Where are you going from the submarine? The newest nuclear strategic submarine of the US Navy "Archelon" - goes into the ocean on first combat duty. Among the 24 combat missiles in its arsenal, four are equipped with biological weapons, even more secret than anything else. Of course, one of the warheads leaks and a virus breaks free, which quickly mutates from the increased radiation background. The crew is covered with bronze spots, some lose pain sensitivity, but otherwise everything is fine and even the temperature is within normal limits (and this is already familiar to everyone, typical symptoms of asymptomatic course of the disease). A very insidious invention, and it seems that its developers themselves do not know how it works. The only thing that is known for certain is that it is not treated (and even not worth trying).
The boat on duty decided not to take off - it's what money is worth, somehow get where you need. The crew will be in isolation for now. Moreover, the work of a strategic submarine missile carrier, it is in principle remote - at least 6-7 thousand kilometers from the target.
Rarely ridiculous movie. I can't even say bad. He's ridiculous, in some places. It turns out that Alien “Testament” was removed in the USSR in 1986. No Aliens. But the parallels with references, you know where, ridiculously full. There is even a typical android erotoman (Armen series), who (you will laugh) plays the flute. Then he will marry a starfish, but there is a very sad story, so I will not multiply spoilers.
The Baltics are lazily playing imperialism and debauchery. However, even in the very lair of this depravity, the hold mechanic "Archelon" Emergency Jack still shames the devil with the help of nunchaku, literally kicking the horns off. An unforgettable experience as a child.
Donatas Banionis as a psychologist (and ex-specialist in training combat dolphins), whom the command sent to peep, and he eavesdrops, most of the plot sits with a sour look. However, which of him is a psychologist, we still remember “Solaris”, and here he will have to remember another related profession – the pastor from “Beware of the car”.
Meanwhile, the disease progresses and makeup artists do not regret bronze paint, so by the middle of the film, the actors already resemble zombies from low-budget Italian horror films of the 80s. And they behave the same way, except that they have not forgotten how to use weapons. And the missile launch codes remember, for a minute!
At the end of the film, the US military launches into orbit a combat spacecraft with the biblical name “Star of Bethlehem”. And you say, Ridley Scott, references, allusions! He is a pathetic craftsman against our Alexei Saltykov - the director of the picture! In the Dolphin's Scream, allusions of these are just a treasure trove. Everyone is acting like an idiot.
However, fans of exuberant movie fantasy filmed during the Cold War, for sure, will be interested. If desired, in the picture you can see a juicy, psychological (not without psychedelics) thriller on the verge of light horror, with elements of thrash. Perhaps this is the first Soviet experience in such a way. In the perestroika movie of this kind will already be in bulk, but, as a rule, the sense of proportion to its creators will sharply refuse (if it ever was, and then used to rely on art councils), and the field for "black" experiments will be exclusively native spaces, and this is far from so much fun.
