The real family will always be with you no matter what happens. A good old Indian film. It's the kind of person I grew up with, the kind of person I spent my childhood with, where everything is so true in Indian. I have loved this film since childhood, I have watched it many times, I love this film cordially and tenderly.
Sunil Dutt and Nutan are incredible. And other actors are delighted, especially Lalita Pavar. Here is a woman in her repertoire, how many such roles she had. It's like they're written for her.
Jivindas Lal (Om Prakash) is the owner of a house where things are not going well. First of all, he is annoyed by his constantly dissatisfied wife Bhagvanti (Lalita Pavar). They themselves are a childless couple, and therefore the younger brother of Jivindas, with his wife and two sons, lives with them. This is the first cause of constant discontent Bhagvanti. The second reason is Govind (Sunil Dutt), who was paralyzed as a child due to a high-voltage accident. The father Govinda - Shankar Lal (Manmohan Krishna), the younger brother Jivindasa, and the mother Govinda never allow him to feel sick: they love him more than everyone else, just as the younger son ShyamaJivandasa< But the uncle loves his older nephew more than anyone else.
Once they come Navrangi (Pran) and his sister Nilima (Mumtaz). They are the children of Bhagwanti from Singapore. Having settled in the house, they with Bhagvanti try to match the Nilimah for the Shyama who has returned home. All this resembles complete chaos, in which, contrary to expectations, even Govind finds a girl - Radhu (Nutan), who settled after the death of her parents to work in the household. And who saw in Govinda his bright soul and good heart, in spite of his mutilation.
People like this Bhagvanti (Aunt Govinda) is a scandalous, greedy and quarrelsome woman, and her most abominable nephew, Navrangi, cunning, insidious and vile. Here lives a big friendly family, everything is good, everyone is happy, and here will be a worm in this family, a person who is constantly dissatisfied with everything, he insults someone every morning, calls, insults, humiliates, gives some special pleasure. And now this worm begins to undermine the family from the inside, and sharpens, and gnaws, and harasses everyone with its faults, and digs deep into the heart of every member of the family, and now you look at quarrels between relatives, quarrels and distrust. And that makes it so bitter, so hurtful for these people. They would run away from such a worm, or drive him out of the house, but they tolerate him, try to re-educate him, treat him kindly, hoping that he will come to his senses. On the one hand, it can be right, after all, it is also a member of the family, and on the other hand, because of such people, often strong and friendly families collapse.
And so here, not only does Bhagvanti constantly humiliate and insult Govinda, calling him a cripple and insignificance, but also her niece decided to restore his family order. He is nothing at all, the seventh water on the sourdough, but here you go, there. Played on his aunt's weaknesses and brazenly invaded the family. And she became even worse, even more harassing. The younger nephew Shyama loves, and the older one Govinda hates. Her husband turned out to be a weak man, in my opinion, since he tolerated her antics all 30 years of marriage, although he could have reined in time. And now, in general, let her and Navrangi do whatever she pleases, especially after her threat to burn herself alive if she is disturbed.
And the niece only needs that, he did not just come from Singapore to India, with his supposedly modern views, and to take to the hands of the Tetino, or rather uncle's wealth. And his sister is the same as him. And now there are three of them, and after Shiam returned and fell in love with Nilimu, there were four of them. And the family is completely at odds because Shyam went over to his aunt's side against his parents and his older brother. And now the aunt appealed to the council of elders of the village, and now the house was divided into two equal parts, a brick wall was built right in the middle of the house, each plate and each spoon was divided. Even the wedding Shyama and Nilima took place on the side of the aunt and uncle, and the parents were not even invited. But as they say, how much the rope does not twirl - the end will still be. Everyone will get what they deserve.
Pran in the role Navranghi is simply disgusting, not only externally - with hairstyle and mustaches a-la Hitler (hair is combed on one side, but it is smeared with something), with a cigar, which he did not release from his mouth the entire film. A cunning, greedy, mean businessman who will stop at nothing just to fill his pockets with money. He even uses his sister to do this.
Lalita Pavar is disgusting no less. Just a real vampire, ready to kill everyone around him. Mumtaz in the role of Nilima is also not happy. A cheeky, uncouth, unbred girl who, having arrived at the house of people she does not know, begins to put everyone in their place. I'd have kicked her in the face for that if she'd been in my house like that. Shiamu is also with her, so that he does not forget who he is and who his parents are.
The real outlet of the film is Sunil Dutt in the role of Govinda, a kind, sensitive, very well-mannered guy who respects his parents and uncle and aunt in whose house he lives since birth. Sunil Dutt received his second prize Filmfare for his vivid depiction of a disabled hero.
Nutana is beautiful in the role of Radhi, a kind, sweet, decent orphan girl who was taken into the house as a servant. It was she who, with her love for Govind, her sensitive attitude to everyone, her endless patience, was able to establish relations in the family and restore broken ties.
"Family" - this is a quality movie, a very good film "Old Bollywood", with a lot of suffering and tears, with sorrows and joys, with the struggle of good and evil. A film showing the cooperative family system in villages and its advantages and disadvantages. The acting of Sunila Datta and Oma Prakash is delightful, but Nautan overshadows everyone with his grace, cheerfulness and charisma. I love their pair with Sunil since the movie Untouchable. The dialogue is great, the actors are great (everything, even negative), the songs and dances are great, it is impossible to break away from viewing.
