A shower was outside the window. The mood was wine and melancholy. Going to the tab "Comedy", for a long time I did not think that the film that will be in my field of view is "Housewife". Attracted absolutely everything: cast, plot, year, slogan.
Talented at lying, she, like all women in the world, wanted simple true love. Acquaintance with an interesting architect, who, as a pleasant bonus, was not bad, did not make, in the first hours of acquaintance, her heart slowly melt. But the morning brought it back to reality: you need to move on, less fantasize and spin as you can.
Without much difficulty, she found his failed cozy nest (the coordinates of which he either deliberately or mistakenly left her) and decided to let his wings rest there for a while. Having plunged into the atmosphere of a small town, she quickly felt at home. Introducing herself as Mrs. Architect, she decorated the house, packed the fridge, made new friends and even met the parents of her “husband”.
Unfortunately, the “husband” is back. He is somewhat shocked and indignant, but he quickly realizes that it is still possible to profit from this situation for himself, which, undoubtedly, he immediately takes advantage of.
Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn didn’t seem to be in a movie together. But this tandem, in the end, satisfied and admired me. Goldie's charm is delightful and alluring, you can't take your eyes off her, even though I wouldn't call her pretty. Steve was persuasive and nice. As I said, the atmosphere of a small town where everyone is cute and sociable, but at the same time unobtrusive. A funny scenario, in which the framework of comedy and drama were maintained, in perfect proportion relative to each other.
In short, the film became some little star in the dark sky that lit up my mood, made me smile.
The only thing is, maybe, what I would like in time and humor a little more ...

Goldie Hawn was once the sex symbol of her generation. She kept publishing sex. Hawn is a wonderful American actress and I appreciate and respect her. The film with her participation "Overboard" is to this day a cult comedy for all time, which over the years can be revised and revised, and how Goldie incredibly funny played, this is a separate story.
This film by British director Frank Oz called Housewife and caught my attention because of Goldie Hawn, who played the main role here. Comedy with elements of melodrama was very successful, kind, cute, funny. The movie looked easy, and its story is very comical, and everything was filmed with a smile.
We see the main character who built a luxury house and wanted to give it to his beloved woman, as well as his hand and heart. After being refused, the man left his hometown for Boston, where he met a sexy waitress for one night. When he told her about his home and his story, he had no idea what would happen. A strange waitress went to his hometown, settled in the house he built, and also informed everyone that she was his wife.
The comedy was playful and funny. You watch the whole movie with a smile, and the actors do their job. The duet from Goldie and Steve Martin turned out great. In general, Martin is a wonderful comedian, and this is his role. The most awkward and funny scenes he always plays are incredibly funny. Both actors just lit up in comedy and laughed the audience to tears.
It seems like a simple one-time movie, but there is something sweet and heartfelt about it that I liked. The film is very good, so I want to stay in it forever. If you want to laugh from the heart, or suddenly love the main actors from the picture, then safely watch this story, it will please you.
Housewife is an American comedy with a taste of melodrama in 1992. This light film has its own charm and charm, which feels good after watching. And Goldie Hawn... She's beautiful. I say yes to comedy and it deserves attention. Thank you.
The plot of this film is reminiscent of the joke that has long been roaming the Internet: "Woman, be brave: like a man came up, took bread, quickly cut sausages, borscht poured, asked: "What to cook for tomorrow?". And it's all yours. Such a simple instruction. And Gwen Phillips went even further down this path, not limited to the nutritional needs of the male sex.
Poor Newton Davis! The average man, with talent, but without a hole, did not live long enough; he meekly loved a modest and average girl like him, and suddenly he was on you! His life is cleaned up by a blonde and restless tornado. If Newton knew how it would turn out, he would say thank you to Miss Becky, for whom she was so killed that she rejected him and his beautiful house, wrapped in a gift tape.
The lady who entered Davis’ life by the will of fate turns out to be a very intriguing special. If everything about him becomes clear almost from the very beginning, then everything is incomprehensible to the very end. Gwen so enthusiastically molds a myth out of his life that behind these heaps and you do not see what you can believe in this endless fantasy stream. But whatever she invents about herself, her very nature remains unchanged - lightness, humor, female charm and constant activity conquer everyone without exception.
As soon as Gwen shows up, Newton’s passion for someone else immediately begins to seem strange. How could you? Alas, but Becky loses to the “wife” of his former admirer on all counts. What were they doing back-and-forth in the car, but were they discussing contemporary art? Gwen Phillips clearly shook the humble architect, so much so that he sharply became an unusually attractive man. He had a wild light in his eyes, indicating the constant expectation of all sorts of set-ups from the new wife. And Becky suddenly flared up with fresh feelings for him (that's a sleazy girl). How good that Newton abandoned his original plan, especially since he was so close to his goal. It's good he picked the right girl.
In fact, he had almost no chance. Even with his head clouded by a short-haired brunette, he would still chase after that bus, because his mind knew better than to find him, you can not miss the notorious light that she brought to his life. If he falls in love with her, Gwen will put him on both shoulder blades. And their marriage will be happy, and the lawn in front of the house will be greener, and the career will go uphill - everything will come true if Newton will be incomparable Gwen.
Well, or Jessica.
And since the days of paganism, we love their eccentricities! Bard Maxim Krivosheev!
If you remember the movie "Bearbird" with Robert De Niro and Marlon Brando, you could remember the name of the director who made that picture. The picture turned out to be cool, many people looked and appreciated it. But did you remember the director? Frank Oz is the man who directed "Bearfish," Michael Caine's "Broken Fraudsters," and the relatively recent film "Death at a Funeral." As we can see, all films are diverse with a bias towards the criminal side. But Frank Oz is famous for being able to make a movie not only about robbers or scammers, but also worthwhile comedies in which you will not find toilet humor, but subtle satirical - always please. The best confirmation of my words, the picture “Housewife” with Goldie Hawn and Steve Martin. Steve Martin is known by many as a great comedian. Goldie, perhaps, also lit up in this genre. And in Housewife, we have the perfect opportunity to witness this amazing duo in full combat comedy readiness.
For some, it's liquid, and for some, it's chalk. This idea came to my mind at the beginning of this film. Imagine for a moment that you meet a girl, know her from school, love her with all your heart and decide to present a gift. It's the best gift ever! With your brains, you designed and built a miracle house, tied it up with a festive ribbon, put a blindfold on your beloved and brought her to this house with the aim of proposing a hand and heart. They did. But... We got a turn. Yeah, that happens too. Bright, juicy with a great picture start! It's done. Will the movie catch on? And then there will be something unimaginable.
Steve Martin's character meets Gwen (Goldie Hawn). Charming blonde pretty girl will introduce herself as a Hungarian waitress and like in English or boom-boom. This meeting will take place at one noble evening. Not to say that Newton Davis fell under her spell. Rather, her behavior, radically different from that of others, hooked this architect. What kind of behavior? He asked her permission to go home. She agreed. Out. Come on. And back exactly where she came from, because she lives above the restaurant bar. He already had a case and wanted to leave, but remembered that he needed to call. He asks for permission to call her and says yes. They come, but there is no phone at all. That's such a beautiful liar. How can you not love her?
Well, when she lets him do something, and he runs away like a drunk cat, you can be sure that she will come to visit you, to the very house he built for his first love.
The miracles of this beauty will not stop, but will continue. All we have to do is give her a standing ovation for the pleasure. After all, only a Real Housewife can masterfully take to the hands of this architect, who imagines himself not to be God all by whom!

- Well, it was a great marriage... Until you came along!
It so happened that the dramas shot in Silicon Valley try to squeeze a tear out of the viewer from an empty place, laugh with toilet humor, tell a story that is so confusing that the head begins to go around. I’m not talking about the fact that dramas have ceased to be something fabulous and turned into something fantastic. It’s so fantastic that you just don’t believe it. And it is for this reason that I increasingly want to return to the days of old, time-tested films, where there were action films in which there were good guys opposing the bad guys, and there were different shades of gray “as in life.” Where horror movies were frightened not by torn limbs, but by decalitres of blood, but by the very idea. And where were the dramas that resembled stories from life seasoned with some fabulousness for taste. Today we are going to talk about such a drama. So this is "Housewife."
Newton Davis is a talented architect who doesn’t get along well with people for the simple reason that he lives in a dream world. In a world where people listen to his advice. A world where everything happens the way he wants. One might call a hero an egotist, but I would call him a “fat-skinned man.” A man who is basically a nice guy, but he does not pay attention to the problems of others because he is completely immersed in his dreams and problems. At least, it was until Newt met the waitress Gwen, who “does not understand a word of English.”
In any case, this feeling is created, but you should not deceive yourself. Gwen is an excellent actress who is able to play a drama from scratch and come up with a story so incredible that it is impossible not to believe it. At the same time, Gwen can not be called a liar. Rather, she tells fairy tales and gives ambiguous answers from which she misleads people, but she does this not pursuing any selfish goals, but rather because of her love for art.
And these people are so different from each other, but so lonely in the soul people meet in the cafe "Budapest" and this meeting will be fateful for them.
In fact, it could be limited to the phrase – this film was directed by Frank Oz. The man who was responsible for such beautiful films as “Broken Fraudsters”, “What about Bob?” and “The Horror Shop”. Beautiful films that could give a charge of vivacity and positivity to anyone who decides to watch these and other films of the maestro. But don’t forget that not everyone has seen these films, and some of those present hear such names as Frank Oz, Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn for the first time in their lives. And it is for these people that it is worth talking about the film in detail.
So, Gwen played by Goldie Hawn. A girl who with her charming smile is able to attract the attention of the heroes, and the viewer to her person. A kind and sweet girl who disposes people to her due to the fact that she can talk with others on different topics, while coming up with the most incredible stories on the go. As it happened with Newt’s house, where Gwen came without demand, but so that others did not have unnecessary questions, the heroine of Goldie Hawn called herself the wife of the owner of the mansion. And to give weight to her words, Gwen told the locals and parents of Newt interesting and incredible stories from life. Whether the newlyweds met at the hospital where Gwen lay after being hit by a car and ending with Newt getting a promotion at work. At the same time, Gwen describes his “beloved” almost as a prince on a white horse, which disposes the locals to him, and at the same time made the heart of Newt’s former lover Becky beat more often at the mention of the name of the hero Steve Martin. Well, Gwen will have a rival who will do everything to get the purse, heart and other organs of Newton Jones, but the law of the genre for which we love this kind of film, right?
And yes, it is not superfluous to say that Goldie Hawn, as a rule, plays a frightened and insecure young lady who lived all his life on everything prepared, and once in an extreme situation, her heroines immediately begin to call for help and get into funny and sometimes deadly situations. Here, the heroine Goldie Hawn decided to try for herself in a new role, which she brilliantly managed.
As for the hero Steve Martin, he also found himself in a new role for himself. As a rule, his characters are the center of history and attract the viewer’s attention to themselves. And it does not matter whether Steve Martin plays a man who achieved everything or a stupid boy from the countryside, the viewer still follows his adventures with interest. In the same film, Steve Martin, as a true gentleman, gave way to a lady, and he played a man who prefers work to communicate with people. Steve Martin plays a sad and lonely man who himself cannot understand what he wants from life, and thanks to this, the audience begins to sympathize with his hero. In the end, there are a lot of people in the world who have not completely understood themselves and who knows, perhaps the viewer will see himself in the hero of Steve Martin?
As for the other aspects of the picture, humor is amusing, entertaining and devoid of the vulgarity that is so beloved in modern comedies. The drama is present, but it does not try to squeeze a tear out of the viewer from an empty place, but rather shows life as it is. As for the other actors, everyone coped with their roles perfectly. What "parents" Gwen, that Newt's boss is that guy in the third row on the left who brazenly pulled a snack off the tray while nobody sees. Well, except for the viewer, but the latter will not betray the actor, right? So if you were looking for a kind and life-affirming comedy with a touch of drama (Well, or vice versa), then watch Housewife, you will not regret it.

If there comes a moment when fatigue from modern comedies with a ubiquitous theme of sex makes you doubt the wonderful properties of the whole genre, you should pay attention to the lyrical developments of the past years. The duet of Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn will not only help you out, giving a great mood, but also help to gather the whole family at the screen, because this comedy is for a cozy home viewing.
The first scene combines both romantic motives and undisguised irony on the institution of marriage and stereotypes in human relationships. The hero of Steve Martin, a talented architect, with such inspiration presents his girlfriend with a dream house with a large red bow at the entrance, and his eyes glow exactly until he receives a fleeting “no” in response. Three months pass and this man has a fateful meeting with another woman. Brilliant that the plot does not make long preludes before meeting the two main characters. Twenty minutes later, the story unfolds with enviable speed. This is a love story that appeared as a joke, developed akin to misunderstanding and it is not difficult to guess about every positive result. Indeed, the main plot blanks are guessed from afar, but the very development of events is so interesting and passes with a permanent smile on his face that an hour and a half of time fly by unnoticed.
Much of the film takes place in the charming American outback, away from the bustling city and its bustle. When the heroine gets on its streets, goes into a local shop with a natural wood interior, something warms inside. The house of the protagonist is located on a picturesque clearing by the lake. It feels like these scenes are most reminiscent of another great comedy "Funny Farm" with Chevy Chase. Feelings from watching a film resemble something between reading good children's literature and family dinner at the festive table. Against this cozy background, a quite adult story develops with quarrels and joys, inspiration and disappointment. Not all scenes are equally interesting, but this is corrected by their quick change.
The characters of the film live different lives and confirmation of this is revealed as the plot develops. The gap between the pedantic architect and the fickle young woman waitress does not prevent this duet from living a small life on the screen, which, at least within the framework of this story, among the local beauties, one wants to believe. Therefore, the picture will be an excellent choice for a simple home viewing with the family.

Believe in the dream and it will become a reality.
And again I write and again I start the resume with the words “Reviewing this film once again like 5” for a long time could not remember the title of the film but recently I watched “Overboard” and remembered about this film.
Let’s start with actors Goldie Hawn and Steve Martin coped just perfectly, as evidenced by the later film again with their participation “Newcomers”. Apparently, the director liked this tandem. In my opinion, the supporting actors also played well.
Now that rocks the movie itself. It’s the most romantic movie I’ve ever seen. Only in this film, the ability to dream, the inner world of a person and his feelings conquer the materiality of this world. And at the same time, the film is very positive and funny I think that this is not the last time I saw it and I can only envy those who will watch it for the first time. Enjoy your visit.
