The director-writer of the film is a representative of a special independent cinema, which is created by enthusiastic friends almost without any funds in their spare time. The scene is often their homes, garages, backyards and other private property. Much is done lightly, with humor, to have fun and amuse the viewer. However, this time the author went a different way, trying to make a very serious thriller, and he did it well. Minimum financial resources with the lack of professional skills, lighting fixtures and an expensive camera benefit the story, whose plot is successfully written out in such a way as to get as close as possible to a domestic thriller. Everything seems to be happening somewhere in the neighborhood, right across the street, causing the audience to respond and engage in the events shown.
The film tells about a nanny for pets, who settles in the house where the dog is located. Her owners had to fly away and look after their fluffy beauty. The action-packed genre element is successfully played in its realism, building a lot only on the suspense of the situation when the viewer, along with the heroine, enters the simplest American house of a quiet sleeping area, forced to find themselves in an atmosphere of uncomfortable loneliness. A sense of danger is developed due to various small nuances that make you treat a lot of alertness, waiting for some terrible trick or fatal secret. At first, the luggage left by the owners is alarming, as if they did not leave anywhere, but simply disappeared, after their note warning them not to let the dog out of the house at night, even on TV they report a bear wandering from the forest to the local lands, and then we gradually delve into the psychological thriller. The fact is that the nanny is hiding from her ex, who is a typical domestic despot with sadistic inclinations. Female anxiety is clearly conveyed to the viewer through shudders from phone calls, wary glances at the windows, a completely alien place of residence, where everything is not yours, unusual, but outside only strangers. Camera enclosed space and prosaic surroundings with the expectation of something bad work perfectly on the screen. Even the title, which can be translated “Wild” or “Wild”, adds points to the scenario intrigue, when the definition of the title can fit any participant of events, including people and animals. Studying the eyes of the dog, her endless requests to walk outside at night, empty rooms with dimmed lights, cloudy space behind large windows, from which they can predatoryly watch, television news blocks about the bear, and the lonely woman herself without a defender, who fears that the former boyfriend will not limit herself to threatening messages on her mobile, will get her address, find her, will enter the house, again begin to mock - all this is very intriguing, making you worry about the heroine much more than the grotesque monsters or maniacs with huge dazzy hooks.
For such a plot, resembling almost a single performance, the right choice for the main role is important. She was invited to the only one recognizable in the production of Debbie Rochon. The actress has always been distinguished by the fact that she easily coped with the role of the “Queen of Scream” – cheerfully screamed and casually undressed, and also acted perfectly in the field of humor in cheerful horror stories and drama in thrillers. For an action film category B, where there are amateurs around, barely restraining laughs in dialogue, Debbie only delights, coping with the task, so the screen story is intriguingly interesting from a mysterious beginning to an unexpected denouement. You feel empathetic and involved in the situation. Not every time you manage to meet a sensible serious thriller, staged almost on bare enthusiasm, where even the dog is performed not by a specially trained dog, but by the real favorite of the director, which he carefully brought into the credits of the place with people. Fascinating story, Debbie in the lead role the whole timekeeping in an interesting film, a rare genre film in the collection - I am satisfied, and for you I conducted an acquaintance with the picture.
