Ghosts of the Eternal City... An easy and soulful comedy on the theme of ghosts who love to prank.
In the center of the plot are four ghosts living in an ancient Roman castle with an elderly prince who is quite used to their company, although he did not see them. One day, the prince dies in an accident, and his nephew, who has moved into the castle, intends to sell it. In order not to be expelled, ghosts have to resort to various tricks, defending their habitat.
Before us is a wonderful, easy and airy movie, kind and soulful, with a touch of fantasy from the classic Italian cinema Antonio Pietrangeli (I knew her well, Visitor, Aduja and her friends), which in writing the script helped Ettora Skola, behind the camera was the constant operator Fellini, Giuseppe Rotunno, and the music was written by none other than Rota. A good company picked up, which speaks in favor of the fact that the film was successful, as each of them is a great master of his craft.
Also worth noting is the star cast of the film, which included Marcello Mastroianni (playing three characters), Eduardo De Filippo, Vittorio Gassman, Sandra Milo and Belinda Lee.
Although this movie is about the dark side - ghosts, but it is so light and kind that while watching it you even forget, so these ghosts are charming and funny and sometimes behave even more human than some people that you immediately imbue them with sympathy and empathize with them.
It is worth admitting that if you do not know whose movie this is, you can immediately think that this is the creation of Maestro Fellini’s brush, and of a later period, so much of it, from the atmosphere and style, to the absurd and buffoonery.
I recommend watching.
