Opera masterpiece. “The Tsar’s Bride” is an opera in four acts by Nikolai Andreevich Rimsky – Korsakov based on the drama of Lev Mey in the treatment of Ilya Tyumenev. The first performance took place on October 22, 1899 in the theater of the Moscow Association of Private Russian Opera.
This opera is one of my favorites. I can't help but cry when the first notes of the overture sound. Incomparable music that penetrates directly into the soul. Drama mixed with gentle lyrics. What to say is a classic.
Therefore, when I learned about the existence of such a film – opera, I immediately watched it. Despite the fact that the tape apparently has not been restored since 1964, I was indescribably delighted.
The actors were chosen perfectly, the voices of the singers behind the scenes, even though the film is old, sounded beautiful, clean. The overall color of the situation makes you believe in what is happening. I couldn't help crying again. Bravo!
Vladimir Gorikker as a director perfectly coped with this very time-consuming work. So, if you want to get acquainted with the world classics or once again enjoy it, this tape is simply necessary for acquaintance and viewing.
