For deeper immersion in the "lana core" I think everyone should do what they do well in life. Yes, arthouse cinema is for that and arthouse, to be incomprehensible and indigestible (because it lasts at least 15 minutes, not 4 hours), but I think a film with the participation of the legendary Lana Del Rey could be done better.
Lana is a brilliant singer, as an actress she is about nothing. Here she is not even at the height of her career, is indicated in the credits under her real name. A pig peel, a straw washcloth on her head and false eyelashes are all that can be said about her heroine Lisa, who is far from the brilliant glamour and gloss that the woman playing her will later become famous for. As far as I understand, she here embodied the carefree American content of some sugar daddy, who was tired of his decrepit body and she decided to take a sin on the soul together with a poor thief-pool cleaner, who got a job with them for the summer.
I am sure that the authors themselves did not understand (and did not intend to understand) what this movie is about. Nothing. They filmed it stupidly fanatic, nothing more. I believe that most arthouse tapes are created on this principle.
I don’t know what else to say about such an empty picture. She has the charm of amateur cinema, something like Andy Warhol movies. I was also interested in seeing the debut role of my favorite singer (let’s face it, we all watched it because of Lizzie).
In the future, swimming pools will play a colossal role in the songs of Elizabeth Grant, and her most loyal fans will review “Poolside” more than once, finding different meanings in it and admiring the aesthetics of the work. Well, I believe and hope that someday my attention will be presented to a new film with the participation of Lanochka, in which her acting potential will be revealed as fully and deeply as her singing.
5 out of 10
(Very overestimated)
P.S. - Why wasn't she allowed to sing here? The fact that Lana Del Rey has not been revealed from any side is a real crime.
