How to steal 600 million francs? It's a beautiful movie. Great music. The acting work of Bourville and Paul Merissa is just wonderful.
Meriss created an inimitable image of a gangster-intellectual. Who speaks emphatically about Apollinaire and Hemingway... Who is bored with the usual crimes like bank robbery and is looking for something hot. He's ironic and insightful. He has a great sense of humor.
"What do you think," he addresses his personal driver. “Despite traffic lights and traffic, can the Cadillac get away from the bike?”
“Doubtful, monsieur, but I will try...” – shrugs the driver, in the role of which the very young and not very recognizable Pierre Richard starred.
Angelica is Miss Metro and part-time ticket controller at the Paris metro station Qué de la Rapé. This role was performed by 26-year-old blonde Françoise Deldique. “Big box office” became her 13th role in the movie and brought the actress fame and wild popularity, especially in Paris.
And finally, the main character is Bourdain (Bourville). A modest and seemingly unremarkable employee of the Paris metro. But one day everyone will learn that he is also the author of a crime novel, telling about the sensational robbery of a train with 600 million francs.
The director of the film Alex Joffe showed incredible ingenuity, putting on the principle of absurdity scene execution of the fined controller. The unfortunate “sentenced” right on the platform of the station Qué de la Rapé.
In general, the “big cash” should be watched. And you have to have fun. It’s a shame we all saw this movie so late.
P.S. The film is not perceived as having been created in 1965. The impression is that it was filmed a little earlier. For example, in 1960 or 1961. This can be seen on the streets of Paris, and about the actors. And even on black and white film. Although, maybe the director Joffet deliberately “aged” his film and it was one of his cunning cinematic techniques?
