It seems like big men, a break down like little girls. Charlie Vaughn is involved in many projects as an actor, producer and director, but he is not known to anyone. It happens. Among his films, which have survived at least in amateur translation, are the disgusting 2011 Vampire Boys and Sea Water, released a year later. The homophobic part of the audience definitely should not even get acquainted with the projects, and more loyal and interested movie fans ... no, neither.
The problem of "Sea Water" is not even in amateur shooting and incompetence of actors. There is a moment in the film that you wouldn’t expect, but when it happens, all the charm of the connection between the main characters becomes somehow eerily bland and soapy. Before this dramatic episode, two healthy, not the first freshness, but not the last, the man in every way can not begin to be with each other. At first it looks very funny, and then gradually you realize that you are tired of watching their throwing and doubts, and especially the so-called dilutive accidents. And like a movie about how two different people eventually overcome their own indecision, coupled with each other's shortcomings, to create a lasting love union, but there is too much "water" mixed here to distinguish the main conflict with a clear line.
Written by Ron Smith, who played Will. I would like to ask Ron, did he not play with the intentional ease and even in something empty frivolity of his work? It is clear that “Sea Water” does not claim anything more than a cinematic romantic “gum” with a homosexual bias, only the trouble in excessive focus on what should be done without. Frequently occurring “mercy scenes” can still be tolerated, given their ease. Scenes in which all sorts of affairs suddenly arise to divorce the characters (and score timekeeping), looking extremely ridiculous, out of place - this is an obvious assumption that prevents the plot from ending normally after the notorious dramatic climax.
The finale is not difficult to guess, given that we are just a household fairy tale about “incompatible compatibility”. Another thing is that it came out too sweet, like the picture from the “valentine”, which finally finishes the film, as if to say: “Spectator, you are a snotty boy who grew up on Brazilian TV series, and we will not give you anything else.”
Of course, there is a lot to be asked of projects like this, but should there be a line to empty fantasies? Should the writer stop (or stop the director by asking him to rewrite part of the script) when it is clear that the case is dead? This rule has never been heard of here. And it turned out that way.
