There is only one man on earth, and that is God. Here is another rare film Mithuna Chakraborty watched yesterday. Now he is in the voice, by the way, another huge thank you to Alexander Lyskov, who voiced the film by subtitles for all fans of Mithun and for all those who do not like watching movies with subtitles (such as me). Well, I can’t watch with subtitles (only watch with them in the rarest cases) while you read the subtitles at the bottom of the screen, miss what’s happening on the screen, and often miss a lot of important things. Such enthusiastic people do everything possible so that viewers can safely watch their favorite movie (I also want to join a group of such people and voice the film in Russian subtitles, but they do not take me there yet, and preparation is necessary). But I was distracted from the main thing. I'm going straight to the movie.
The film "The Last Slave" was released in 1989, but it is little known to the Russian audience, and even fans of Mithun Chakraborty know little about it. This film is very similar to another famous hit Mithun - "We are five", a lot of things echo in these two films. And even the name of the main character of the film (Mithun) is the same - Bhima, and that he is a devotee like a dog, a servant of the evil Thakura.
Bhima belongs to the dynasty of servants who have served their masters for several generations and fulfill all the whims of Thakura Daulat Singh's relatives. The father of Bhima brought up his son in the best traditions of the staff, which would allow him to continue to occupy a dignified position in a respected house. I was struck by the dignity with which the father told his little son that their master was their God, and the main purpose of their life, to serve the master and his family, that it was their fate, that for many decades their family lived this way, and it is necessary to continue to live this way - this is their destiny, and no one can change anything. And the boy for many years believes the words of his father, and faithfully serves the master, fulfilling all his orders, and suffering beatings and abuse from his master. And it's ingrained in people's minds that they are slaves and will always remain slaves, and no one can change anything, and it's not even worth trying. Although everything in the world has long changed, and there are no more masters and their slaves, all people have equal rights in life. But in the minds of these people, everything remains the same, they know no other life, and know nothing but to serve their master, and their children are taught the same. It's really scary.
But also from early childhood Bhima is friends with the little Sonam, the daughter of thakura. This, of course, does not like her father, and he sends his daughter to study in London, away from his home, and from Bhima. However, years later, Sonam returned to India, not forgetting about her childhood love, which only grew stronger with each year she was away from her homeland. That's just her chosen one is under investigation, because he is accused of murdering a trade unionist Kumar

"The Last Slave" - at first glance, an ordinary action film of the eighties, directed by Shibu Mitra. Anupam Kher in the role of the powerful Zamindar (landowner), disgustingly disgusting, and at the same time amazing. Anupam Kheru Such roles have always gone, he is unique in them. His character believes that people working for him should be treated as his slaves. But one day Bhima, fleeing from the evil bandits of the master, finds himself in the house of one swami (priest), and thanks to him, understands that Almighty God is above all, and all people on earth serve only Him, the Most High, that no one can have another master in life but God. This realization allows Bhima to start a struggle against his former master and to confront him.
The main advantage of this film is Mithun, Mithun, and only Mithun. His haunted look, his lowered "down" eyes, his admiration for the owner look impressive. Sometimes it seemed that Mithun was in fact the servant of his master, so faithfully he showed his character. But the reborn Bhima, who became a fighter for the rights of the poor and for justice, is no less striking (although the role is common for Mithun in those years). Although there is something to be surprised about, this is the same Mithun, and this is all said. He is able to show any character with 100% authenticity, so that you do not come off
.
Sonam as always beautiful, looks very sexy. Their pair with Mithun is amazing, especially impressive all their joint clips, and the scene of the meeting after many years of separation, here I just could not help crying, so touching it was shown.
The rest of the actors were no less impressive - Anupam Kher in the role of the evil thakura, Raj Babbar in the role of the trade union leader of the workers - Kumara, Maushmi Chatterjee in the role of his wife, (young, beautiful, very natural, she really liked me in this role), Shakti Kapur Bhanvarilalla, this narrator, thanks to the role of his daughter, who even dreamed of his own daughter (b>). Each actor has contributed significantly to the success of this film.
I really liked the music and songs of Bappi Lahiri, and especially the song "Maalik Mere Honton Pe Sabke", which helped transform Bhima. I liked all the songs in the film. And the clips and dancing numbers of Mithun, as always at the highest level, and Mithun as always magnificent, and his white pants as always remained snow-white, so as not to happen in the frame.
An interesting story turned out, exciting despite all its apparent simplicity and predictability. I advise you to watch all fans of Mithun (especially since now the film with voiceover), and fans of Indian cinema 80-ies of the last century. There will be experiences, and love, and real friendship, and confrontation, and struggle. In general, all the attributes of a good Indian action film.
