For them, he remained a king. August 16, 1977 Suddenly died one of the most famous singers of the XX century, received during his lifetime the title of "King of Rock and Roll" - Elvis Presley
For decades, it has been a mystery to many what happened that fateful morning on August 16, and whether it was possible to save the 42-year-old, drug-dependent idol of millions. These questions tried to answer those who were directly related to the singer – members of the so-called “Memphis mafia”, consisting of friends, family and friends of Presley. But the documentary "Elvis: The Last 24 Hours" is dedicated not only to the death of the King, but also to his life in the 1970s.
Agree that what Elvis was in life, could know well only his family and friends. Although many fans noticed that their idol in recent years was not in the best shape: the fat, wearing glasses due to glaucoma Elvis in the mid-1970s was not as popular as it once was. But what a defenseless, sensitive and lonely man at the price he was, tried to convey to the viewer personal hairdresser Elvis Larry Geller, bodyguard Sonny West, security chief Lamar Fike and other people of the King.
Yes, only for those who are seriously interested in the biography and work of Presley, this film will be useful. For those who have only a small idea of the “King of Rock and Roll”, it will be much more useful to get acquainted with other documentaries, bypassing this one. Probably, the idea to show not the most pleasant period of Elvis’ life, in its own way and interesting and unpleasant (about the dead, after all, as they say, either good or nothing). But even such a film as the memories of that Elvis, as he knew only friends, still fell to my liking. It is their love for a friend whom they could not save. So the film was very moving and emotionally strong.
