Cal is a sequel to 2009's "Sharpening." The film tells the story of a guy who returned to his native Britain. The mother is seriously ill and is in the hospital, the aunt is constantly drinking. No work and no money. He quickly finds a friend who pulled out of a difficult situation, sheltered him. Together they try to get back on their feet.
Director and screenwriter Christian Martin, as it seems to me, should not work at all in the cinema, his work is too depressing and tough, yes, and filmed, to put it mildly, not very much. If in the first film we were shown tough sex scenes, then here is just the hard truth of life. As I have already written about “Sharpening”, such life situations simply do not happen. Heroes live in a fictional world. He's just gone. It does not even save documentary footage of the situation in the interior of the country. Or rather, it will even be said that our heroes do not fit into the environment at all, and, therefore, the question arises why it was all to show it, would have stopped just on the guys.
Anyway, the movie is weird. In the end, hard presses on emotions, but from the stupidity of everything you see, you just shrug your shoulders. I’m ready to accept any ending as long as the film is over.
All I remember after watching was the naked Wayne Virgo who was shown in all its glory. He may not be a bad actor, but he has absolutely nothing to do in this movie, so he’s just stripped off once, stripped off two, and forced to have sex with a guy. All. And that's the whole movie. Weak.
