among us, they are indistinguishable from humans. It seems that the Americans have exhausted all the good ideas, but no! With every new fantasy film, you begin to believe in everything that is told there. For example, many actors, directors and screenwriters are aliens, although I never doubted that they came from another galaxy! Sylvester Stallone and Danny DeVito were unexpected.
Do you know what alien ingests water with sugar and leaves a green spectral trail?
- That was yesterday at the quiz show. Damn, I forgot...
Tommy Lee Jones - Agent Kay - even in the life of Tommy gives the impression of a harsh, strict, sophisticated experience, at the same time calm and reasonable. Therefore, such a role is very suitable for him. When you read an article or a book and see the word agent, someone like Agent Kay comes to mind. At first impression, he seems dry and stiff, but on closer inspection you get to know Kay better and start thinking about him differently.
Look after her.
What? Me?
- Just stand there and catch!
- Will he be able to deliver?
- A great specialist!
Will Smith - Agent Jay - one of the most humorous actors in American cinema and his hero, a newcomer to the alien business, Agent Jay - turned out to be such a funny guy! And also a very good specialist in the police industry - you can make sure of this, seeing how he pursues the alien without stopping, running into a 6-7-storey building, in the dark shoots exactly at or a small and suspicious "girl." And his jokes are always on the subject.
Earth is not a place for galactic picnics.
Despite the abundance of alien animals in the film, such characters as Zed - Rip Thorne - the harsh head of the department, Laurel - Linda Fiorentino - a female coroner, which will not surprise either the aliens coming out of the heads of dead people or giant bugs. But separately it is necessary to note Vincent D'Onofrio - playing the role of Edgar, in which the Beetle and the movements, the gait - are unique. I really believed that there was an alien in front of me.
Two dead aliens. The doctor needs new memories.
- Hmm...
- Let them be happy!
As I mentioned, humorously everything is fine. Kay and Jay jokes, the birth scene, the test scene in uncomfortable chairs and with breaking pencils. How much humor aliens bring to us, such as the magnificent four yellowish and elongated aliens. But I bet everyone remembers Frank's talking pug! It is also necessary to note the amazing work of make-up artists and costume designers: you look at aliens and you see that these are not special effects - this is painstaking and hard work, and the result is magnificent!
Edwards, change your clothes.
- In what?
- In a black funeral suit.
Barry Sonnenfeld has created a new world for me and I find it hard not to believe it. I know they're out there, people in black funeral suits, black glasses, alien weapons, appearing under the theme of M.I.B. Danny Elfman, who protects us from aliens and erases our memories if we find out anything. These are the Men in Black.
Did you sell a reverbellating carbonizer to a saflopoid without a license?
One and a half thousand years ago, everyone knew that the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everyone knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew humans were the only ones on this planet. Imagine what you will know tomorrow.
"Men in Black" - in my opinion, one of the most memorable films of the late 90's, what's there, in just a decade. I don’t even know which is cooler, “The Fifth Element” by Luke Besson, or “Men in Black” by Barry Sonnenfeld. As you might have guessed, I didn’t just compare these two movies, because the fact is that both have aliens in them, they both want to conquer the world, and both have two defenders of the Earth, and both were released in the same year, 1997. Oddly enough, there is another, very, very identical similarity between the films - it's their budget, ninety million exactly, each movie costs, well, if you start talking about box office, the result was too different, let's say, this round completely won the movie "Men in Black". In general, I think it is no longer necessary to compare, because the two films turned out to be successful, they are remembered to this day, and they will hardly ever be forgotten, you just need to watch, and then choose a winner for yourself, for me personally, both films are at the level, both are very good, both are something special in their own way.
But I don't know how to give birth!
- What can I do? Just stand there and catch.
There's a concept in the world of cinema that I came up with, and it probably ties two actors together forever, if they've played in the sequel. We know many screen pairs, without which we can not imagine a new sequel to the old film. Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith, this is another Hollywood screen pair, without which we will not be able to present a new part of this film in the future. The same thing always happens. If according to the script, there should be two characters in the film, then usually, even always, these are two completely different, completely different people who, by the end of the film, begin to cherish each other and understand something, this has always been and will always be the case. The right move of the screenwriters, because it is much more interesting to watch a movie in which dolls or robots play, but actors in which each has its own role, showing the character invented by the screenwriters.
What was that?
- Sugar.
- I haven't seen sugar do that.
Kevin Brown / Agent Kay, balanced, serious (too), purposeful person. James Darrell Edwards III / Agent Jay, talkative (too), cheerful (too). These two characters work for a secret, completely unknown organization called MIB. It deals with the harmony and order of the globe, as it is filled with other cosmic, non-terrestrial forms of life, although people do not know this, since those who covertly (very) disguise themselves and live between people, as if they were all also creatures of God. I really like the movie, first of all I’m crazy about the idea. A secret organization, a lot of funny aliens living among us, in a word, there is something to see in the film, and there is something to raise your mood, if it is of course bad. The first part of the people in black, won the Oscar for the best makeup, I think all the other films were not in competition, look and will also think so. "Men in Black" is an inimitable, magnificent and the only fantastic, comedic action movie. To sum up, I love this movie.
