Where, where to go now? Armageddon is knocking on the door! It's a great movie. The action takes place in the Moldovan village of the early 60s. The guy's coming back from the army. She hopes to reconnect with her girlfriend. But it wasn't. No, she's formally free. But her mother is a devoted religious fanatic. He sees no one in his daughter’s elect, except as a Jehovah’s Witness.
At one time, I was curious to learn that this organization has such deep roots in Russia. Considering that it itself shaves the beginning in America at the end of the XIX century. Of course, I do not intend to characterize the objectivity of the authors. However, I would like to point out that, as a rule, during “preaching” questions are asked of a very dogmatic nature. Since many people are unfamiliar with them, “simple” explanations of “preachers” are often taken for truth. Jehovah's Witnesses are the best example. Nevertheless, the film voices the provisions of their teaching quite objectively. The ones they promote as hot dogs to this day. Anyone who has ever met me will agree with me.
But, going back to the film, I can add that even if you leave behind the scenes the attitude towards the Jehovah’s Witnesses, and evaluate only the quality of the production, it is worth watching. The sixties are an amazing time for national art. For the movie, too. Amazing characters. Original camera work. The scenes with the “Jordanian baptism” and restless dreams of the main character – Natalica are very impressive. The characters are written beautifully. For almost 100 minutes you will not be bored. It was as if he had actually gazed secretly into the keyhole of the occult life of the Soviet periphery of the middle of the last century. An amateur. This is exactly what I am.
