Holly + Mac = Positive. Immediately I want to note that the drama, although present here as a genre, the series is still a comedy detective. West Waikiki is an easy, funny and informative series. If you missed the series of the nineties, and do not know what to watch, then here is a good option for you.
The series has its own style and atmosphere. You just started watching the series, and you are already immersed in it. The suburb of Honolulu is unusually beautiful, you will not get bored of this background. The creators of the series managed to combine the bright with the gloomy, and a positive tone disposes to view.
"One West Waikiki" will not be bored, the series is not stretched. By the way, there are not so many episodes - 7 in the first season and 13 in the second. 20 forty-minute episodes fly unnoticed, even a little pity. The writers did a good job, there are memorable episodes and characters. The only spoonful of tar in a barrel of honey was episode 11 in the second season (without spoilers).
The cast is good, the main duet in the person of Cheryl Ladd (“Charlie’s Angels”, “Millennium”, “Poison Ivy”) and Richard Burgey (“The Watch”, “Desperate Housewives”, “Star Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation”) is just a godsend. In the second roles, too, everything is smooth. Kayla Blake, Augie Suluetta, Paul Gleason and Rebecca Staab are not inferior to the main pair, and Julia Nixon-Sole (Rambo: First Blood 2, Around the World in 80 Days, Double Dragon, Amityville 7: The New Generation) noted very well in the series. In addition, as guest artists we have Pat Morita, Robert Forster, Mark Dacascos, Denise Richards and Kelly Hu.
A separate mention deserves the screensaver of the series. She's very strange. Or rather atypical for this kind of series, but as it turned out, it sounds very much to the place. The soundtrack is for an amateur (both intro and auto), but it seemed appropriate to me and again disposing to view the series.
West Waikiki is a series from the past. Not the best and certainly not the masterpiece. But what cannot be taken away from him is his personality and the spirit of the times. If you like the Nineties, don’t miss it. Have a good time!
