I think a lot of people have seen the French film Le Prénom, made in 2012 by Alexandre de la Patelier and Mathieu Delaport, and I have seen it and I like it.
The Italian version is called “Name for the Son” (in the Russian box office “Italian Name”) / Il nome del figlio, directed by Francesca Arkibuggi, 2015. The plot, if I remember correctly, is almost identical, with the exception of some details, but transferred to Italian soil, and some of the characters are Italian Jews, so the name Benito, which jokingly announces a name for his son Paolo, sounds even more terrible to them than the name Adolf in the French version. So, four old friends gather, two of whom (Betta and Sandro) are now husband and wife, two (Betta and Paolo) are brother and sister, one (Claudio) is their old mutual friend, then they are joined by the wife of Paolo Simona, now an aspiring writer, who is just waiting for a child whose name is being discussed. As often happens in such cases, an unconventional topic raises other, including unrelated issues, opens up unexpected connections between the characters, even generates situational conflicts, but everything ends well. The only thing I do not remember is whether the original flashbacks with references to the youth of the main characters, which are in the Italian film. Good actors are busy - Alessandro Gassmann (son of Vittorio Gassmann, who also became a famous actor in Italy now), Luigi Lo Casho, Valeria Golino, etc. It's not a bad movie, but I'm kind of cool about all sorts of adaptations. By the way, there is also a German version, but I will not look at it yet.
