Elusive. The movie begins somewhat surreal: in a white room, the main character Pietro (Michel Piccoli) meets a stranger in red. This is the background of the opening credits.
The narrative then moves on to the mundaneness of everyday life, to the present time of Pietro's lobelasa, where his many women rotate in a turbulent cycle (I counted five). However, cinema sometimes shows alternative ways of behavior in the past, sometimes just the past, sometimes, while still focusing on the present, already jumps into the future.
One day, Pietro sees a beautiful woman in blue in a store and then on the street by a blue car waiting for someone. Since then, the idea of the existence of this woman has become the main idea of the film. There will be many choices about who she is, what she likes, what places she likes to visit. The movie will ask the question, which is better – the pursuit of the ideal dream or unpredictable, but real, sensual woman. Is it possible to pursue a dream with a real woman next to you? Or was the main character not a woman in the blue? These questions the viewer will have to answer, moving to the final of the film.
Michel Piccoli as Pietro. I don't like this actor. His looks don't appeal. However, here shown by Michel passion, a certain dreaminess of the hero were convincing.
Lea Massari as Aureli. The first time I saw Lea in this movie. Beautiful woman. It was her character - impulsive, lively - that was one of the main driving forces of the film. The scenes with her participation are mostly interesting, ironic, permeated with the energy of her personality (it is very funny when Pietro returns to her with flowers, her reaction to these flowers and what followed).
Totally. In my opinion, compared to the more intense action of the first half of the film, there are too many philosophical thoughts that follow one after another without giving the viewer time to think about them. But for the spirit of the 70s (for example, in the clothes of the main character, the makeup of the women of the film), a very feminine Aurélie, sunny Paris, bright colors, a walk in the field with swinging herbs, a trip with a friend to the night city with adventures, for what there is, what to think about after the end of the movie.
