Underrated Environmental Fantastic Thriller Andrew Davis’s film Chain Reaction, released in 1996, was one of the most high-profile failures of the season and at the moment the picture is forgotten, low-rated by film critics and has a low rating on Imdb. “Chain reaction” in the genre can be defined as an environmental-fiction thriller, telling about a chain of strange events in the laboratory, where experiments are conducted to extract hydrogen from water as a source of energy in the world of the near future, choking from environmental asthma.
The undoubted plus of the film I can call its relevance now and even a certain philosophical orientation, because in the film of action is not so much that for the director Andrew Davis it looks a little strange in the light of his films such as “The Fugitive”, “In Siege” and “Above the Law”, but it seems quite a conscious choice in the implementation of this picture. It focuses on the very essence of the story, not on a powerful action that begins to unfold closer to the end.
The cast of the picture is perfectly selected, although the main success of the picture I can call the trio Keanu Reeves, Rachel Weitz and Morgan Freeman.
The work of the cameraman Frank Tidy in the film is very unusual, futuristic and cold-distant. Also perfectly approached the film and the soundtrack of the outstanding composer Jerry Goldsmith.
So, if you are looking for a movie with meaning, which also has a genre predisposition, then the film “Chain Reaction” you should like.
