Jumping in the water Warm days, the sun shines brightly in the sky, and children jump from a low pier into the water.
Continuing to record various moments from life on film, Louis Lumiere finds himself with his camera on the beach and decides to capture the sea, where the children happily swim. Therefore, the title of this film, although it consists of only one word, exhaustively describes its plot.
Probably, it is impossible to count how many times since the release of this short film, the sea has appeared on large and small screens, in documentary or feature films. Often it serves simply as the background of unfolding events of different genres, and sometimes it itself becomes the main character, for example, as in the amazing drama “Reaching out to heaven”. The sea is used as a metaphor, conveying the mood of events, or even can make a raging element that can destroy many lives. Here Louis Lumiere simply watched through the lens of the camera how the sea gives joy to children who decided to have fun, swimming in its warm waters.
This short film has an average rating, because the modern viewer can hardly be surprised by such a simple, uncomplicated film, whose duration does not reach even one minute. But even those 40 seconds that survive a century later are a miracle for those who want to know where it all started.
And the sea is still magical on the screen even in black and white and without the sound of splashing waves.
