No worse than in Hollywood... After Argentina won the title of three-time World Cup champion, I became interested in the different cultural aspects of the country. And it's not just football, Perron, cattle and tango. And of course, cinema. In Argentina, as in many countries, cinema began to develop in the early twentieth century. The scale was not Hollywood, but still! In 1917, the cartoon “Apostle” was released in Argentina, which became the world’s first full-length animated film. In 1931, the first film with sound was released. Two years later, the first sound film was released. Of course, such a film was supposed to be about some national idea or something that would stir the heart of every Argentine. It's tango!
The musical film “Tango” from the first minutes attracts the viewer, thanks to the vocal part of the colorful singer, performing a song just about tango. Then begins dancing in the restaurant, in which the main characters of the picture. The acting is cute and slightly funny, if you look at the eyes of a contemporary at that time. The plot is banal - a love polygon, songs, dances, clarifying relationships, etc., etc. I didn't need more. The filmmakers needed to show how tango introduces the passion of the heroes’ lives and bring this energy to the emotional Latin viewer, so that he himself became part of the general dance.
Also, this film became a benefit of two famous, in Latin American cinema, actresses and singers - Tita Merello and Libertad Lamarque, who became icons of Argentine musical cinema of the 1930-40s.
