Most people expect strength from an opponent, but few expect cunning from their opponent. This film took note of a long time ago, but then did not find a translation, and then forgot about it. Now he caught my eye and decided to take a look. I am particularly interested in school violence. This is not a suitable word in this context. In general, such stories cause emotions, and I love when dramas catch on.
Of course, this is not such a heartwarming story as in the Estonian "Class", but it is even better. Gabriel is constantly bullied by a group of bullying classmates led by Guillermo. Then the mobile phone will be taken away, then throw a ball in the face, then beat just like that. In general, the main character constantly goes to school with fear of new executions. Parents notice that the child’s behavior has changed, but can not call him to a frank conversation. Gabrielle understands that adults cannot help him. He himself will have to muster the courage to fight back against this gang.
It was an interesting psychological drama. The main character caused me conflicting feelings. It seems that on the one hand it is purely human pity for a boy who is constantly humiliated. On the other hand, I don’t like his behavior in some ways. And it's not his cowardice in front of the guys, but his attitude towards his younger sister. At school, he is intimidated, and at home he intimidates his sister, asserting himself at the expense of someone who is weaker. And the ending confused me. I'd like to talk about it, but I'd rather not have spoilers.
No less interesting is the character Guillermo. This is a child from a wealthy family who has everything. He doesn't need someone else's phone. He likes the feeling of power over someone, because at home everyone obeys the strict father. By the way, the film liked this contrast of two boys. At first, they seem completely opposite to each other, but in some ways they are still similar. It was interesting to watch them at school and at home.
The cast is normal. There are few familiar faces here for me. I only knew Antonio de la Torre as Gabriel's father. Everyone played well, so I won’t even single anyone out. Overall, I liked the movie, but the ending itself was a lot of fun. It is unclear what will happen next. But since the director gave us an alternative, I still choose happy ending.
