Ghosts with video With all due respect to the wonderful actress Brittany Murphy, who died suddenly at the age of 32, and her husband Simon Monjack, who gave impetus to the creation of the film “I seduced Andy Warhol”, who outlived his wife only five months. I remember them both...
Sean McConville is one of a series of “dark horses” who either make a movie or don’t, because he acted as a full-length debutant with the film “Deadline”. In fact, for fans of sports, and in particular football, this term means the closing of the transfer window, when clubs no longer have the right to conclude deals for the purchase and sale of their players and the day before the most interesting things begin. In this case, it was better not to translate, because the word "Dead" is accepted by many as "Death", not "Extreme", which is quite suitable for a mystical horror film. Yes, only if you think about it, this very "Deadline" does not reflect much of what is happening in the tape.
A young writer (by the standards of the prose genre) runs to a remote cottage, where she hopes to find inspiration and write something new. It is eaten by the internal drama of parting with her husband, who, as you can guess, is a clear criminal element, and he loved to let his hands loose in relation to his wife. The girl runs, she is supported by a close friend who is with her for a while. But as soon as the friend leaves, the writer begins a nightmare: the house seems to talk to her, ghosts, moans - all this in a full set. Unfortunately for Sean McConville, this is all cliché. Only with the help of an unexpected approach, he could get close to the horror classics (no speech about Alfred Hitchcock, this figure is unshakable) Wes Craven (" Nightmare on Elm Street, "Scream") and Tobe Hooper (" Texas Chainsaw Massacre), but this in the film "Deadline" no one will find.
And quickly find key inconsistencies in the construction of even the script, which was written by Sean McConville. The girl finds videotapes where there is a clear pretext for the murder of the main character. But the writer does not even make attempts to transfer this evidence to the police. And even the remoteness of the house where she lives does not give reason to think that all this fits into a logical framework. And such plot, connecting, logical errors abound. Unfortunately, Sean McConville managed to lead Brittany Murphy to the fact that the behavior of her heroine is extremely inconsistent with logical norms. She watches videos when her desperately jealous husband turns into a madman, and behind her is the ghost of a murdered woman. In theory, this would make everyone shit in their pants, but with Murphy's heroine, this does not happen, and only tears flow. What can be learned from this? It's just weird. This behavior of the heroine is reminiscent of the actions of Eva Mendes, whose talent increasingly leaves questions, in the film “Ghost Rider”, when she only stepped back one step after seeing that the hero Nicholas Cage suddenly had a demonic fire on his head.
Deadline was played by a minimal number of actors, there was a big bet on Brittany Murphy, but she did not play. After this picture, I want to say and confirm the idea that all actors are sometimes forced people and do their work as professionals, absolutely listening to the commands of the main director. Brittany wasn't in the movie she needed. Unfortunately... And there is another association when Jessica Alba could not play in the remake of the Japanese horror “Eye” on a Hollywood motif.
Fearless, the leitmotif is incomprehensible, the character of the heroine is replete with a lack of logic, and the attempt to turn everything upside down in the final looked already with a bitter grin.
