Why was toothless Rabbit created? Swedish writer Stig Larsson is better known as the author of the trilogy about the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (aka Lisbeth Salander). The trilogy filmed several interesting and dynamic thrillers.
Stig Larsson wrote the script for the movie Rabbit, and he directed it himself. Keeping in mind a good impression of the films about Lisbeth Salander, I decided to watch Rabbit.
After watching the film, the opinion of writing was delayed, because I waited for the disdainful feeling that I stepped on a dog bunch to subside in me. It didn't settle. I watched the movie again (and what if I didn’t see the masterpiece?), but the ugly feeling remained.
I went online to search for reviews about this film to compare my impression with others. I didn't find any feedback. Didn't anyone look? Or do others have the same feeling as me, but they just scored on a review, like, fuck, it’s easier to go wash your shoe?
About the plot.
The main character Hans works at school as a physical education teacher. Students do not respect him and call him a rabbit. Hans has a wife, Lollo, a young child, a father named Bengt. Bengt works as a news reporter for one of the channels TV (channel about people who want to see). A number of schoolgirls have been raped in the city. Bengt needs a fresh report, and he turns to the police for information, where he is shown a photo sketch of the rapist, compiled from the words of one of the injured girls.
Bengt recognizes Hans' son in his sketch.
And then the thrust with Hans and his alleged struggle with attraction to another girl are shown. Interestingly, his wife and father, understanding Hans' abnormality, do not condemn him, but regret and sympathize. With tenderness in their eyes, they look at this healthy boogie as he tells them (and the audience) that he is actually white and fluffy, and it is the fault of his ‘hobby’ dad, who gave him little attention as a child.
I was thinking about the film, sincerely trying to understand what it was made for. To condemn pedophilia? To eradicate it? To awaken the consciousness of the public? Hardly.
With this toothless film, vice cannot be eradicated and pedophiles cannot be corrected. The Movie Rabbit does not repent and does not want to repent even for the sake of appearance, because he knows, defenseless prey will be a little looming, and all repentance and promises will instantly evaporate!
I don’t know what motivated Larsson to make this film. I can assume that the reason was either his advanced views, or he faced a similar situation in reality.
The sad thing is that the writer, as a screenwriter and director, did not condemn vice in any way, but simply showed Swedish tolerance and sympathy for Rabbit, who has a clear shift in the psyche.
