The Pollen of Flowers (Hwabun), 1972 The plot of the film should be presented in a couple of features, so as not to violate the narrative specially confused by the director:
A rich man brings into his own house his henchman, a boy whom he picked up almost from the street, trained, nurtured, allowed him to run his own affairs. The daughter of a rich man falls in love with the boy, which leads to (really) unexpected turns: it is not only about events, but also about the numerous fantasies of various heroes, which are really very difficult to distinguish from them.
The film is absolutely brilliant. It surprises most of the timekeeping, causing pure delight. It is the first time I have seen one film in itself so exquisitely unite whole heaps of completely different themes.
1) Political contexts, because the film begins with finding parasites in the garden, and the main conflicts of the films are almost directly class, although this is not emphasized;
2) Existential contexts - what are only the blows of an invisible hammer during the imprisonment of a protégé in a forest barn?
(3) Momentary romantic contexts, which are given little time, but they, invisible, lie at the heart of what is happening;
(4) Surprisingly ahead of time, the language of depicting metaphysical concepts in physical form (the scene with the limbs being torn off, for example, immediately reminded me of the recent “Neon demon”).
In addition, it is necessary to note the excellent work of the composer - the frame in the film adapts to the music; a number of scenes cut into consciousness precisely due to melancholy repetitive rhythms, which serve as the main color of what is happening.
For those of you who happen to stumble upon this review, and the time for the film is not very much - I really ask you to watch one scene from this film. You will find the film in YouTube on the Korean Film Academy channel, based on the title of this review. It begins with the murder of a goldfish, and ends with an attempt by the driver to crush the wheels of a car running away from him on the beach of a person.
31:48 - 46:04.
In the film there is only one drawback - the actors, paying tribute to their time, sometimes a little overplay, but you will see how beautiful they do it!
