Beautiful movie on the big screen. But this repetition of the first part is almost in detail, so Cameron did not make a revolution. The plot and the script are weak, why do you only bet on the visual picture, I don’t understand, because for the level For a director like Cameron, this is an average job. Technically speaking, the rest is high. It's too mediocre. I recommend watching on the big screen, the movie is worth it. Review written: February 4, 2023, Olya Grinevskaya (Alenushka).
I decided to watch the second part. I can say I didn’t get anything from watching this part. The first part was completely logically completed, which cannot be said about the second and, apparently, will not be expected from the third part.
And here lies the biggest disappointment, because the release of the third part is expected in December 2025! And the fourth is expected a few years after it.
I don't know what Cameron's thinking. If this is a way to stimulate interest in the project, it is very wrong. On the contrary, the project loses viewership with each year of waiting.
At first, Cameron said he was shooting all three, which is why it takes so long. And you could expect all the remaining parts to come out one by one. It's been 13 years!
Now he has been hampered by strikes that began more than 10 years after the release of the first part. The script has not worked for 10 years. But it seemed that Cameron knew what to shoot 13 years ago.
The whole story is far-fetched. Why chase an ex-soldier when he didn't get in the way of anything other than occasionally stealing weapons? He did not attack the colony, he did not lead any resistance movement against the earthlings. The natives did not know what the earthlings were doing in the new colony. Neither the forest nor the sea natives.
In general, by the time of the release of the last part, Cameron risks complete oblivion and loss of interest in the project from the audience. It feels good to be immortal if it stretches production for decades. He must have been given a magical substance from Pandora that stops aging.
After 13 long years, we still waited for the continuation of the highest-grossing film in history. But the question is, was it necessary?
About the plot:
In this regard, the sequel has not undergone much change compared to the first part. The same evil people are trying to seize resources, but now there are fewer people in their natural form. The main characters of the previous part, with the exception of the main villain, faded into the background, and their children came to the first, the tricks of which cover 2/3 of the timekeeping. But, I confess, I expected something similar, because I initially understood that the plot here exists only for the sake of formality. It is only needed in order to promote the other, the main side of this film-visual.
To say that the picture of the film is amazing is to say nothing. Cameron can shoot beautifully. All this underwater world and its inhabitants, updated Avatars, which look even more alive.
But I guess that's where the pros end. Perhaps you can even bear for yourself a certain morality: saving the environment, the importance of the family, etc. But this is the same formality as the plot.
To the question above, I will answer: it is still worth it, but only in excellent quality, to feel the whole world of Pandora, the action in the film, which is not bad.
Perhaps the sequel is not as epochal in terms of visual innovations as the first part, but it deserves attention, since the efforts of the creators are more than visible.
Indeed, a lot of water has leaked from the rental of the first part of Cameron’s Avatar – 12 years. A whole generation of moviegoers has changed. Graphene is pretty much a step forward considering we’ve gone from PS3 to PS5. Did Zhenya surprise us this time? Did you really need this sequel? What are your thoughts on at least three more franchises?
To begin with, I don’t consider myself a fan of the original Avatar. I watched it when I was still an eleventh grader. Since then, there has been no revision, and no wish. I always thought it was just a movie benchmark, a great 3D rental boost, and the highest grossing movie in history. This movie shows the real demand in the market. And this is not particularly pleasing at the present time, although I would not have said so earlier. Yes, this is an author’s film that reveals themes of imperialism, environmental protection, freely retells American history, along the way directly apologizing to the indigenous people for the mistakes of their ancestors, and this is just a popcorn movie. Few people will deny that this canvas was created for the entertainment of the viewer, so that you can plunge him into another world, into the world of Pandora for three hours. So we can look at Jack Sally's world through his eyes, sitting in a movie theater chair, as he sits in a wheelchair, judging by the plot. He enters a new world for himself, and we get there with the help of 3D glasses and a large screen, preferably IMAX. Cameron's good at that. He feels the rhythm well in his works. He can tell stories the way he wants to. Yes, he doesn’t need to make art house movies to talk about fate, freedom of choice, destiny, feminism and me2, the Greenpeace movement, life and its meaning. In this respect, it is very similar to Spielberg: a mass understandable movie with many metaphors and allegories in the core. One thing is for sure: James did not make an overtly bad and passing movie. I like everything, but for the most part I prefer the first Terminator due to the noir atmosphere and genre.
The sequel to 'Avatar' is not to say a filler or an empty movie. Not at all. This is a very beautiful and technological film, shot in 60 FPS, and at least this fact is a reason to watch it. If you haven’t seen ‘Gemini’ or ‘The Hobbit’ before, which was also shot in HFR, then this will be the know-how for you, because the movie looks as smooth as any modern video game. Finally, this technique seemed appropriate to me (there was a lack of 60 FPS in Mendes’ 1917, which clearly gave the viewer a visual video game experience, but at the same time in 24 frames). If the original is about protecting the forest, then the sequel is an epic about protecting the water space of the Earth. Yes, Cameron is again going through the underwater shooting, in every possible way quotes "Titanic" up to a similar soundtrack to Celine Dion. Auto-citations at the level of mise-en-scene are also present. What awaits us in the triquel of biomes? Desert? Meadow? Tundra? Just five parts of the franchise - five biomes of the planet.
The guiding idea remained unchanged: the masculinity and purpose of the father in the family, the protection of both the family hearth and the “home” in general, the traditional conservative values of American society against representative Republican ones, and most importantly, violence breeds even more violence. “Avatar 2” is essentially an extreme anti-war work that directly tells us to stop the carnage around the globe, breathe out, slow down our pulse, learn Zen and live in harmony with ourselves.
Acting work is difficult to assess – all the same motion capchur, which simply began to look even cooler, and nothing more. Yes, in part we can say that this is a cartoon with interspersed live actors, which can be counted on the fingers. A technical masterpiece that deservedly won an Oscar for best visual effects. The movie looks great and sounds great.
Avatar: The Way of Water is a three-hour adventure, or rather its continuation. A rooftop feast for the eyes and ears, requiring as much screen as possible and the best sound system to view. An adventure that captivates and doesn’t lose you as a spectator, even though it takes three hours. This is a technically cool movie. But in terms of semantic load, this is a self-repeat from and to. You won’t see anything new in the sequel. There is no development of characters in relation to the original, which even hints at stagnation and the idea that nothing has changed in 12 years. I can’t say that the stakes were raised compared to the first part. Everything remained at the same level. It’s like watching a series that’s been going on for the second decade. And I'll have to watch another dozen. Except if there's nothing waiting for me to expand the lora, it's going to be a fiasco. But brushing aside all subjectivity, we can say that James Cameron again removed the attraction, which is at least not boring to watch. And 60 FPS is a good thing.
7 out of 10
I'm scoring for the ending and Cameron's promise that the next part won't be about Jake anymore.
Okay, let's say it was logical to assume that with the kids, Jake would sooner or later cease to be the lead character of the story, which is how we looked at the first two movies. But I probably expected him to be left for at least three movies, maybe even four. I’m not sure what happened to Cameron’s decision. With the fact that the second part they shot for almost ten years and during this time Sam Warington, playing Jake, thoroughly aged, which is very noticeable in the film? However, computer graphics, especially modern, this issue with wrinkles can easily be solved. In the second part, Jake has two adult sons and a daughter. The oldest, Neteyam, is fifteen and it's obvious that even Navi are getting old and dying. But, alas, fans of Jake from the first part must be prepared for the fact that in the sequel to that Jake they will not get. In "Water's Way," he became Jake's dad with a tummy. Charm, of course, a certain preserved, but in the second part of Jake for the sympathy of the audience has to fight with his own sons and the leader of the aquatic tribe. And with a couple of other Navi, whose names we will omit, so as not to spoil the plot twists and turns.
I want to mark the chart. According to Cameron, Avatar 2 took so long to shoot because it waited for the graphics to create realistic water. Well, 10 years of waiting for a certain thing was worth it. The wibes of the second part, of course, are very different from the wibes of the first. It's not a forest, it's an ocean. The mood is very different, but the spirit of Pandora, her beauty, is still there. And it leaves the viewer wondering how many tribes and parts of the planet are there that haven't been shown to us yet. To be honest, I don’t think Cameron’s work is disappointing. I don’t want to think ahead and make predictions, after all, there are still three films ahead and I really want to hope that the quality for the last sequel will not deteriorate, but I stick to my hopes of a warm neutralist. At least "Water's Way" was definitely a worthy sequel.
I don’t know if it’s possible to mention the acting, given that this is computer graphics, but the facial expressions with which the faces of Avatars and Navi were created at the height of the cast. And this film, of course, gave us new young actors, watching which will be interesting for me personally. And I really hope that on Avatar their acting career will not end, yet the potential for many is very promising. I’ll be looking forward to the third part and the rest of it, and hopefully Jake and Neytiri, even though the focus will shift over time to their kids, will make it to the final credits.
Watched the movie. The technical pros and cons of the film from the viewer’s point of view are described in detail in other reviews, I see no point in repeating them. But I want to add something.
Reviews of "Avatar 2" omit one important detail - the figure of Cameron himself. Cameron is old enough. And he, as an old man, is characterized by some characteristic features, which, oddly enough, were traced already in the first avatar and significantly strengthened in the second. What do I mean? First of all, the question is, how does an old man see this world in most cases? Youth, strength, audacity, sharpness, sharp and bold thoughts, thirst for struggle, all this has passed, flowed through your fingers like sand, and what remained in return? Wisdom, weak vitality of the aging body, the desire to reconcile everyone, smooth out conflicts, sentimentality, kindness, faith in family and children, craving for a quiet life. And the avatars, they mean that. That old Cameron wants people (of Western civilization) to think about their own colonialism, about reasonable consumption, about the conventional "new god" (hello, new age), about other people who surround them. To think about the fact that love is just there, and it doesn't matter whether you're from a tribe of forests or a water tribe. To see the 'other', non-Western man. Some people will say it’s a hackneyed message, and I’ll say that if it were a hackneyed message, movies wouldn’t have such astronomical box office. So people on the planet Earth have a request. We will all live this life, and those who read this text are probably at different stages of their lives, with different values and meanings. It's normal. See the other. It doesn’t have to match what social institutions, media, capitalism and so on put into you. See this movie as an old man who wants the world to be a little better. Cameron is not perfect for his testosterone penance, but nobody is perfect. The old man was branded a man-hater, and he simply repented for his past, perhaps unsuccessfully choosing words, did not get on the agenda in the audience of the lower Internet, so to speak. There are no absolute truths, no meanings, and when you decide to criticize avatars for a message, ask yourself, what movies do you like? Are their meanings better?
The second part of Avatar was somewhat disappointing. If you saw the first one, stop there. Do not spoil your impression, it is better to review it again and calm down. Actually, the first film was a kindergarten pants on straps, but it was at least original and new. At least for 2009. But after 13 years of filming the same bum and counting on recognition just because you're James Cameron, it's audacity. The film is of course colorful and its Oscar for special effects, of course, received, who would doubt, but the plot repeats as if you are watching a remake of the first part.
Why did you have to resurrect an old villain? He was more dead than the dead, and we all buried him safely. He did a lot of bad things in the first movie, and he will. Is it true that for thirteen years there was not enough imagination to come up with a new bad guy who dreams of messing with blue tailed aborigines? Be sure they had to pull out of the grave the corpse of the restless colonel, ready with the stubbornness of an idiot again and again to hunt the main character, who in the first part in an accessible form explained to him not to lean on the planet.
Perhaps the only thing worth watching is a crowd of half-naked girls. They are blue and green, but they walk around the clock and swim in loincloths. A kind of three-hour erotic for primary school age.
There is no new/unexpected story here, and it is not needed!
Avatar: The Way of Water is primarily a family film.
Here the theme of the relationship between parents and children is touched upon, each character reveals this in its own way. It is also about relations between different peoples and cultures.
The main theme of the film is kindness and care for loved ones. An instructive story for family viewing, for both the younger generation and the adult.
The moral of the film is to love your family, your loved ones, respect other nationalities, love nature and animals.
Special effects:
Many years of waiting are justified, the picture has become even more vivid and beautiful. Amazingly worked out both living creatures and nature. And the deep sea world is just amazing! After watching, I wanted to visit the islands of Polynesia, from where the filmmakers apparently drew inspiration!

The film looks in one breath and will be reviewed by me more than once!
The first Avatar, although largely secondary in terms of plot, still represented a whole story. The story, where there was the main character, who throughout the story changed, adopting the culture of alien aborigines, eventually changing his personality, moral guidelines and to the very end of the body. But here comes The Way of Water, one of many future sequels, and what does it show? That's right, nothing.
Essentially, in three hours, the sequel Avatar presents one central conflict, and that one is completely copied from the first film. This is again a confrontation of the same heroes who did not develop one iota. However, the problem is not even that, but that this confrontation takes the last half an hour. What awaits two and a half before that? A very entertaining issue of National Geographic, which will introduce from and to the culture and way of life of the new tribe of blueskins - the people of water. All was well until the people of fire... Oh, wait, this is from another series.
Anyway, The Way of Water is incredibly tedious from a narrative point of view, because it tells essentially nothing. It is impossible to even name a single main character, because the accents of the story are constantly jumping. Yes, from the point of view of building a franchise, this is probably competent - the viewer is literally immersed in the most insignificant aspects of the life of the Na'Vi tribes, trying to reveal several characters at once. But when I saw The Way of Water, I realized that the movie reminded me. Video game.
A linear adventure that is artificially stretched with a ton of additional monotonous and uninteresting content and lore, which may not be interesting for everyone. Seriously, if you cut the lion’s share of timekeeping from the tape, the film from the point of view of the central storyline will lose literally nothing.
Key characters, Jake and Neytiri, a significant part of the narrative is simply pushed back into the background, and therefore their characters do not change. And all the other heroes, who are diligently rolled out to the foreground, do not represent anything in particular. I mean, nothing at all. Their problems, their conflicts are literally the conflicts of any teenage character from any other movie. There is nothing “alien” in the heroes in fact and there is nothing, and it turns out that there is nothing behind a beautiful wrapper.
“The Way of Water” is still a decent-looking picture, which is pleasant to admire. But beyond that, there's nothing in the movie that you can cling to. Self-repeats and water - not only on the screen, but also in the script. I'm disappointed.
An epic continuation of the epic film, which ... well, I don’t know how long it is, but for 10+ years in development clearly does not pull.
Technically.
Perhaps the problem is that we have something like that disc with the inscription “Gothic 2” in Russia in the early zero years. They will buy, waiting to see the continuation of the cult masterpiece.
Perhaps wine is excessive parliamentary pressure on the part of the UWS, because we all know that the West has long used cinema as “advertising directly to the brain.” Of course, it is good for the West.
And here the influence is clearly visible:
1. Technically, the spectacle is down. What previously caused the "wow" effect is shown freshly and casually.
2. Narrative, if you break down by episodes and make up, as in school, a “plan” of the narrative, we will see literally copying by timing: when to insert villains, when landscapes, when there is someone learning something. . or . Why? Why?
3. If in the previous film, plus or minus, all the actions of the protagonist are justified (infiltration into another commune, dependence on a full life, moral torment), then ... why do we learn to ride dolphins? Purely technically, no one prevents you from shooting everything that swims, diving on pterodactels.
4. So who is the central character and why? There are many of them, but all are shown, in fact, briefly.
5. Characters are static. They change, well, except conventionally and out of sight of the viewer. Yes, there are progresses and regressions of certain issues, but...hey. This is Cameron's movie, not Jar Jar Abrams with heaps of wall on wall.
From a technical point of view, the result is simply terrible. Why is the review positive?
Paradoxically, Cameron managed to drag his ideas again, mimicking under the "subpoenas".
Here is the protagonist, who vividly demonstrates how his life under a grass skirt turns literally into a litter.
Seriously.
I would understand if it was a local mumba lumba who didn't expect a 'surprise return' ... but pal. You have a kind of family... you have an understanding that there will be and have duties higher than the rest. Not a year or two.
That’s the result when the back strains are not a motivator to be stronger.
On the other hand, we are faced with the question of counter-motivations, when the antagonist, albeit behind the scenes, passes the road of “initiation” and . . . . . . . groans all his fascist bedokurts, with whom he again covers himself with children as a human shield – oh, these semprefiche supersoldats. Such courage, such piety.
And, it seems, I want to scold from the heart that technically his transformation is not shown in any way, that he “Way” passes as if by inertia, that his character does not change ... but this is what remains behind the scenes. In the frame, the result. Even the little ones begin to recognize their old man. Here we have an unexpected setback for future torments on the topic of "I'm right" and the change of side ... well. Do you have three upcoming premieres?
It would seem that in general we have a certain environmental agenda, but ... no. In fact, the gut of the film consists of a call to what is forgotten in our day - mentoring, listening, the desire to teach.
The core of the tragedy lies in the fact that past generations, shown here in cartoons, literally do not see their children grow up completely incapable. And the question is: if you put the bolt down so hard for today. Are you sure tomorrow will come? Are you sure where to run next time from problems you wanted to ignore? Are there people who will take your torch?
In the case of the “rogue protagonist”, a battered “whale” (a model of which, in part, was copied from land “rhinoceroses”) comes into play, and he also handles the situation. But. You won't have a whale like that. I guarantee it.
In other cases, unfortunately, 60% of the movie is copying and editing fragments from the original film.
And everything would be bad if it were not for the author’s appeal that in the pursuit of imaginary immortality you will kill those who give you the whole Eternity instead of immortality. . .
In general: cinema, alas, difficult.
Technically weak.
But for viewing - a must-see plan, which, despite the pressure, Cameron still managed to lay.
My respects.
In my opinion, director James Cameron was completely disappointed with Avatar. The way of water. However, expectations before watching this film are high, because the first part of “Avatar” was a real masterpiece. However, the second part of the series was overly exaggerated and confusing.
One of the main mistakes of the director was a strong deviation from the history of the first part. Instead of developing the plot and continuing the story on the way to restoring the planet, we got porridge from various plot lines that not only spoiled the overall impression of the film, but also distracted from the main topic.
The image is inconclusive.
It is also worth noting that the second part of the series suffers from bad acting. The characters look artificial and unconvincing, which reduces the degree of involvement of the viewer in the development of the plot. The lack of chemistry between the characters makes their interaction flat and unattractive.
Finally, there is too much focus in the film on meaningless action scenes that, while spectacular, have no connection to the main story. This only adds to the already confusing plot and takes away the time that could have been used to develop the characters and their relationships.
Overall, Avatar: The Way of Water is a disappointment and deserves a bad review. The director and cast failed to reach the highest level set by the first installment, and the film proved inconsistent and confusing. I recommend staying with the first part of Avatar and not spending time and money watching the second part.
The film was presented as something, something, advertising, and the image of the film naturally sets the bar!!
1 Avatar is a really fresh quality movie, a little fabulous story wrapped in a delicious candy!!!
Avatar 2 is not something new and interesting, it is more advertising and beautiful. The characters are weak, not modified, the reasons for what is happening do not reveal the essence. Someone is running somewhere, and this is not a confrontation between people and navi, this endless running is sometimes stupid and extremely illogical.
- Graphics 10 out of 10.
- Plot 3 of 10
Characters 5 out of 10, and in general half specifically in this part is clearly superfluous.
A film about how to beautifully show swimming for 2 hours against the background of graphic Thailand. The confrontation is unsolved and seems silly. If I had done the same thing at 2 o'clock, I don't think it would have been worse. You can’t see it, but you can expect the “Wow” effect.
Before watching I wanted to refresh the memory, but in the end I looked without refreshment, and I did not remember any moments, but what is most interesting, after I watched Avatar 1 and still did not understand where some of the characters came from.
This time it was not possible to go to the cinema, but even watching it on my 4k monitor, I was amazed by the level of graphics, again, as promised by Cameron, worked on the water side of the issue, everything looks very beautiful, believable (it is true that a person at the bottom or navi, can still live without air for 5 minutes, this of course struck me).
About the plot (I didn’t understand the moment, how do people have another base on the planet?) She wasn't touched then? Looks like that one. And it's like the right sequel, more of what you need: Navi, water, family.
3 hours, passed unnoticed, and it seems that nothing really happened, if you think about it, at the end of the battle, which did not go according to the plan of the villains. So many questions, we are waiting for 3 avatars, fortunately this time to wait not 13 years, but 2g.
The first ten minutes make it clear what is going on here and what will happen in the next three hours! Well, we're not used to it.
Immediately striking scale of the world, its grandeur, the power of the jungle and nature, the first that catches the eye and will be thrown throughout the film. The visual component hits hard, this we have not seen yet. Sound accompaniment - Ovation! Especially in times of tension! You can’t go back to these questions.
Let’s talk about the story and the story.
The life of the tribe, family ties, joy, smiles, all this can suddenly turn upside down, and of course it will, and it will, of course, be associated with people. They're back. Demonic (human) bacchanalia and ... further ... technology, talk, who is who, there is a full-fledged war, all mobilized.
This happens several times during the film. Good is replaced by evil, then the end. It's brief.
More details:
At the beginning of the film, the role of the Navi man is strongly noted.
You can forget about him, the kid will behave strangely throughout the film. Why is this happening to him?
Emerging in the beginning, several storylines, be it the “back-up group”, the lines of children and parents abandoned, and not only, they will follow a parallel to the main plot coups, as an impulse.
We are shown the difficulties of survival, the deadly difficulties that all the heroes of the story have to face. Bang! the coup, and several potentially possible plot plotting, are linked in two. Two families!
Why is that so harsh again? Whew
A new tribe.
Love at first sight and a new storyline?
- Nope.
Reunification with marine nature?
- That's right.
The underwater world has reached a new level! Crazy beauty.
Moments with fish of any size excite the blood. Forms, volumes, everything strikes through. It is nice to see the interaction of children of different tribes, as some learn the world of others!
Here begin to trace several small plot twists in each of the children. And at about this point, maybe because only half of the film has passed, and there are still 1.5 hours ahead, and you are already filled with all these design effects, thoughts of inconsistencies creep into your head. Why aren’t the children at home in the hour of the eclipse, why is everyone silent about the spirit tree? Is it just a smile talking to fish, or is it John Travolta’s reaction? This Crazy-Daisy Hunter Colonel, what does he do?
A separate hero in the film is a whale, whales, their emigration, a rogue whale, hunting them, their plot moves and arches. It’s like a single character who, I’ll tell you, has a lot more spiritual diversity than many other characters, it’s the whales that have been revealed the best. But there's bang! A resource worth billions, again, what? Why after half the movie? Why didn't you ever mention it again? Is it important to say something immediately or is it important to people? Did they give you a reason for hunting? John Travolta again.
It's all about the kids. They're in trouble - they're being saved. Brother for brother, sister for sister, mother father, everything is in place! As always, children save their parents.
Bah! a coup, finally, so to speak, well, we expected, right? We are used to thinking of one person!
The final sea battle is something! The Titanic is traceable?!
Throughout the film, the editor’s work is perfect, there are no quick cuts, let you enjoy every shot.
All the delights of the jungle world, robo-termites, exoskeletons, all this is so competently woven by the editor (not without the help of the director, of course) that it is almost impossible to get bored or think about something of your own.
But that kid, remember? Not only we, but all the characters of the film forgot about it, nobody needed and remained somewhere under water.
One of the dumbest moves on the next part. Circumcision of possible ends for subsequent gluing with the 3rd part.
8 out of 10
The underwater beauty and quality of the picture give a huge head start to the rest of the film!
"Avatar: The Way of Water" - Careful! We could drown.
Some years have passed since the famous events. The main character got a family and became a typical movie-batey. He's doing fine. The bad capitalists were driven from Pandora. Peace has come. However, the capitalists returned and began to build neighborhoods, fives and stalls with shawarma. The local bruises didn't like it, so we have to fight again. Unfortunately, humanity registered the main character in the IA, which prompted him to abandon his tribe and go abroad to some Polynesians. Now the family of the protagonist needs to adapt to the new environment, while the evil villain from the previous part will look for them.
Avatar looked, looks and will look great. This is by far the strongest part of the series. Very beautiful! The plot is inversely proportional to the visual. The first film was a remake of the animated film Pocahontas: a stranger is imbued with an unknown culture and becomes his own. Everything is quite simple, but with a social overtones and an immortal theme. The second film is about the family and how strangers penetrate an unknown culture and become their own.
'Avatar: The Way of Water' is a depressing self-repeat. Every character here is a ‘waterman’ who fills the void with his empty stories. The main character "destroyed" in himself that little for which he was loved in the last part. The whole story is based on the family and the parents don’t understand me. We brought a fantastically mystical Santa Barbara. It's all pretty depressing. I have heard a lot of praise, though. I don't know. The first half of the film does not happen, the car of new characters does not have time to change and “pour us water”, all the achievements of the first film were merged. This is insanely beautiful porridge on water and fake additives. It was very hard for me to watch Avatar. The way of water. If you have enough 3 hours to stare at the bright effects, not paying attention to the stuffy plot, then I recommend a movie.
We all know why people go to see Avatar. Not because of deep script, interesting story, character development. They go to the Avatar for the spectacle. Cameron really made a real, crazy on his schedule, attraction. And this attraction should be watched, of course, as they say, “in full mince.” In movies, on the big screen, with 3D. I guess Avatar was created for that. To show how technology evolved and what can be done with it today. The first part is the second.
I was able to watch this tape on a fairly familiar, but with a large screen, TV. And even here you can feel how cool everything is done. The graphics are amazing and crazy. This is something I want to watch and review. Not too much into the details of the story. It is enough just to watch the picture as a beautiful digital wallpaper.
The plot is banal and simple. Again, “evil mechanical people” destroy everything living, for the sake of extraction of resources and profit, revenge “to the bones of the bad guy”, the problems of fathers and children, and so on. Everything we see in almost any tape. Of course, Cameron is probably not telling us about Pandora, but is trying to show us what we are doing to our Earth and society. But even if it is, it is very "on the surface."
Again, the second part, like the first one, is a real spectacle. With a capital letter. You have to enjoy this spectacle right. I hope I have the chance to see him for real.
However, I can't help but mention the spoonful of tar. Any attraction, whether it is a roller coaster or spinning cups from Beauty and the Beast, sooner or later gets bored. And in some cases, people can just get bored. Therefore, on these attractions and invented temporary sessions. That's what I mean... I think the second part is really long. The first film, to put it mildly, is not the shortest film in history. But the second part seemed too long to me. At some point, I had enough and I was not so interested and even somewhat difficult to watch what is happening on the screen. Everything has to be in moderation. Even such a spectacle.
Well, finally waited for the second part of the famous film “Avatar”, which at one time made a lot of noise. "Avatar" is a beautiful, exciting film. With its beauty and bright plot, the film has won millions of fans around the world, and I myself have repeatedly reviewed this story with pleasure.
Ten long years have passed, and here comes the epic sequel to Avatar 2: The Way of Water. The film follows the adventures of Jake Sally and his family. Jake and Neytiri had children and a large and friendly family lived happily in the woods until Pandora was attacked again. The main character, feeling that he will be pursued and the family is in danger, decides to go to the distant possessions of sea tribes.
The film turned out to be mega spectacular and beautiful! All three and a half hours you can admire the incredible nature of Pandora. The underwater world of the planet is delightful, without exaggeration. Impressive marine life, marine underwater world. I remember the moment of domestication of an underwater animal, which was considered an outcast. It was one of the moving stories in the film. In Pandora, you dive with the heroes and forget about everything. I watched the movie in 3D and got lost in time and space for a while. The special effects are incredible, the graphics are excellent. Very beautiful and cool. Technically, this is the largest film in existence.
About the plot. Unfortunately, frankly weak. From Cameron expect at least stronger, especially the release of the film was waiting for a decade. The plot without unexpected turns, the characters of the main characters are not disclosed, you do not feel any feelings for them. Even Sally in this part seemed emotionless and kind of wooden. And even when watching it seemed that the picture is a lot of superfluous heroes, from which the plot did not win anything.
And from the technical side, the film is beautiful and perfect, thought out to the smallest detail, and from the side of the script is flat and sometimes illogical. Dialogues are simple and frivolous. Sally frankly disappoints with his flight, who is this tribal leader who escapes in case of danger? Where is the brave Jake Sally who bravely fights for Pandora in the first part? For some reason, they brought back the antihero's past. Colonel. The second time he is not so interesting, even if he is in the body of the avatar. The Colonel's motivation is not clear, the conflict is built on hatred alone. It doesn't look serious.
The main message of the film is family values. Family is the most important thing in life, shows the conflicts of parents and children, the relationship between them. That's good. That's right. But it's boring. This is not what we expect from Avatar 2.
We already know that there will be a continuation of the film. It is planned to release the third and fourth parts. I’m really looking forward to it and I hope that the boring Way of Water is just a warm-up to something big and amazing. I believe in you, Cameron, you know how to surprise!
James Cameron’s original film Avatar was a real revolution in the field of entertainment cinema. The director for a long 15 years prepared it for the release, seriously worked both on the mythology of the unique alien world of Pandora, and on special effects that simply amazed the imagination. As a result, Avatar grossed almost $ 3 billion at the box office and its sequel was expected by literally everyone. Of course, I also wanted to see the new James Cameron film in the movies, because it is a continuation of the iconic Avatar, the highest-grossing blockbuster in history. And now the film finally came out and it was very intriguing. You have to watch it on the big screen.
Events presented in the sequel, occur a decade and a half after the finale of the first part. Jake Sally became a respected leader of his tribe, he formed a strong family with his beloved Naichiri and they are raising children. But people keep looking towards Pandora and come back to take her back. To do this, they use innovative technologies and are even able to bring back from oblivion those who long ago ceased to live, but in a slightly different, more technological and dangerous form, which can not but frighten Sally, who is well aware of the cruelty of his kind.
Realizing that he and his loved ones will be sought after, Jake Sully decides to take his family away from where they lived, namely in the possession of a sea tribe that is very far away. And now the tree dwellers have to adopt a new culture and survive in a place they are not used to. To begin with, the characters must understand how the life of the inhabitants of coastal areas is arranged and make friends with the local flora and fauna. But the war will come here sooner or later, and therefore Jake, Naichiri and their children will face a serious confrontation.
The film was spectacular and very beautiful. It is clear that the authors did not save on special effects and tried to make it impossible to come off the screen. All these underwater plants and animals really impressed me. We've never seen anything like this before. So as a visual feast, the film turned out great. Very interesting were the scenes on the domestication of the underwater monster, which everyone considered an outcast, but it was actually not what it seemed. This moment was given a lot of screen time, but at the same time we learned much more about the underwater world and the culture of Pandora.
As for the plot as a whole, it largely repeats the precepts of the very first part. People return again, they are obsessed with the desire to conquer the planet and in the end it all boils down to the final big fight. There is no special novelty here, but it is still interesting to watch. Not without Colonel Quaritch, played again by Stephen Lang. His return was teased by Cameron himself long before the release of the film on the screen and it was not a big surprise. The colonel continues to hate the world of Pandora and will do anything to subjugate it and a clash with Sally and his family is inevitable.
From the actors I want to highlight first of all Sam Worthington, who again repeated his iconic role of Jake Sally. He may not be very lucky in his career, but he still knows how to play deeply and soulfully. And the fact that his face is mostly hidden under the makeup of special effects, does not prevent him from giving the highest gaming class. And then Kate Winslet appeared as the wife of the leader of the sea tribe. It’s always nice when the director and his cast reunite years later.
In general, the film turned out loud, large-scale and spectacular. This is the kind of movie you should watch in cinemas. But at the same time, if you do not have this opportunity, you can look at home, there is nothing wrong with it.
If after watching the film you do not think why humanity, in its current self-consciousness, is a parasitic species, then apparently you have become so wrapped up in routine that you have ceased to perceive yourself not only as part of this world, but also as a living intelligent being.
“Why?” you might ask, and I will try, I do not know if I can express the idea clearly enough, and yet I will try:
If you take nothing in return, it is consumerism, parasitism, no matter how you justify your existence, whether it is the benefit of your work (to whom this benefit is useful, to whom it makes happy), from the taxes you pay (to whom it is good from these taxes, what is done for them and for whom), etc. To put it simply, humanity eats, as not in itself, and exclusively for itself and for itself, and the rare representations that see the beauty of the world in which they live, have the opportunity to enjoy these beauty and splendor, but tell me where is the responsibility of each person before everything living in our (with you, your) world.
Mankind has lost shame, conscience and honor, and has nurtured lies within itself (people lie to themselves and believe), hypocrisy (turning away from injustice, not not noticing it) and meanness (the end justifies the means, and the end, even if you do not realize it (*lie), survive, and preferably cooler than your neighbor).
How can one not begin to despise humanity after watching this, and similar, movie?
- You just have to love: love this land, love this ocean, love this sky... and love people, because there are no others, there are these, whatever they are, people... while people are still people.
The long-awaited second part of “Avatar” finally thundered around the world, and there really is something to see.
In terms of visuals, the film definitely surpassed its “big brother”, as the picture tirelessly pleased the eye throughout the three hours. In addition to the visual component, I was pleased with the increased scale of what was happening. Locations of the forest, ocean and reefs of Pandora had a literally intoxicating effect due to the chic combination of bright colors and good work of the operator.
The plot, however, did not strike something really unusual and even in many ways repeated the first part. However, the obvious difference is the emphasis on family, family values and complex relationships within the family. I admit, I wanted more actors from the first part and much more unpredictability of the plot, but who cares about what I want? In any case, Cameron has done a monumental job that definitely deserves attention.

Well, 13 years of waiting were not in vain. Expensive, rich, epic. Some people will say too cartoonish. It could be! It looks pretty good. But... Sitting in the cinema for more than 3 hours, honestly, I don’t know how. I watched in pieces for 20-30 minutes for a few nights and I was tired. In fantasy scriptwriters can not refuse, as they say. And judging by the fact that there will be several sequels, the desire to “recapture the money” from the creation of films about the unfortunate Pandora from the producers, at least add to it. Some people like it, some people don't. The main thing here, according to the joking expression attributed to the popular rumor of D. Nehru, is to observe measure in everything. We'll see.
Avatar: The Way of Water is the long-awaited sequel to the acclaimed film Avatar (2009) directed by James Cameron. Despite the fact that many years have passed since the release of the first part, the continuation aroused great interest among viewers. However, the film only partially met expectations.
The plot of the film revolves around the confrontation between Earthlings and Na'vi, this time focusing on the aquatic inhabitants of the planet Pandora. The main characters of the film, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), face new dangers and adventures, trying to protect their people and establish peace with the earthlings.
The visual aspect of the film is certainly impressive. Stunning special effects and graphics raise the bar of quality and immerse the viewer in the magical world of Pandora. Without a doubt, Cameron has once again demonstrated his mastery of creating exciting and realistic worlds.
However, the plot suffers from some problems, which reduces the overall level of the film. First, some characters and storylines seem to be underdeveloped and do not fit into the bigger picture. Second, the movie is boring and boring. Many viewers may notice that the dynamics of events often slows down, which does not allow the viewer to fully immerse themselves in the plot.
The cast, in general, coped with the tasks. Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana continued to sincerely and convincingly embody their characters, but the secondary characters sometimes leave much to be desired. Some actors have failed to reach the full potential of their characters, making them less memorable and less appealing to the audience.
The musical accompaniment of the film, composed by James Horner, will please the audience with new compositions that organically fit into the atmosphere of the world of Pandora. They enhance the emotional component of the film and give additional charm to some scenes.
One of the main problems of the film is that it failed to reach the level of its predecessor. Despite huge expectations and an impressive budget, Avatar: The Way of Water could not fully recreate the magic of the first part. This can be the result of a long time between the release of both parts, a change in the tastes of viewers or a weakness in the script.
Overall, Avatar: The Way of Water is a mixed experience for viewers. Visual and musical accompaniment are the film’s strengths, while the weak plot and uneven quality of acting undermine its merits. The film may appeal to dedicated fans of the franchise and fans of visually spectacular blockbusters, but for those looking for a deep and immersive plot, Avatar: The Way of Water can be a disappointment.
The expression “people armed to the teeth” turned out to be literal. In new bodies, people return to the planet to obtain a new resource - amrita - a yellow chemical liquid obtained from killed tulkunes. This liquid serves to stop aging, and on Earth it is very expensive.
In the film, the viewer is given to understand that the planet Pandora is an intelligent, unified, living organism. However, the question arises: why does he not, having great power, turn all his might against the "heavenly people"? The planet calmly watches as its inhabitants are exterminated: Na'vi and animals. The forest, which Neytiri and Jake know so well, is in no hurry to inform the main characters of the film about the ambush that awaits them. The family is forced to flee from imminent danger on their own planet - in their own environment.
Merit of the film
There is no twisted plot with an unpredictable ending, but this is not necessary. The picture is simple, at the same time reminds you to remain a person.
I liked the movie and didn’t feel any heaviness in my head during the movie or the next day. Like the first part, the second film poses one of the most important questions before the viewer - who can be called a traitor? However, the first part is more interesting and better disclosed.

The avatar revolutionized visual imagery. The basic idea of the planet as a single organism (hello to Vernadsky’s noosphere) is fascinatingly beautiful, though not new. Emotions overwhelmed everyone watching. Unfortunately, this is all about the 1st film. . .
13 years! The seed from the 1st is such that Cameron had carte blanche for everything, just do! what did we get in the end?
Context: The film doesn’t give any new ideas. Even the ideas of the 1st film are not exploited. Nothing to read between the lines - it's just a passing movie.
Characters: The main problem. There's just no Navi in this movie. They're big, stupid blue people. I will say more: Forest Navi are Americans (come on, Dad, push, fight with the neighbor's boy for harassment - where are the aliens here?). Water Navi are New Zealand Maori - the tattoos are the same, even the language they stick out in the traditional style of khaka when angry. Cameron, what about fantasy, how does that fit with meaning? The characters are not just primitive, they are high school dialogues.
Even if there was some intrigue... Nope. No surprises for 3 hours. Banal and boring in the square, and given the expectations - to an extent.
Conclusion: Apart from visual effects, there is nothing to look at.
I remember going to the Avatar movie after the couples at university. Not to say that took your breath away, but I liked it. Not to say that they showed even at that time something new, but it was still interesting.
I don’t know why the second movie came out 14 years later, because he can’t do anything but pull money out of the purses of the audience. Except that he can show a beautiful picture.
The plot is just incredibly naive and secondary. Yes, even if you close the eyes of the inconsistency: by and large, the plot is not here. Here they show the life and way of life of another, the Navi sea tribe, not forgetting to dip in them the prolific Sally and his family. Not that the plot in the first film shocked the imagination (remembers the meme with edits of the script Pacahontas), but there still felt that the plot is not just for a tick. In the second film, there is a strong feeling that the plot was simply screwed to a beautiful picture to be. The wild duration of three hours is incomprehensible to me, because if you take and remove the second hour from the film, then ... nothing will change! Nothing at all. Therefore, there is nothing to say about the heroes of the film: they are cardboard, they do not empathize. Sally. If in the first part he could empathize, then he somehow causes rejection.
Well, the picture is beautiful. Forests, the ocean with all sorts of strange animals, all that. It's not a problem. But this film did not pull out, sometimes it was even boring.
