Revenge for fun Undoubtedly noteworthy thriller about the existence of which, unfortunately, few people know, which is not surprising, given that in Russia no one bothered to provide it with a translation. But if Johnny Depp or Angelina Jolie were to star here at least in the episode, it would change everything to the root and Stricken would be awarded not only voiceovers, but also a release on DVD, and even on Blu-ray.
Well, come on, this is a completely different, separate topic on which we will not focus attention. There is a viewer for this low-budget, but at least curiously played out picture, which has its modest advantages. The action revolves around a group of young people who just wanted to repay their friend Gaffy with the same cruel prank he liked to give them. A plan for revenge collapses when, by accidental negligence, Gaffy dies.
On this unexpected situation, the plot is built, all the action of which takes place in the forest and revolves around the corpse of Gaffy. There are no special effects here, the adrenaline film catches up with the help of a tense environment and nervous conversations of the heroes trying to understand what they now do.
Devote time to this thriller is worth those viewers who sympathize with films in which from the first to the last minute everything that happens is held within one scene and only sometimes in flashbacks you can see another “landscape”, as well as gradually revealing motives and personalities of the characters. And if the pictures built in this spirit attract you (in this case, with the help of flashbacks, we are shown for what atrocities the guys decided to punish their offender), then this movie is for you.
If you look at acting, the only obvious failure is Sean Gunn, who played Gaffy. With such appearance and physique as his, he should not play bully, but downtrodden sluts.
But the rest of the cast is perfect, and first and foremost is Kevin Patrick Walls, who I really respect for playing Terrence Christian in my favorite movie, Soul Keeper. Despite the fact that the filmography of the guy is quite small, each role they played in such a way that it remains only to regret that Walls at the beginning of the zeros stopped his acting career.
It’s great to see Jamie Kennedy here at the peak of popularity, after the super success of the first two parts of “The Scream”. Now the actor is known mainly for comedies, there is a rare opportunity to see him in a serious and ambiguous image - an unbalanced character, because of which the accident with Gaffy will not be the last problem of the characters.
It is impossible not to pay attention to the wonderful musical melodies that accompany everything that happens on the screen. The film is also perfectly recreated imitation of weather conditions, with all the appropriate sounds, movements of grass and trees, in general, everything that can be in a frightening night forest.
