The drunken air of freedom. Completely uncouth adventures of two girls-smugglers and their friend-customs, who, taking advantage of his position, also engaged in smuggling. And lives with both girls. Idyll in the bosom of nature, the background of mountains and various absurd events, border crossing, chase, shooting.
This unknown film by an unknown director deserves attention and can be recommended to at least two categories of viewers: those who like films about nonconformists and fans of unusual cinema. Filmed in the rebellious 1968, he absorbed the ideals of hippies and freedom-loving youth. Heroes are a kind of “smugglers of freedom”, for them it is not enrichment that matters at all, but the opportunity to “live your life”. The director deliberately ignores many of the laws of cinema, and nature becomes a full-fledged character of the picture. Beautiful mountain scenery would look more spectacular if the ribbon was colored. The black and white shooting was probably due to financial considerations.
Half a century after the release of the film and the famous events of 1968, we can say with bitterness: freedom is still nowhere. It exists only in virtual space (imagination or cinema). That’s the aftertaste of the film can be compared to how if your little, innermost dream came true and you for a moment felt real. What happened? Nothing. You just breathed in the heady air of freedom.
