“Let all the bad go with us.” (a film that raked a bunch of awards and brought Dhanusha a national award).
A highly praised film in its time - almost seven years ago, which brought as many as 6 awards, including best director and script and, of course, best actor. I don’t know, in my opinion, there are more colorful, more emotional and more dramatic films in Dhanush’s filmography. I started to watch two or three times, and something didn’t come together, stopped, even with all my love for Dhanush, such a portion of rude overgrown men shaking lungs is too much. Then somehow I went and watched, and I want to say that this is an ordinary Tamil drama, however, with a strong actor in the title role. Probably, it is strong with its ordinaryity - that is, it is something tough, but not blood-snot twisted with moronic disassemblies and flights. No, there's not one stupid fight and flip-flops and flip-flops. There are generally very few stunt fighting scenes, no shooters, no superhero heroic hand-to-hand and nogodly duels. There are several cockfights, quite gambling and with passion. In order not to hit the green, all the roosters were vividly drawn on the computer, it was, of course, noticeable that they were drawn, but the eye did not cut.
At first, as I said, I was drawn in for a very long time, but then I even began to empathize - and worried about everyone in a row. Once again I was convinced that... if you yourself with a pure heart and a pure and bright soul – do not naively think that all people around, and even sometimes close and proven for years, are also the same.. decent, honest and bright.. how naive this.. again to live and not trust anyone always suspect and look back – this is also not the right life and very evil. In general, the choice is always the final one, and in this case the person (Karuppa) chose to leave. Escape. About all these fights, passions of cocks, money, bets and thirst for victory at any cost, undercover intrigue, from behind-the-scenes machinations, manipulations on ambition, pride, greed, stupidity, thirst for freebie. In the heat of passions and unexpectedly occurring human vices, cinema is close to Shakespearean tragedies, although not everyone who deserved died in the finale. Who would have thought it was like politics: everyone wants to win and will go to any dirty game to beat the opponent. And it comes to the fact that not only cock feathers fly, but also human heads. All I had to do was calm down and turn on my brain. Knowing the Tamils, just in case I was ready for the worst, wildest and cruelest options for the denouement, so the final for me was almost a happy ending.
The undoubted advantages should include directing and decent camera work. The Indian village is authentically shown, and it feels like that’s how they live. Not to say that it is a horror, but poverty is not covered here with all sorts of glamorous nonsense and is not obscured by the beauty of landscapes. It shows what I call "just life." Dhanush's wonderful play. He undoubtedly deserved his National Award, everything was played well, convinced, touched and made once again forget about his appearance. But, there are also wonderful secondary actors, almost everything. Men and women, and enemies and companions. Wonderful old women, just natural Tamil grumpy witches. And even Taapsi Pannu, it's pretty good. It should be said about her especially - her early works do not impress me at all, here she was boiled through the whole film, a little played out at the end, but so - vata-wool. To be fair, she was not enough, she was not allowed to dance (and very correctly), she walked with a sad look and practically did not shine unnecessarily. Now she has grown a lot as an actress, and it’s good – a good girl.
There is no doubt that there is no Tamil comedian. I’m tired of all the movies.
Conclusion: I recommend everyone as an example of a high-quality, non-stupid, realistic South. A rare Tamil movie. If you love Dhanush, see for sure, this role is one of his strongest (well, so it is considered, but, I repeat, everything is subjective, I think there are more interesting his works).
