Run past. It is not often that I get annoyed by watching a movie. Sometimes even the lowest-grade horror can be great to entertain with its cardboard scenery, godlessly overplaying actors, as well as the deliberate seriousness of the narrative, which actually looks like a black comedy. Unfortunately, the picture of the unknown director David Edwards under the title "Night Escape" does not bring any joy to view it. Of course, this is the classic representative of B-movies in the worst sense of this meaning: a paltry budget, a pathetic story, a lack of talent from all the creators of the project. The picture is so blurry and uninteresting that not only can not scare, but also cannot laugh. This is a real fresh spectacle, which is extremely difficult to watch before the final.
The plot of the picture begins with serious lines from the Bible, which describe sinister creatures from the distant past - Leviathan. As you can understand, it is representatives of this ancient species that will terrify the heroes of the film. The story itself describes the fate of three extraordinary people in the vast expanses of the American hinterland. A young rider and his charming companion wander a deserted road after losing a guy at an illegal night race. Somehow, getting to an old cafe, the heroes discover that all the visitors are brutally murdered, and the local waitress turns out to be a huge otherworldly monster that kills, eats and infects unhappy people with his spores! However, a third hero enters the plot - a lonely leviathan hunter who travels around the country like a hero of the series "Supernatural" and destroys such creatures of evil. Only to escape from the deadly leviathan will not work for everyone, and besides, even your loved one can turn into a monster incapable of compassion. The only way out of this situation is to kill.
Unfortunately, the description of the picture is much more interesting than the painting itself. The very first thing that attracts viewing is the film poster, which is almost a copy of the advertising poster of the famous project of Quentin Tarantino "Proof of death". And even though this film of the master is perceived quite ambiguously, but it is guaranteed to go down in the history of cinema, in contrast to the completely failed “Night Escape”. However, clinging to the viewer with similar methods of comparison with more famous films will work only in some cases. The viewers themselves will soon realize that Edwards's painting is not worthy of attention. To begin with, the film begins with rather psychedelic footage that describes a rather trivial race on the night highway. The exorbitant amount of light glare that J. J. Abrams did not dream of, image distortion and a non-standard soundtrack. It seems that the director tried such techniques to give his film more significance and sublimity. However, in fact, we have a story about the confrontation of another hunter for evil spirits with another monster. Also, unprepared civilians are woven into the plot so that we have someone to worry about seriously. But none of the characters presented, well, with the exception of the hunter, does not look at the viewing. It seems that the creators specially prescribed to their heroes moderately scandalous, moderately inexpressive images so unsophisticated that we absolutely did not have a sense of compassion and interest in their fates. But why even look at the picture? There is no plausible drama here, the visual component is only annoying with its helplessness, unexpected plot moves are absent as a species. In addition, it was not necessary to delay the “Night Escape” to the standard hour and a half. In the world of video production, the picture could be safely shortened for twenty minutes and save viewers from unnecessary waste of time. Especially since the script was clearly written in haste, and Edwards does not have any acceptable technical aspects of the production to shoot a full-fledged film. I also note that in such paintings, often all the expressionless spectacle comes down to a more or less exciting ending. But even here the Night Escape does not stand out and remains to the end a faceless mediocrity.
In the world of home video, especially in the horror genre, there are a huge number of films that do not have the described viewership. Just such projects include "Night Escape", from which I am trying to protect you. I cannot recommend this production to any of the audience, because an hour and a half of life can be spent on much more useful and interesting activities than watching a talentless film.
