Who says love is blind? If you like the work of Dan Aykroyd, then you should definitely watch this film. This is his very first film role, and it is simply incredible how it is not characteristic of his generally accepted comedic image. And it was even more amazing how well he played it. In Love at First Sight, Dan plays a blind, good-natured boy named Roy, who falls in love with a girl who, in an accident, caused him to be fired from his job. The girl Shirley, the heroine of Mary Ann McDonald, feeling guilty, escorts Roy home and as she communicates with him, suddenly imbues herself with mutual feelings that, despite all their rejection of the rest of the world, become only stronger with each passing hour. In fact, this is a very touching love story, which simply cannot leave the viewer indifferent.
But beyond the melodramatic component, it's amazing how subtle the humor is in this film. Despite the seriousness of the story, throughout the picture, funny moments related to the blindness of the hero now and then skip, but, importantly, they do not offend, but on the contrary, elevate Roy, who is an intellectual and independent person who knows how to positively treat himself and others, even if they do not like him. And just imagine how the most talented young Aykroyd can beat all this - you have to see it!
Unfortunately, this film is very rare, and at the moment, it can only be viewed in very mediocre quality in English on the YouTube portal. But I hope that soon I will be able to translate and introduce you to this magnificent debut picture by Dan Aykroyd.
