A Good Average from Psychos Oddly enough, Psycho (the film company Asylum, this is how it is translated, although officially - "patient") begins to produce good films. And this is not the first of their “esalemchik”, after which you can pass (but not kill) time.
There's a nuance, though. If you are stressed by non-critical blunders, cheap special effects, average actors (serial rank), then you will not like this film.
But I was always interested in the story, the idea. And for the rest, I kindly close my eyes. Of course, such films, no matter how good they are, will never get from me 7 points or more (with rare exceptions), but a positive review and at least 6 I guarantee them.
I will not discuss the film crew: director, screenwriters, actors. I don't think you know them. If you do, you are in the minority.
I will not discuss the quality of the film (I think there are many locations, and sometimes the scenes themselves are painted by guys from the production of computer games), blunders (they forget that the plane is damaged and passengers sit quietly, even do not blow themselves off), the play of actors and extras (well, it is clear here, I think). I want to talk about the movie.
So, storm, hole in time, 1940 (why did our film distributors translate as Flight 1942?) Yeah, it's not new. This has happened before. But the idea is still interesting. Imagine if you were in such a mess. So what? I would be stunned. Maybe I'd be stupored. And so I wonder what reaction did the writers come up with? What moves have you prepared? What surprises?
I like that the creators did not breed for an hour and a half snot and nunny in the style of “we will all die, we are dead, help mi anibady”. Yes, they were shocked, accepted reality and started acting. Too easy? But the guys, however, are tired of movies where crying and tears 2/3 of screen time, and in the end begin to do something. I was just starting to do it right away, so I’m happy.
I like that they did not cultivate stupid ideas in the style of “let’s go.” (And then there’s a list of incredibly stupid ideas.) Yes, there will be an attempt to promote something, but then ...
By the way, I like that there's not much stupid dialogue. Movies of this level abound (you need something to fill screen time). Here, for example, I liked the arguments for the authors of the aforementioned “stupid ideas”. Look for yourself. Everything is clear, clear, concise.
Get ready to see a piece of alternate history. No, it's not a lie, it's meant to be.
The film is mostly chamber, but there will be scenes with both “our” and “Germans” (I think in each country the kids shared the armies of the Second World War).
And yes, a clue. Watch the ending carefully. Pay attention to the inscriptions (a couple of minutes before the credits). Nice turn! I did not pay attention to the character. Then you will understand everything when you see this scene (the reason for its appearance and so on).
Yes, there are many things for which you can mercilessly cut down the assessment. But I knew I was going to watch. I didn't prepare to watch a Spielberg movie. I didn’t expect to see Ben Kinglesey, Robert Glenister, Vincent Price. The film did not betray my expectations.
I'm putting in 6 points. They also have an aka series called The Walking Dead. They say it's done well. Well, let's see...
