I'll be your reason to get high. Oh, this fashion for smoking and Western lifestyle! No, I don't mind. Everyone goes crazy in their own way, or as they say, there are worse things than all this. But when it comes to art, you cannot be silent.
We are not even quite a short film, but ... advertising a lighter that flashed in one of the frames close-up. At least, no other impression is created, since Evgeny Kostenko managed to work on the form and design (black and white film, pretentious handsome in the title role, the necessary camera plans, good editing and storyboard), but missed the content, and so brazenly and hypocritically, as a passenger who was late with tickets for two misses his and someone else's flight.
Not that there should be a big story here. Perhaps, it is not necessary to try on semantic content, no matter how the viewer (and in this case your humble servant) was offended for the two-minute void presented. But an additional irritant is a kind of dismissive tone that permeates every piece of the film: like, here I am, a modern-day burner of life, I am young and smoke a lot, I release smoke in your face because I don’t need you – well, all that. This approach provokes a desire to laugh, because it clearly traces the tendency of modern youth to be cynical, to live at full speed, to sew and “friend” most of their surroundings. Oh, how naive you are to think that you are little kings of this mortal world!
Yes, now the reviewer is overcome only by thoughts that he twisted himself. You can accuse him of incompetence by laughing back. Do you think every cigarette should have a taste? And if you compare short films with cigarettes, this particular taste was quite ambiguous, and in the end - even a little bitter. That once again proved how important content is even in the smallest cinematic work, despite all the gloss and brilliance of the ironed form.
A form where sometimes nothing is hidden.
