Confrontation with the Truth and Lies A magnificent film. Very strong. When I watched it for the first time in 1990, I didn’t realize much about it at the time. I remember this movie forever. After that, I couldn’t see it again. And today it happened. After watching this amazing film, I realized why I remember it so clearly for many years. Here is what I love and respect so much in Indian cinema, namely the confrontation between Truth and Lie, the triumph of Justice and the deserved punishment for scoundrels. And how else, because once committed a crime and coming out “dry from the water”, leaving justice, the criminal still can not go unpunished. Sooner or later Kara will overtake him, and she will be so terrible that the scoundrel will not have the next 10 lives to pay for his sin.
Director Subhash Ghai, one of the best directors of the 70-80s of the last century (along with such masters of that time as Babbar Subhash, Remesh Sippi, Khrishikesh Mukherjee). When this man made a movie, it was a story for all time, but it was a real story. Looking at the screen from beginning to end, you see not a perfectly shot film, not a fictional story for the audience, but a real story of the life of one or more families taking place before your eyes. And only when the credits appeared on the screen did the person realize that it was actually a movie. So faithfully, sensually, heartfeltly and sincerely it was done. This is incredible.
The actors who embodied the characters on the screen are simply incomparable. Anil Kapoor is simply irresistible, he conquers at first sight. In his eyes expressed all the feelings, all the emotions occurring in his soul. I always admire this actor, he is unique. How his eyes burn when there are tears in them, what a fire of anger his soul burns when someone hurts his family and friends of his character. It can't be repeated. Excellent.
And how excellent here is Minakshi Sheshadri, just words can not describe. Such actresses are born once every hundred years. It is impossible to repeat his manner of execution. Every role, every character is suffering, lived and experienced on the screen. Once you look into her bottomless eyes, you get lost in them. Executed at the highest level. I bow.
And of course, my favorite villain of all time is Amrish Puri. He's inimitable, as always. Such a notorious villain, scoundrel and villain can only be played by an actor of the highest professionalism. You hate every negative character from the beginning to the end of the movie. And when the main character deals with this creature of hell, you want to stand next to him, take up the weapon of revenge and destroy this scoundrel. It's incredible. Amrish Ji is unmatched.
The actors did not play a role here, they lived this story, feeling with every cell of their heart and soul all the pain, all the adversity, and all the joy, happiness and Love of their characters. Excellent. Only Indian actors are able to bring the story of their characters to the screen. So piercing, touching, sensual, truthful and truly experienced that you believe everything you see without a trace and it is impossible to restrain the tears flowing from your eyes, the anger tearing from the soul, the pain tearing your heart. These are incomparable sensations. And of course, this film deserves the highest praise that is possible. No other way.
