A very beautiful film about a Korean brothel The general plot is quite simple: there are about five women with their own destinies, we are more or less revealed three of them, and two more are mentioned indirectly. They work together in a café brothel.
What can be especially interesting in this film is a very successful interweaving of the fates of the heroines of the film, since we imperceptibly and without special breaks flow from one of them to another, gradually learning about each; in the film there is neither vulgarity nor rudeness, only a systematic presentation of the everyday trifles of the life of a small brothel.
Each of the heroines gets about 1 chance (ticket, lottery), which is played in a completely different way: one gets acquainted with the famous director, the other successfully slept with the only captain of the ship who will survive the next storm (and the girl will receive the title of “happy”, which will increase her clientele and financially support the family), and the like. However, every “chance” remains unrealized, and the film as a whole is very melancholy.
It should also be noted a couple of genius scenes (with the dissolution of Madame in the light, for example), which the film unexpectedly surprises; that is, this film can please the experienced viewer with unusual directorial decisions, albeit infrequently.
