Action sportsman Billy Robinson, who recently became a successful racer, returned to his hometown to see old friends, as well as take part in a local motorcycle race. Unfortunately, the emergence of the charismatic champion stood across the throat of Ricky Malone. His passion, the beautiful Cindy, hastened to sleep with Billy. Of course, before the race, Ricky had a depressed mood, which led to a bad management, which led to an accident. A broken arm, a damaged bike and a shattered self-esteem - and it's all the fault of the damn Robinson! - at least so decided Malon. Now, at all costs, he must take part in the "big rally" - in the name of revenge!
To such a kind of competitive show as motorcycle racing, I do not care. Moreover, I refuse to consider racing bikes or cars as a sport. Sport is a set of systematic physical exertion, and all sorts of riders there only control mechanical devices, but someone puts them on a par with football players, boxers, swimmers? I beg you! Another thing is that I do not mind enjoying biker action, provided that it is dynamic. I remember being impressed by the cowboy bike chase in Harley and Marlborough. I even liked Xander Cage’s motorcycle tricks in Three Xs. Then, however, followed only disappointment: after the mentioned films to watch similar episodes in “Black Rain” and “Fast and Furious” was boring. I was afraid that “Winner Takes All” would also appear to my experienced eye as a secondary spectacle.
However, this sports thriller surprised me pleasantly. Despite the fact that the director did not try to trump either shooting, or juicy special effects, or even chases (!), nevertheless, he managed to create a movie that captivates the viewer with ultra-high-speed action. Although I am a humanist to the bone, to all sorts of tech toys there was always indifferent, yet this radically racing action movie fell to my taste. The ability to capture the attention of the consumer by accentuating an alien aspect is a sign of high directorial skill.
The film is recommended to connoisseurs of action-on-wheels like “Fast and Furious” or “Black Dog”.
