The first three films were a revolution in the Transformers universe. Michael Bay introduced less than good, successful action movies - with tin, shots, murders and just funny moments. Then it got worse and worse from the usual cast to the stupid plot. I didn’t watch the fifth part at all, and I watched the fourth part only in movies and nothing more.
At one point I saw a part of Bumblebee’s movie online. By the way, it was not Bay's authorship, and I was even more interested. I decided to try to watch this movie. The sacrifice I made as two hours of my time, I think I will remember it for a long time in my old age.
My precious time wasted on a meaningless, childish cartoon. So primitive and boring that there is nowhere else to go.
Plot.
The first three minutes of the film were really cool, and I thought it was going to be exciting and interesting, with Bumblebee starring. In fact, it turned out that the film is just about some kind of childish relationship between people and robots. The main character along with this shaggy Bumblebee and the US Army with two noums from the ranks of the Decepticons is a complete kringe.
Well, they also came up with a somehow traumatized fate of the main character, on which the whole film is fixated.
Well, the most simple basic, primitive, childlike, readable story. Most importantly, the clichéd villains have not been forgotten. Who are these Decepticons, I don't even know their names. In general, good defeated evil.
The only thing I liked was the guy who was trying to get to the main character. He's so funny, it's a shame he's in the Friend Zone.
Design and music.
I will combine two blocks at once, there is nothing more to talk about.
The design of Transformers is not bad, better than in the films of Bay, and the musical accompaniment is cool and nostalgic.
At the end of the day, the movie is boring, I don’t know who. There are few characters, but at first I thought there would be many. In the end, it became boring, as the ending itself loomed in my head. Well, maybe the kids will like the movie, and so weak.

A film about how a legendary war turns into a domestic dog
I went to this film with a clear conviction: It will be a warm lamp rod about your favorite transformer. It happened a little differently.
First, the backstory of the film shows us how cool and dynamic everything was. And then instead of one of the legendary Autobots, we get a cute babysitter. An autobot that 1 costs an entire army. But meeting the main character on the basis of amnesia becomes frankly nappy. The film obviously wanted to make for the 3+ category, although its sane rating is 16+ and bring back all normal fighting scenes.
All the dynamics merged. In principle, only the prologue is responsible for it. And the only worthy thank you can say to the artists who painted transformers, and the person who insisted on inserting the famous tractor. Yes, the one who leads all the “good” aliens from Cybertron.
What to praise:
1) Excellent work by artists
2) Good sound design. There was no doubt about it.
(3) Effective prologue with dynamic combat
What to blame:
1) It’s a very simple story, made up of clichés.
2) The dynamics of the narrative died with the arrival of Bumblebee on Earth
(3) The army as always is a useless background
(4) Bumblebee transforming from one of the most powerful wars into a serene navel. Behavior copied from Labrador, no other way.
General impression:
This film is only for one time and only if you have decided that you will have the patience to wait for the continuation of this “reboot”.

Bumblebee, if you think about it, has a number of significant drawbacks. But it masquerades so well as a normal movie that it is easy for him to forgive them.
First, the bad. If we consider the painting by Travis Knight as a continuation of the pentalogy of Michael Bay, it does not withstand any criticism. At least because it simply sends to fig everything that was said in “The Last Knight”, and in other films.
Old Michael has been deducing the history of Transformers on Earth since ancient times. And they had a hand in building the Egyptian pyramids (or what?). And Merlin was familiar, and with Catherine the Great. When Americans went to the moon, they found what? Right, traces of the Transformers.
You can close your eyes to the frankly delusional scenarios of recent films, but Bumblebee contradicts even the very first, 2007, quite whole and promising, having along with the antagonists a sufficient number of admirers. Archibald Witwicky found an artifact from the world of robots, around which the plot is built, at the dawn of the twentieth century, it seems.
Erm... I hope it will not be a strong spoiler information that in the first frames of the last so far film franchise Optimus Prime sends the future Bumblebee to Earth as a completely unknown point in the universe? For intelligence, so to speak, where you can create a secret base.
The studio and the producers have two ways. It is difficult and unpredictable to try to explain this discrepancy in any way. Well, for example, that transformers have typical models, similar robots succeed each other, like family members of several generations. And that in the previous film, in the scenes referring to the Second World War, we saw some other Bumblebee. Or maybe something even more cunning, to which the audience will definitely have a lot of questions. And claims.
A simpler, but fraught with reputational losses, is simply to announce that Bumblebee was a reboot, and everything that came before it doesn’t count. It’s going to be difficult, because they’re not going to want to hurt Bay like that (he was the producer of this tape, by the way, and it’s unclear where he looked). There is simply no other way.
I do, though. You can, as Bay himself has repeatedly done, just score on logic and plot and shoot further. These are Transformers!
In general, how the continuation of the Bumblebee franchise does not stand up to any criticism. But it's beautiful on its own. Oh, if it were a separate movie. If there wasn't any Bay with his hell of special effects and scripted zagogulins. Maybe somewhere in a parallel, better world. And that's where this movie came from.
Every actor here is in his place. Nobody overdoes it. No one looks like a joke hero or a schematic character in a comic book. Well, except for the military, inherited Bumblebee from its predecessors in almost pure form. They still naively believe the antagonistic characters, almost directly stating who they are and how they will actually be.
Maybe there's another problem. It was noted by many early reviewers and “professional” critics. The plot is too clichéd and similar to several popular paintings from our childhood. So be it. But this is much better than the orgy that Bay created on the screen.
Haley Steinfeld is a very smart girl and is already a very good actress. The American Film Academy did not make a mistake. Plays emotionally, not only with words and movements, but also with his face. Oh, yeah, it plays every emotion! Unlike the notorious LaBeouf, he in each picture has about one and a half grimaces for all occasions. Also good are Pamela Adlon and Stephen Schneider as mom and stepfather. At least does not annoy Jorge Lindeborg Jr. in the role of a secret admirer of the heroine, an indecisive boy in love. Somehow you believe him. We were all like that.
By the way, there is a joke analogy. I apologize to those who are not immersed in the world of football, but Jorge in the role of Memo looks very similar to the midfielder of the Belgian national team Axel Witsel. Given that Witsel was born in 1989, and the film is about the events of 1987, I had an hour and a half in my head that the main characters could become his parents two years later. And Len Kariu in the role of Uncle Hank, also strongly resembles the legendary coach Alex Ferguson.
Good, positive, a little naive film. To some, the contrast with the previous parts seemed too sharp, and the movie seemed like a childish one. Indeed, unlike Bay's five tapes, he's not ashamed to sit down and watch with a child. Is it worth criticizing the creators of the picture? I don't think so. He brings today’s adults, but not yet old people into their childhood. In the 80s – 90s, such a movie sometimes became a classic. I don’t think there are any examples, though they are.
The recommendation “do not watch” can be given, probably, only inveterate movie fans, who will not be surprised by anything. For them, the number of stamps may seem too large. For others who want easy entertainment for the evening, “Bumblebee” is a great option for adventure and romantic cinema, giving rise to a lot of associations, in its own way touching, at the same time funny and sad, aimed primarily at awakening emotions.
The only claim is that in an attempt to steer the entire yellow robot movie franchise in a different direction, it breaks with the past so decisively that it unwittingly destroys the foundations. However, they are so unattractive that it is not too bad. But some prudish minds, unable to turn off logic when viewing, may be upset by this circumstance. What matters here is what Bumblebee will be in the context of the sequels. Find out in 2022?
We will hardly find it interesting to examine whether the decepticons are born warriors and murderers, whether Optimus’ autobots are a mechanized parody of the proletariat, and whether it is not time for us to save the world again.
In this particular movie, one autobot turned out to be cute. Compared to man, he is a bulky machine for work and murder, but he became the best friend of a masculinized young lady.
In domestic jargon, such people are called "boys" - likes auto junk, not a fool to fight, although estrogens are more likely to help you cry, rather than get furious.
She also likes ethnically fit effeminate boys and ride – according to current Hollywood concepts, it is impossible to be just a character, because you need to be ideologically “right” character. This is what they gave her.
However, thank God, even though Autobots and Decepticons these modern ultragender and ethnic “cinema decency” do not concern.
The film can be recommended at least to kindergarteners: everything is cute and cute, until the usual chubby: the girl must urgently grow up and save the planet from enslavement by Decepticons.
There is no point in describing the plot - it is easy to predict. Negative and neutral characters are moderately stupid, and sometimes over the usual franchise dose.
Positive figures bring adventure to the mandatory happy ending.
The film made a decent living at home and in the world for a simple, clear reason: nice. In an old Soviet cartoon, the jester of a capricious princess described the process:
“We really like in this film that the proud beauty wants to get rid of the bad and finally correct herself.”
The girl Charlie in this film made friends with a mechanized damaged character, realizing girl’s dreams: not to pester with stupidity, but to show attention, participation, be sensitive to grievances and like to fool around.
In short, if you are an autobot and weigh about a ton, then even in this position you need to be light. It's not the mass, it's the character.
And then you'll be loved and saved. Well, at least they'll fix it as much as possible. . .
I'm not really a big fan of giant robot stories. Watching two soulless piles of scrap metal knocking gears out of each other has never been particularly interesting to me. However, ' Bumblebee' was able to arouse curiosity, the trailers looked promising, clearly differing in general tone from the main series ' Transformers'. So the spin-off about a yellow robot with a broken voice synthesizer was decided to give a chance - and this I did not lose.
The first thing that stands out 'Bumblebee' against the background of numbered parts 'Transformers' is the light bulb of what is happening. The film was not as large-scale as fans of the series are used to, but very soulful. The story focuses not so much on the dismantling of robots, but on specific characters, which are a young girl Charlie and Bumblebee himself, whose adventures we will watch. Charlie's relationship with the alien machine is almost the best part of the film, there is a certain chemistry between them, as much as possible between a girl and a giant robot.
In general, the work with the key characters is actually done excellent in this kind of blockbuster. Charlie gradually reveals herself to the viewer, first through trifles and details, and then telling Bumblebee about her life and a past she cannot let go of. If you think about it, Charlie is in principle the most interesting and written female character in the entire line of films.
With Bumblebee as a character, things are also good, but at first there is a kind of malpractice due to the use of the beaten cliché of amnesia. Bumblebee, after a fight with the desipticons, loses his memory, forgetting who (or what) he is. You might as well find fault with that, but damn it, Bumblebee was so cute. He gradually gets used to Charlie, which was partly shown in the trailers, and the girl helps him settle into the human world. That’s where most of the humor of the movie comes from. And of course, the giant robot is attached to his new Earth girlfriend, which will play a role in the course of the film.
What else is the action is, it is not bad, with a spectacular production, and since the film is not overloaded with a bunch of hardware and explosions, then watching the fights of robots was more interesting than usual. John Cena, I don't know why. But it is worth noting the great soundtrack, here and Runaway, and Never Gonna Give You Up, and Take On Me, and a bunch of other famous cult tracks.
Verdict: ' Bumblebee' showed that a film about giant robots can be interesting, just shift the emphasis from boring ' metal' action towards the characters. And it seems that there was already information that the same spin-offs, smaller and more soulful, are being prepared for work. If so, please be kind.
You know, there's Bay's Transformers movies, there's the original Transformers cartoon, and there's Travis Knight's Bumblebee. And the point is, Travis ended up doing neither the first nor the second and that's not bad! He made a local story about the Autobot, who overcomes his amnesia and all the difficulties that come his way, becomes what he was before amnesia - a good and brave war, which is really interesting to watch.
And, of course, I did a little bit of cunning at the beginning, because Travis didn't end up with a full-fledged Beyevschina or full-fledged Transformers, he did a better job of combining the best of both of these legendary epics. From Bay, he took a little pathos and epic with good jokes, and from the original took the atmosphere of the transformers of those years, which creates a beautiful synergy with the atmosphere of San Francisco of the eighties.
Also good is the synergy between Bumblebee and the main character of the picture, they both overcome their goals by the end of the film together and also both develop in character.
In general, if you want to watch the same cool action movie as Bay, then you will get it, it will be good, but the epic moments themselves will be extremely few. But if you want to watch a movie with a cool story and well-written characters, then you get it, and you get it completely.
At one time, honestly went to cinemas for ugly ' creations ' Michael Bay in hopes that he will make his films in the spirit and style of the good old cartoons of 1984-1989. They were standard and it was a lore, so if you already undertook to shoot - do as it was, and do not invent nonsense and shit.
But no, the main thing Bay was an action for the sake of action and Megan Fox for teenagers, and the plot, character, interesting adventures and musical accompaniment was not even secondary, but something completely insignificant.
And in 2018, after a terrible series with all sorts of knights, I did not go to the movies and did not watch Bumblebee at all until September 2020. I decided to watch.
These are the good old Transformers that everyone has been waiting for and wanting to see. The film has everything you need, made a film with a reverent attitude to the original animated series, without snatching and action with pathos. It’s like watching a 1986 movie. The main character has motivation, her cockroaches in her head, perfectly explainable, her actions are logical and, even if not always reasonable, but quite consistent with the situation when it is better to act on emotions than to be guided by reason and logic. There would be all sorts of feminists who have spoiled many films to watch - here you have a female character who does not cause any rejection and anger, completely normal and positive. The rest of the characters are also quite present and motivation, and their lines revealing them, and they are carefully and intelligently woven into the plot.
Bottom Line: The film for the 2000s is great if you take similar genres for all time - 65-70% of the Flight of the Navigator in 1986.
A yellow robot is like a bumblebee – it will be fun all day long.
“Transformers” for me long ago turned into a franchise that confidently and faithfully rolls downhill. Each part is consistently worse than the previous one. Bay seems to purposely, in response to the discontent of the audience and criticism, increases the amount of action and pathos and reduces the amount of soulfulness, sane dialogues and semantic component of the plot. But here comes out “Bumblebee” and the audience is delighted – everyone loves a cute transformer-bumblebee, and the film is quite chamber, there is no scale and pathos. But for some reason, this picture did not bribe me.
This story is a prequel. Everyone’s favorite transformer Bumblebee is saved from Cybertron and comes to Earth. Here he must prepare a bridgehead for the meeting of his comrades – the surviving Autobots, but he is noticed by the Deceptic patrol and of course attacks. As a result of the attack, Bumblebee loses his memory and turns into an old broken car. And so he would rot in a landfill, but by luck he is noticed by a teenage girl with a car and a small cart of problems and complexes. Together they will have to go through a lot of colorful adventures and become real friends.
The plot is not bad at first glance, but we have already seen Bumblebee's friendship with a teenager - in the first film. And that friendship was much brighter, and the adventures were more interesting. Sam had real teenage problems. The new heroine is most worried about the death of his father. She's too worried. The whole movie. It was supposed to be a light action comedy, not a drama with tragedy. Honestly, the mention of the father to the middle begins to turn. The rest of the problems are outright bullshit. Nobody cares about her, the conflicts are funny and not serious. What she didn’t like was the way Bee helped her take revenge on girls who, like, did something to her. And no punishment. It turns out that crashing a car for a joke in your address is cool and right. There are many lines leading to nowhere.
There is really less action, because of which the picture seriously sags in places, and the clashes with the Deceptecons are some childish, the scale is not serious. There are a lot of logical blunders. How could a schoolgirl fix an alien car if she couldn't start her own convertible? Plus, Bumblebee spits on its own canon. In Part 5, we were told that Bee took part in World War II, and here it turns out that he just got to Earth. Is that so? And the opening scene on Cybertron is horrific, as it shows the cowardly escape of a dozen Autobots. Is that really all that's left? It looks miserable and disappointing to the limit.
The film is praised for its soulfulness, but I could not see this very soulfulness. For me, the film is drawn and boring, all the time pulled yawning. I want to see old-fashioned Transformers with normal jokes, a whole plot and next to intelligent and interesting human characters. I hope that in the future there will be a sane restart, which will not try to speculate on emotions and nostalgia, but will simply be fit.

Thanks for everything, B, you became my first friend.
“Transformers: The Last Knight was the final film of the old franchise. He was terrible, wildly stupid and plot weak. The news of the restart didn’t give me much hope, but it left me with the hope of positive changes. The start of the new series decided to trust yourself, so the authors began with a spin-off about the Yellow Bee. What did they do? It turned out something good, because from the very first minutes my skeptical attitude began to change to pleasant surprise. Bumblebee is the only Transformer movie I really liked, but... what’s the big deal? Why is it worth watching?
The main change is the change of director. Michael Bay gave his chair to Travis Knight, for whom Bumblebee was the first film in his directorial career. The debut was successful because the film received positive reviews from critics.
A few more changes that turned the Hollywood blockbuster into a really worthwhile picture:
1. A real female character. In five parts, we were shown “models” with only their own appearance. I don't remember anything about them, but I remember Charlie because she's a simple young girl caught in an intergalactic robot conflict.
2. Developing characters as you progress through the story. Again, in the old franchise, the characters went on a rolled-out: here is the “poor thing” that the transformer saves, then she has no choice but to go with new iron friends, in the end they achieve their goal and the poor thing becomes happy, because life has improved. But why life was "bad" we were not told, just put before the fact. “Bee” was able to move away from this and show a dramatic character in the development: the death of his father was a shock for Charlie, after which she never recovered. In the beginning, we see an emotionless person who has lost faith in the world, but to the end, we see a completely different heroine: what she wants to live for has appeared. I watched Charlie's fate with excitement.
3. Humor. The jokes are ridiculous, but at the same time, seeing the embarrassment and awkwardness of the characters, are funny, why what happens on the screen seems more alive, soulful.
4. Change in special effects. Previously, there were only explosions, explosions and explosions, in the new picture the emphasis on hand-to-hand fights. Bumblebee is very worried about the safety of others, so he rarely uses a blaster, and in close combat he is not inferior to his opponents. It is worth noting that the fights are not bad: the graphics are smooth and the dynamics of the change of frames does not cut your eyes.
5. Soundtracks. Music has always played a key role in filmmaking: it must fit the style of the film, should always sound at the right time and should serve the director as a faithful assistant. The indie classic in the spin-off perfectly copes with all three points, amplifying the plot.
As a result, if the trend of subsequent films (of which as many as four are planned) will be similar to Bumblebee, then the franchise has a chance for a successful future.
I just want to say, ‘Travis Knight, you’ve turned a broken record into something new and really interesting, thank you.’ I suggest everyone watch.
After reviewing this film, I never expected to see so much negativity. And not such a movie, not such a movie, and it's not Transformers, and there's no mega-action and busty ladies, and in general, why did this shoot, and so on and so forth. Perhaps for those who were looking for this in the spin-off about Bumblebee, it was really not worth watching the picture.
“Bumblebee” is a cute touching film about the most cute and touching transformer. It's a fairy tale. A film about kindness, friendship, and how the cutest and most charming creature can turn into a warrior when someone threatens those he cares about. On this spin-off, you can safely take children - they will like the story itself, and the main character, who in the meantime will lay the right moral guidelines in the child.
The film is bright, colorful, cheerful and good-natured. Action is also present there, but not on the same scale as fans of the Transformers saga are used to. Maybe for someone this is a minus, for me it is more a plus, because the film was soulful and memorable. The saga itself I once appreciated quite highly, it also has a true message to the viewer, but these films are still more about special effects. "Bumblebee" is somewhat out of the overall story, although it retains the main elements inherent in the saga. And that doesn't spoil it at all.
Fantastic cinema universe ' Transformers' created by the efforts of the production center ' Bay Films' and Michael Bay himself directly, constantly brought the most important by modern standards result - commercial benefit, because really bottomless is the cup with viewers who are so despondent for action spectacle and large-scale special effects. And the box office of Bay studio invariably replenished even despite the fact that some parts of the Transformers' were included in the main shortlist of the anti-awards ' Golden Raspberry'. Of course, few people care about plastic products awarded for dubious achievements in the world of cinema, when the treasury is replenished with millions of dollars, but still some unpleasant residue remains. Perhaps that’s why Michael Bay decided to slow down the release of Transformers', but the movie universe did not close, deciding to sponsor a spin-off about the audience’s favorite – Bumblebee Autobot.
The story of the yellow transformer begins with the fact that on his home planet there is a decisive battle, where the race of autobots gradually fails. Bumblebee appears somewhere in the middle of the battle and instantly plunges into the thick of it, but on the orders of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee goes to our mortal planet to build a base for the Autobots. But after Bumblebee, the Decepticon is sent - a representative of the hostile Transformer race and in the fight Bumblebee is on the verge of death, besides the military here as here, and he needs to protect them from the merciless Decepticon ... In general, after a lost fight, Bumblebee’s worldview changes and he becomes like a small child and here he meets a teenager named Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), who dreamed of her own car. Only she did not know who the yellow will actually be 'Volkswagen K?fer' and what adventures (most often deadly) she will have to go through together with a newfound friend-representative of extraterrestrial intelligence.
To breathe a new trend in the cinematic universe was called Travis Knight, who had not previously been seen with work in a full-length feature film, achieving good results in the production field in animation, where two tapes (' Family of Monsters' and 'Kubo). The legend of the samurai' received nominations for 'Oscar'. But a particularly successful debut at Knight & #39; Bumblebee' not called. Among the obvious negative aspects of the project is its excessive childishness. Of course, it is absolutely clear to everyone that a separate film about a yellow transformer was shot with a view to a children's and youthful audience, but the scale and thunderous action few people will be surprised, such tapes are released a month in a couple of pieces, so that ' Bumblebee' faced serious competition. The film justified itself at the box office, did not receive antinominations on ' Golden Raspberry', except for the inspiring ' For the restoration of reputation' but more than a one-time winter hit, the film did not become too recognizable and did not cause a special fountain of emotions, even the same special effects that became an integral part of the franchise did not stand out for an innovative approach, and the dramatic line was clearly erased against the background of visualism.
Another person called for the renewal of the franchise and its resuscitation was a young talented actress Hayley Steinfeld, known for shooting in ' Iron Arm' and the two final parts of the trilogy ' Perfect Voice'. We can say that twenty-year-old Steinfeld successfully fit into the concept of the cinematic universe ' Transformers' but brilliant and memorable her game can not be called at the same time. Not bad - this is probably the most correct expression about the game Steinfeld in ' Bumblebee'. Other young actors - Jorge Landeborg Jr. and Jason Drucker were not lost against the background of the more experienced and famous Steinfeld, so you can even say that the trio they turned out expressive, but it is unlikely that anyone will applaud standing up. And yet it was time to talk about the most negative side of the film - again, I will say that Bumblebee became the audience's favorite, especially he was remembered for using cutting words and phrases from the radio, losing the ability to talk in battle. Not to say that Bumblebee was bad in a single film, but clearly wanted something more than the funny moments when the transformer thought like a child and hid behind a stone several times smaller than him and tore apart half the house. It’s fun, but somehow trivial and quite childish.
In general, 'Bumblebee' hardly pulls to be viewed several times. This is more of a one-off hit, created with two goals - to replenish the box office of the film studio and expand, complement and develop the movie universe & #39; Transformers' but the results were hardly as hoped, so there are certain doubts about the appearance of the sequel. And once again it is worth noting that ' Bumblebee' was shot in the count on a children's and youth audience and it is she who can still perceive the film with some enthusiasm, while others will be quite skeptical of it.
I’m sure everyone will agree with me that it’s nice to watch feature films based on cartoons. In addition to preserving the style, there should be a design solution inherent in modern cinema. Make it look realistic. And for this you need to put a lot of effort and imagination to achieve an amazing result.
'Bumblebee' – proof that Travis Knight successfully brought the animated atmosphere 'G1' to the cinema. In addition, throughout the work, you can see that the director grew up on cartoons and toys, and made it possible to watch again and again. Compared to Michael Bay, Knight not only reincarnated cinematic robots, but also tried to consider teenage problems, what relationships they have and between whom; as well as difficult periods of growing up with logic. However, this film cannot do without special effects. They're Transformers! But Travis, at the same time, does not overdo it with explosions, shootings and even robot fights. Speaking of robots, it was nice to see Bumblebee in an alternative form, which featured ' Volkswagen Beetle'. The creators were not afraid of the occasion when we can compare with another ' Beetle' from the Disney film. This comparison has no meaning and no meaning at all. In addition to Bumblebee, the director did not forget to add at least one of the leaders: Optimus Prime, despite the fact that his role in this film is episodic, and his appearance is as recognizable as that of the right hand leader of the Autobots. If there were no Optimus, then it would be difficult to understand the plot and its meaning. Because, first of all, it is necessary to think about the goals and tasks of the main character of the picture; to understand why he came to Earth; what was hidden in the memory, part of which was lost and what you need to go through to restore it. And without another and beloved hero, it is impossible to go through all this. Even if the central detail is a girl and a robot.
It is worth paying attention to the beginning of the film. The planet Cybertron and the battle on it between the Autobots and the Decepticons were presented. And all this is computer graphics, not a cartoon, as some viewers say. That's a big difference! Moreover, all transformers are also taken from the animated series of the same name. And although their appearance is familiar, it is clear that the specialists tried to make it possible to understand that this is a movie, and not stupidly transferred cartoons to wide screens. Honestly, I still don't know how they brought it to the screen. How they were able to make movie transformers on a computer so they could transform them. It’s as if the creators weren’t working, they were playing with them. In a certain sense, it is. The entire crew, including computer graphics specialists, are fans of the animated series 'Transformers' and even as children they had toys with which they played almost constantly. Now time has changed, toys have become not easy fun, but also exciting work for adults. Excellent!
In the end, I want to say that it was not in vain that Michael Bay gave the director's chair to Travis Knight and became the producer of the film ' Bumblebee'. Not only was Bay not a fan of transformers, he also managed to add extra details (devoting most of his time to military personnel and their equipment; adding a huge amount of special effects, especially in battle scenes; the presence of various vulgarities, etc.). Moreover, he periodically said that he would not shoot a sequel, but actually worked as a director, putting an end to the 5th part & #39;...The Last Knight & #39;. As for Knight, for him, it was an experiment to move the G1 franchise, which, on my part, proved successful. The truth remains to be seen. A sequel to the yellow Autobot? Next solo about another transformer? Or the continuation of Part 5? Unfortunately, it remains a mystery. However, I have no doubt that in the future the new director will do more than it seems.

I really like the first Transformers trilogy. Yes, there is not some outstanding plot and there are enough joints in it. However, there are a number of important advantages. 1 and the best part, the killer action from the master, the chic design of transformers, the story of the growing up of a teenager (from his school years, to finding a job and his place in this world), his parents, who, with all the absurdity of their behavior, were well remembered.
The fourth part crossed out most of these points, however, despite the obvious overkill of action, remains through the power of watchable (mainly thanks to the chic Stanley Tucci). Part 5 turned into an absolute mess, forever destroying the original lore of the franchise.
So, Bumblebee is a reboot of the whole series. New design, new story, new director. What could go wrong? That's it.
For me, this movie buried the franchise in a place it will never get out of.
1. Design. The authors decided to return to the original design from the early cartoons. Yes, it hits nostalgia, but, at the same time, makes everything happening some kind of toy (especially it touched the Decepticons.)
2. Jokes. Yes, they were also not good, and often spoiled awesome moments, but a number of them are well remembered, regardless of the age of the viewer. But here... The 6+ speaks for itself. The jokes are terribly bland and now I probably can not remember any of them.
3. The banal story of the friendship of an alien and a girl, which turned out to be maximally unrealistically filed (unlike the first part of the franchise, where this friendship began essentially from the need for information that was kept by Sam, and only later, he really won the respect of the Autobots.)
4. Scene on the Cybertron. My eyes just flowed from such a counton.
From the positive.
Still good graphics for the budget that was allocated to the film. The game of the main character (I doubted her most, but she did not disappoint). The final link to Part 1.
The franchise “Transformers” is experiencing far from the best times. It is the fifth year that the fourth part, marked by the “Era of Extermination”, came out on the cinema screens. Not to say that the original trilogy was famous for its stable quality, but at least it showed an adequate level of script (practically), there was a line that filtered the necessary aspects of a good movie (up to the third Transformers). The only thing that surprised me from year to year was the timeline, which destroyed the consistency and logic of what was happening. Each film violated the laws of the previous one, refuting the conclusions of one of the characters. The fourth and fifth, of course, did not draw the conclusions of their predecessors and continued to sin with these stupid mistakes. Not helped the franchise and Akiva Goldsman, designed specifically to combine all the pictures together and create a new script, with a perspective on the future, which will be able to repel further films, without stupid and not matched script problems.
“Bumblebee” is one of several decisions in the plan of Paramount Pictures, aimed at finding out whether the viewer will accept the “new”. Transformers. So you understand, the "new" here is a pretext. Of the new in the franchise, only the director, who immediately decided to redesign the shape of the robots and return them to the nostalgic look of the eighties, in which they were presented in cartoons. “Bumblebee” is considered by many to be a restart of the series, largely due to the change of director, which was Travis Knight, who had not previously held posts in such ambitious and large-scale films. Although at the same time, on account of some very good cartoons: “Kubo”. The Legend of the Samurai, The Monster Family and Paranormal, or How to Train a Zombies. It is worth saying that under the task set before the spin-off, Travis fit perfectly. If anyone does not know, the director needed to rejuvenate the audience, although it would seem much more rejuvenate, and show the public what would happen if there was another director at the helm. Travis, a young and ambitious director who previously directed high-quality cartoons, is hired to shoot almost the same task - to please the younger generation. Isn't it ideal to continue your career? Both for the studio and Knight himself.
Bumblebee is an amateur movie, I have to admit it. It does not have the zest that was in the first "Transformers", forcing to revise the original. Or there isn’t the silly yet hilarious absurdity of the original sequel. As it is customary to say about the cinema of this standard - "Bumblebee" is a one-time picture necessary to increase the outlook on the subject of this universe in case the work of Travis Knight really becomes part of the reboot. Don’t think that including a solo about the cutest Autobot, you’ll get some new emotional boost and see something you haven’t seen before in the franchise. No, none of this will happen. Unfortunately, the series outlived itself even at the "Age of Extermination", when we were given an ordinary set of special effects for almost three hours under the pretext of the film, and two years later they tried to sniff out the "meaningful" and "refresh" part of "The Last Knight". It is clear that Knight was called upon to give the Transformers a fresh breath, but the inexperienced director failed to do so, even if he tried. For the efforts - respect, but even this did not pull out of the solo nothing extraordinary.
Why? Why? Let's try to figure it out.
We all know where we started with the Transformers. Six autobots fell on American lands straight from space, joining the observer of this planet, a kind of “protector”. Bumblebee is an epic start, isn't it? Really. But the truth is different. What exactly - you will see in the film, there it is well told, but after listening to this story wildly strives to tell the writer only one thing: "Well, again, is it?" It’s about a timeline that’s been lost again, events are forgotten, and logic hasn’t been around since the start of the franchise. What about what's going on in the picture? Actually, nothing. After all, in this regard, the writer was able to show more of what was shown (tautology, sorry) than something definitely new. The only thing you can add to Christine Hodson - the debutant of the spin-off in the franchise appeared in a completely different role than the viewer saw him in the original part.
Do you remember what B was like in the original? I'm sure so. In the solo film, the robot appears as a child in iron skin, who really got out of the house and does not know what to do and how to do it. It looks, to put it mildly, not very good. "Mistress" of the car Charlie Watson (Hailee Steinfield) - like a nanny, showing all the charms of the planet "Earth", trying to get obscured in the course of the film not without the help of his faithful iron friend. And the fool understands that there must have been some friendly chemistry between the two characters, but... it got involved to some extent, but it was shown too badly. On the one hand, everything looks really nice and nice, but on the other hand, it is not the level of a movie like Bumblebee. It was clear that first of all, the picture is focused on a children’s audience (the solo and did want to rejuvenate it, although, I ask, much younger?), but, sorry, this is not a cartoon and something similar we have already seen in the first part, and in the second. Why else? I don’t think there is an answer to that.
From a chronological point of view, Bumblebee is more or less. Practically, there is a retelling of the chronology of the first Transformers, except when Optimus and company arrive on Earth. This is replaced by a more similar piece. But in general, we see the same sequence, which from time to time is reinforced by good action scenes, not suitable for the series. At least here you can see that Travis changed the concept of staging such scenes. Let them change a little, but the replacement is seen well - this is already a plus. A small “respect” is also the appearance of transformers. This was mentioned above, but it is worth mentioning again. Michael Bay and Disney went to the reformation in the fourth part, and they were a little surprised. The design of robots from the 80s looks nice, but only in this series. “Would they look so good in the main part?” is a question worthy of attention.
The verdict. Bumblebee is a movie that deserves to be seen at least once. You will not see anything fascinating here, as sometimes fascinated moments in the original. Of course, there is no such scale of action as in the sequel and trilogy. Fortunately, Bumblebee doesn’t have to be that way. The solo turned out to be sweet and kind, as it was intended to be and makes you smile in a couple of moments. These are great qualities for the film and it doesn’t lose them all the time. That's why it's worth watching.
Somewhere far away, on Cybertron, there is a long-awaited story about the Autobots and the Decepticons. Almost no one hears Optimus Prime’s pathetic speeches about saving the world. In 1987 and 18-year-old Charlie Watson (Haley Steinfield) on his birthday meets a cute alien buzzing “bee”. Their friendship helps Charlie to believe in himself and along the way saves the Earth from the invasion of “evil iron”... temporarily.
And all thanks to the fact that the director Travis Knight listened to the words of Steven Spielberg. He allowed Michael Bay to edit the first 15 minutes of the film and put in some spectacular fights. Then he turned on Alien, put on good music and started creating. Travis shifted his focus from soulless battles to the touching relationship of a lonely teenager and a wounded alien guest. The latter lost his memory and voice, and his new girlfriend can not find himself after the death of his father.
And from this naive fantastic story blows some warmth. Funny scenes of games by the ocean, cuddles with Bumblebee, a strange younger brother, even a funny black neighbor - all this creates a family atmosphere of the film. The lens more often get the attributes of the 80s - recognizable posters, computer games, than a couple of harsh Decepticons. The latter are quickly forgotten under the well-chosen soundtrack of the tape, which is full of hits Bon Jovi, Duran Duran, Steve Winwood.
And don't lose sight of the lively stereotypical heroes of the school hangout. They add to the picture of the era, along with a fitting irony over Cold War fears. By the way, humor in the film does not fall below the belt, and amused a cohort of children of 10 years in the hall. Older fans, I am sure, appreciated the fragment from the film “Breakfast Club”.
And although the film is full of plot illogicalities, still turned out a nice fantastic movie for family viewing. Bumblebee, of course, does not reach the cult “E.T.”, but is able to catch sentimental notes. Try to evaluate even those who have not seen any part of the Transformers.

Well, this film will be interesting only to fans of the film series Transformers, perhaps. I am not, but I could not miss such a big movie.
Absolutely nothing interesting and fascinating in the picture was not, almost a copy of the first part. One exception, but a very significant one is the lack of intrigue. It's clear in advance how it ends. Yes, it's a kind of prequel to the series, telling the story of the yellow car from the first part. But I couldn’t be interested in the film at all.
If it were a film of its own, it would be good. But knowing the whole future story by chronology, watching the events of this film is boring and uninteresting. In addition, compared to the first films, this one turned out to be more childish and naive.
I was kind of bored watching. After all, such direct action in the film is not enough. All right, all sorts of bush-talk, talk, experience. It was exhausting, I wanted a slaughterhouse of the caliber of the original trilogy. However, it did not work out and I watched the adventures of a couple of teenagers for almost 2 hours, which did not cause much interest.
The actors played well, but this kind of “childish” comedy bias annoyed me, and with it, the curvature of the actors, too. Especially infuriated John Cena and the scene with the tribute of Bumblebee. Stupid and stupid. I'm not talking about the others, nothing special.
In general, the main idea about the look-do not look I expressed in the first paragraph. Fans of the Autobots and Decepticons should see it, the rest can safely walk past and not waste time on this extremely mediocre spectacle, both in game and in plot terms. Too simple movie and, in my opinion, not very necessary prequel.

It’s no secret what an unenviable situation the Transformers franchise has found itself in. Started by Michael Bay in 2007, the franchise slowly began to outlive itself. As a result, the last part of the franchise showed modest box office and was destroyed by harsh criticism of both professional critics and ordinary viewers. Thus, forcing the authors of the franchise to look at the eminent franchise under a different gaze and we can say that the director of this film Travis Knight definitely succeeded.
The events of this tape develop in the distant 1987. After the defeat on the planet Cybertron, Bumblebee and other Autobots leave their home planet. Once on the ground, Bumblebee encounters the military, as a result, receives damage to the voice module and memory, and also with difficulty "takes his feet" by copying the appearance of an old Volkswagen Beetle. After a while, Charlie finds the car. Even without realizing that she got not just a rare car.
If the basis of all the previous parts was the fight for the survival of mankind, the basis of this tape was the friendship between a young girl and an alien robot and such a sharp change in the vector of events certainly went to the benefit of the picture. At first glance, the picture is eagerly repeated after the original film of 2007. Again telling the story of a young hero and his car, as well as a much more local confrontation between Autobots and Transformers than a large-scale war for humanity. Along the way, borrowing easily visible elements from Steven Spielberg's Alien and Brad Bird's Steel Giant. However, all this turns out to be hasty and I do not want to accuse the picture of secondaryness at all.
The main advantage of this tape can be safely called an excellent study and disclosure of the characters of the main characters of the tape. As if Charlie lost her father, as if Bumblebee is hiding in fear from his opponents - each of them turned out to be as alive as possible and the personal drama of each of them certainly finds a way to the heart of the audience when watching this tape. Moreover, willingly impressing and how much each of the characters changes as a result of the newfound friendship and adventures of this tape. Charlie finds solace in his heartache and strength to move on. When Bumblebee transforms from a slightly insecure robot into the bravest and most powerful warrior we know him.
What is embarrassing is the uncertainty of this film in the context of its role in the franchise. On the one hand, it is a full-fledged prequel to the events of Michael Bay’s petalology. On the other hand, it is absolutely contrary to the canonical events of the previous parts, like a soft restart. Willfully ignoring Bumblebee's involvement in the battles with the Nazis in World War II and ending with how and when Optimus Prime, along with other Autobots, lands on the ground.
After the magnificent in all respects “Kubo”, the director of this film “Travis Knight” has once again established himself in the position of a promising and talented director with a very authorial approach to drama in commercial cinema and also proved himself well in his first feature film. The appointment of Travis Knight as director of this film certainly made the picture deeper, more mature and even more intimate. Very decently developing on the screen the dramatic layer of the picture, which willingly plays on the strings of the soul throughout the film absolutely everyone. Starting with a very warm visualization and ending with how lamp and chamber turned out this tape.
Unless, such an approach to the retelling of events significantly affected the spectacular component of the picture. Spectacles in the picture were smaller not only in comparison with the previous parts, but also ordinary pop-corn tapes. The action scenes were too sterile and without the expected wow effect.
Separately, I want to note the complete transformation of Transformers on the screen. Full detail of each car detail and the screw of the Trasformers from the pentalogy of Michael Bay remained in the past, and the Transformers themselves acquired on the screen an absolutely minimalist and canonical look of the sample of the original cartoons. Thus, not only pouring fresh blood into the franchise, but also paying homage to the original cartoons. Perfectly displaying the latest and juicy introduction to the war on Cybertron, the like of which fans of the franchise have been begging its authors for many years and necessarily within the framework of a full-length and full-fledged film.
Haley Steinfeld performed well on the screen. Despite the fact that in some places the personal drama and motivation of the main character’s behavior seems far-fetched, the actress puts her best on the screen and very convincingly creates a very lively and real image of a real person on the screen. The same can be said about Bumblebee, which, being the fruit of the works of visual effects masters, turned out and feels absolutely alive and real. It's like you can reach and touch it. Unfortunately, with the exception of the two main characters, the rest do not want to be remembered positively. The family of the main character turned out to be hypertrophied fake and the actors play accordingly. The main villains in the person of Shatter and Dropkik turned out to be absolutely cardboard, and the game John Cena looks extremely lousy even in the image of a stingy emotion and a typical stupid soldier.

Bumblebee is a fresh and most unexpected look at the continuation of the franchise that has not changed. Instead of a testosterone action movie with an abundance of fervent spectacle and epic scale, presenting on the screen a very deep, mature, chamber and lamp film made in warm tones and emotions. Disappointing only a modest number of action scenes and their "not spectacular" production. If you do not take into account this, then the course for the future is taken well and I want to wish him good luck.
A prequel without Michael Bay (still a producer) was supposed to breathe new life into the franchise, after Golden Raspberry, after the failure, director Travis Knight, specializing in cartoons, decided to show us a funny story, revive a good name for Transformers. I.. only the main character came out good.
This is a prequel to the entire franchise, at the same time a spin-off about “Bumblebee”-transformer, and it begins with plot blunders regarding the Autobots. Okay, no worries, the X-Men can’t beat them. Good action on Cybertron goes to our planet. Good conflict, great robot fights and... HIS NAME IS JOHN CENA!! The answer to the main question, how Bumblebee lost his voice, is appropriately shown, showing a funny detail. In the Russian voiceover, the autobot is voiced by rapper L’One, so he says “bumblebee” for the first 5 minutes of the film. "Black Star" trolling.
The drama of the film perfectly shows the classic appearance of aliens on Earth. According to patterns of misunderstanding, aggression and hunting, the plot accompanies us to a cute transformation into Volkswagen (Beetle). At this, the pleasant moments of the film are interrupted, as we are shown the main female character. And it's stupid.
Once again, drama is brought into our eyes to empathize with the heroines, but a loyal attitude interrupts her behavior. The complex family story associated with the absence of one of the blood relatives makes the girl a stupid creature, which is why after some dialogues I caught face palm, there was a wild desire to turn off the film, because this behavior is not a teenager in a difficult situation, it is selfishness, tantrums and stupid remarks.
Making conflict situations out of thin air, demonstrating your stupidity, is not an option. The girl slides down, you feel sorry for her family, in which the daughter is a “white crow”, because you understand the adult characters, you understand the difficult financial situation, the characters adequately describe their situation, only the bziki girls knock you out of the way. She acts like the whole world owes her.
Getting to know Bumblebee looks fun. So we have a great robot hero and a stupid human hero. According to the patterns, which there are more than it may seem at first glance, there is also a melodrama with a boy, well, this is to dilute the plot. It’s a joy to see a girl (a stupid girl, man) interact with an autobot, trying to understand him, and pouring all her inner anxiety, loss, on him. While she interacts with Volkswagen, it is like a different movie, kind and soulful. The robot is represented by a child who has strength, volume and mass (the kid on the mass, Misha Mavashi), is not aware of his awkwardness, is afraid to break something and gives very funny episodes.
The main character’s decisions standardly put her against envious people, attributing internal trauma and the desire to stand up for herself. That's not bad. You get used to the human and the robot as a tandem. Secondary HIS NAME IS JOHN CENA demonstrates a "stone" game, as he can only shine in the ring. But it's okay, Dwayne Johnson started out like that, too. Closer to the end, when you have already placed the characters on the level of adequacy, you are surprised. The stupid moment of chasing and trying to block the way at an intersection amid the oncoming traffic, with your wife and child in the car. It's fucking crazy.
The finale, as it should, makes you cry, but it is not. Because errors in the main universe, disregard for time periods, if you remember the participation of the “bumblebee” in World War II and its appearance in the first “Transformers”. In general, everything is bad by chronology, everything is bad by scanning (untimely) cars, everything is bad by the motivation of the main character and her behavior, but there are advantages that equalize the scales: Bumblebee is a cute, such a kitten that you want to squeeze - everything, but he is the main character, therefore, equality.
“Since my father died, I feel like everyone is doing well except me.”
Bumblebee is a family movie by all canons. The main character of a teenage girl lost her father, now the mother is trying to build a stepfather into the family and establish her own life. The youngest son is too young to suffer the loss of his father. The social situation of the family is such that you do not walk much. And here in history jumps Bumblebee - a young transformer who does not really understand how the world works and what is possible and what is impossible.
Actress Haley Steinfeld (her name is difficult to remember, and not easy to say, but she will have to remember - she is a rising Hollywood star), we know from the film of the Coen brothers "Iron Armstroke", where she grabbed an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress, although she was still 15 years old. At the Coens on the set she had to compete with Hollywood actors mastodons, and here - the whole field of her, no one claims. She was not just given a joint work in the frame with Bumblebee, to work with what is not difficult, and her excessive efforts can be noticed, but everything about the existence without CGI in the frame does not cause any questions for her. It’s really interesting to watch her play.
What can not be said about the well-known (much less well-known in Russia for obvious reasons) wrestler - Jne Sina. If you look closely at the movie, it will become noticeable that something in its history is missing, there is a suspicion that the script was more of his character, but the final editing of good takes was not enough and that the acting did not roll the film his screen time is very much cleaned up. Some scenes are thrown outright - you know what happened to the plot? Let's cut it down here, we don't need his grades. But it is also for the best - it directly smells of pathos from it, which cannot be said about Hayley Steinfeld.
Old cheekbones. Now the 80s and 90s are very popular: this is “it” by Stephen King and “very strange things” and now the spin-off (almost restart) of Bumblebee transformers is also far in the past. But this is not the whim of the director and not the nostalgia of the producer. This is a family movie: children under 12 will show explosions and robots, teenagers will show the main character and her problems, give her a super friend who understands everything, but can not say. What about the parents? What do you watch for an hour and a half in the movies? We will give them the opportunity to show their children their childhood. Let them talk about old cars and how they had to rewind the tape. For parents, we will make another hero of the movie Time. Their time.
After “Transformers” left the cinema world in catatonic delight in 2007, it was time for a lush slop: each sequel was worse than the previous one. Michael Bay left the director's chair and decided to settle for the title of one of the countless producers and, so to speak, give way to the young to bring new ideas to the skewed franchise. To say that Bumblebee is a breath of fresh air or an entertaining achievement of modern cinema is simply absurd. This is probably just the first Transformers movie that really has a soul. However, in some ways, Bumblebee is a huge step backwards for the franchise, still dependent on uninteresting visual and plot decisions, apparently dictated by focus groups.
It starts out quite intriguing. It’s 1987 and Charlie wants a car as a gift. She hopes it will close the hole in her heart after her father died. Yes, she stumbles upon an old Volkswagen Beetle, which turned out to be an alien robot. Bumblebee is a soldier from an intergalactic conflict between the good Autobots (of which he is a member) and the evil Decepticons. The U.S. military knows the basics of the conflict and also hunts robots. Charlie and her retarded neighbor Memo must protect Bumblebee, who has lost his memory.
If you feel like you’ve seen it before, yes: it’s a repeat of the 2007 Transformers formula. In this light, it is interesting to think that the original sin of the series may not be Bay, but the producers or the audience themselves. Bumblebee is a boring but competently made film that immediately catches the eye of both fan service ideology and tortured sterility. Fans clearly always wanted to see the classic design of their favorite characters on the screen, and Bumblebee satisfies that desire to some extent. Pop songs and 80s hits on the soundtrack also add fuel to the fire. Charlie's cute main character? Her relationship with the robot, of course, makes a significant contribution and adjusts to a tender mood. At the same time, none of the above elements leave an imprint on the project.
However, Bumblebee represents a notable point in the tired series. The choice of Haley Steinfeld for the lead role was a good impetus for the atmosphere built due to the soundtrack, scenery, costumes, as well as some common elements like rich and glamorous classmates. The actress also has good chemistry with Pamela Adlon as a well-meaning mother, and Steven Schneider as a dumb stepfather. And the scenes with Bumblebee succeeded best: both characters stand each other, and the production team correctly caught the essence associated with the large size of the yellow robot and its meek disposition.
On the other hand, while Bay's films have enjoyed rudeness and insistent noisy fights, Bumblebee's narrative is somewhat restrained. Moderation in the presentation of material to some extent promotes the plot component, albeit banal, to the fore. In addition, “Bumblebee” continues the pro-war ideology of the series, but in a more condemning way: John Cena, who plays a kind of military leader who runs some mysterious government agency, insists on aggressive actions, but still undergoes some evolution.
By the time you see Bumblebee, you can see all the typical story rhythms you would expect from a Transformers movie, the movie is probably almost over. "Bumblebee" may have thought-out characters and cute scenes, but it is still no different from the ordinary film gum, which is only a half-measure for the revival of a stylistically still franchise.
You can't shit so much into people's brains! I haven’t seen a movie in over a year, thanks to the show. I thought I'd pick something 'pop'. I expected something like that, but not in the third degree. From the first seconds I thought that they were having sex with my brain, at the same time covering it with poop.
Civilization on another planet took a different path of development, a technical one. But they use audio data transmission to communicate with each other. And to somehow increase the bandwidth of data transmission, just like people complement the sound, facial expressions on the face! Moreover, they use American language. It seems to me that it is more efficient to let (publish) a single sound, in which a lot of information is encrypted at different frequencies, and not to resort to an additional channel for transmitting information. Or to show a picture where color, shape, relief, maybe even temperature can convey a lot of information. But it's too easy! They're not looking for easy ways.
Everything. The damaged robot moves like a wounded person in the stomach. Their various forms are very similar to the technique of the planet earth, and they themselves are human-like. Why do they have 5 fingers on their limbs? Actually, why do they have a brush? This is not effective for me.
In general, watch only those who are under 12 years old and live in fairy tales that are customary to feed children.
Children of the eighties broke into filmmaking and can not contain nostalgia for those times. This means that films with the appropriate aesthetic will fight for our attention for a long time. However, I do not mind taking at least a new picture of the stalled franchise.
Cybertron destroyed by Decepticons. The much-loved yellow robot sets out to find a new base of resistance and finds itself on Earth for the first time. However, Bumblebee (even interestingly, what exactly Dylan O'Brien voiced) was severely battered in battle, so he is scared, broken, suffers from amnesia and hides in the old 'bug'. It is this machine with latent advantages that the main character gets for her birthday.
If at the word 'transformers' your eyes are covered by the veil of explosions of all stripes, against which giant machines cut each other apart, I hasten to disappoint. In this film, Mile Bay acted only as a producer, but in the director's chair was Travis Knight, responsible for the beautiful cartoon 'Cubo. The Legend of the Samurai & #39 The change of team led to the fact that special effects and fights are no longer impressive. In terms of ingenuity and believability, they are more like fussing with toy cars in the nursery. Transformers are toys, though.
But in the film there is, I am not afraid of this word, soulfulness. The plot is largely a story of growing up, accepting oneself and getting to know the unknown. By establishing contact with a representative of a different kind, the heroine (promising Haley Steinfeld) gains confidence in her own abilities and resets her relationship with the adult world. In this ' Bumblebee' much closer to the conventional 'E.T.' than any of the previous films of his series.
And yes, we know how it ends as soon as we see the beginning. Turns have been known since the days of videotapes. All that hide-and-seek in the garage and dumb government agents, an annoying boyfriend and mocking classmates, abandoned diving classes and sudden driving skills, defibrillator rescue and an expiring timer of villains. However, what is happening fascinates and makes you forget about the surrounding worries. Including, given a decent portion of humor and music so good that it seems annoying. And if creating a comfortable illusion remains one of the main charms of cinema, then why not use it on this film.

To be honest, I do not belong to the fans of the series of films "Transformers", I like this universe, I really loved cartoons about huge robots as a child. But the franchise led by Michael Bay does not attract me at all, and therefore there were no special hopes for this spin-off. However, this is the rare case when you do not expect anything from the film, and it pleasantly surprises. The picture received recognition and good reviews from film critics, and also successfully passed at the box office. This is what Transformers movies should be.
Director Travis Knight managed to breathe new life into the story of alien robots and make a good family movie. This is a film that tries to stay away from the large-scale, but stupid attractions of its predecessors. However, it maintains a forced relationship with them. This is a prequel to the entire story of the appearance of Transformers on Earth, at the same time the picture is a restart and if all goes well, then you can expect a global reboot of the entire franchise. This is adventure fiction in the spirit of the 1980s. The nostalgic message here is in the first place and the authors do not hide this at all.
The tape openly imitates such cult works of family fiction as "Alien" Stephen Spielberg and "Steel Giant" Brad Bird. It uses their plot structure and artistic techniques. The picture evokes nostalgia for the wonderful and warm 1980s, there are a huge number of references to cult works of the time, which are scattered throughout the film. Here are the characters eating cereal, on the box of which Mr. T is depicted, and here they are watching on TV "Alpha", and here are the posters for "Something" and "Indiana Jones", hung on the walls. All these details create a lamp atmosphere and contribute to the full immersion of the viewer. Special mention deserves musical accompaniment, which plays one of the leading roles in the narrative. Wonderful songs of the band The Smiths, the legendary composition "Take On Me" of the band a-ha. But most of all, I remember the scene when Bumblebee was given to listen to the song "Never Gonna Give You Up" Rick Astley, I almost fell out of my chair from laughing. The humour in the tape is just great.
There are few action scenes, and they are only needed as an addition to the main story. The director does not bet on them, in fact, he is not even interested in them. In fact, I would rather not have them at all. The dramaturgy comes to the fore, it is easy and standard, but contributes to the concern for the main characters. This is a good-natured story about friendship, love and mutual help. Bumblebee himself looks more human than the characters from the main series. He is funny and touching, like a child.
Haley Steinfeld plays a teenage girl with her life problems. Her character is typical of such tapes. Difficult relationships with family, inability to communicate with peers and general isolation. Friendship with a cute robot helps her cope with problems and get new motivation in life. This is a necessary genre technique that is ideal for this plot design. But John Cena the whole film goes with a stone face and noticeably loses in the acting game even the dog of the main character.
Bumblebee is an atmospheric, touching, kind and lamp film, which is both fascinating adventure fiction, and inventive family comedy, and even drama. The picture allows you not only to learn the history of the most beloved autobot, but also to immerse yourself in the amazing world of the 1980s, the best period of world cinema. The tape made an exceptionally pleasant impression and gave a lot of positive emotions. I definitely recommend it.
The new drawing returns to Transformers cartoons – less realism, less brutality, more compliments to younger audiences. The heroine is rather in vain 18 years old, the film is clearly designed for a viewer of the age of her screen brother, who can only scream ' Maaamaa!' And what are the chocks of some transparent saliva, into which a person breaks up - they tried their best on the rating of 6+, because if he was higher, no one came to this film. A girl and a guy can't even hold a hand, lol. Think of Megan Fox and cry.
The pace of the film, after overcoming the awkwardness of the first 20-30 minutes, which stretched the family drama of the heroine, more or less accelerates, but still does not get out of children's pants, I want to give the gas, but, hey, this car goes by itself, under strict supervision. In the plot everything is absolutely predictable, really, could not at least a little mince to turn?
What did you like?
- Soundtracks 80-90, retro, should go to parents who will come to this film to yawn with the child,
- Scenes with the battle of transformers behind the back of the main character,
- Smooth transformation effects,
- Charismatic Bumblebee,
- Not bad actors in the main roles, chained by the limitations of the script.
What I didn't like:
Plane plot for a total baby (for children of middle school age and then more intrigue is required).
- The ratio of the talk room to the spectacle 70/30,
- Little humor, a lot of minor.
Absolutely boring restart. I'll see if I can continue.
We all love MegaFranchises, and science fiction movies with special effects are now the main trump card of many film studios. Transformers is one of Hazbro’s famous toy series, and after Michael Bay’s first film became a hit in its genre. Since the fan audience is huge, many expected action this time. . .
A lot of people have watched the first 5 movies from Michael and we all know that there is a different story of Transformers. So everyone understood that Bumblebee was a reboot of the series. I will now evaluate the film as an amateur, and not as an ardent fan of Bayformers and Transformers in general.
1. Very little action for such a voluminous film, could not show the full potential of the masters of special effects. We used to feel the power and size of robots compared to humans. Here they are ' some local' robots.
2. Very crude scenario. I know they wanted to show Bumblebee more, but there's not much about him, not much history. They didn't show us his character, his experience in espionage and all that. . .
3. Very bad acting. The family is a mess, parents cope with their duties, a single daughter without friends but with a car. it is difficult to feel the emotions of actors.
Conclusion: The film is for children and teenagers and, of course, for ardent fans of this franchise.
To begin with, I started watching the film in passing and with a fair amount of skepticism (thank you, Michael Bay!..), but the first shots made me sit down and watch the film until the end, without getting out of my chair.
No, I'm not going to go through the movie verbatim by washing his bones and proving that he's the best. And no, this movie isn't the best. It could have been better, deeper, brighter... I hope this movie has yet to come out. But this film is definitely the most correct of all the films in the franchise that have been released recently. A beautiful attempt to fix everything that Mike Bay and the Transformers Animed did to her.
This film brings back the spirit of the Transformers themselves, who have always been a very simple, logical narrative. He brings us back to childhood, where it is clear who is good here, where all the bad robots will get what they deserve, where mom does not understand us, and from the most terrible uncles will save of course Dad! At a time when all technology falls from the sky and they want to be friends with you. However, this is where the film begins to go overboard with grace and turns the fighting machine into a puppy (or a lost child). But thanks to the received emotions, you immediately stop paying attention to such details. How do you stop paying attention to inconsistencies and secondary plot, to endless clichés? You forgive the movie for taking back its character. He returned the transformers cool, not making them all-powerful pathos glands and not endowing them with magic. He brought the Transformers back to the “cool big brother” who is always there and always ready to protect you from bullies from the neighboring region of the galaxy. . .
I’ll talk a lot about technical issues and won’t. I will note one, but undeniable (and one of the main ones for the franchise) is the transformation itself. I remember my bewilderment from watching the shapeless mad metal 3D puzzle that Michael Bay turned transformers into. After it, the footage of Bumbley's transformation is a massage for the eyes of a tired fan. Now it is almost a classic, logical Rubik cube, which blows warmth and nostalgia.
And I think now, after a brief description, it's time to draw conclusions. Well... For a longtime fan of the franchise, who does not pretend to be a sophisticated film critic, the film will leave a good aftertaste. Simple story. Well-painted robots. Memorable characters. Positive ending. A hint of the same continuation. What else do we need from childhood? Enjoy your visit.
Finally, the franchise managed what should have been done first - to build the story of the main character / heroine, and already technology to show what fans of transformers love - shooters, explosions and clamshell robots. Bumblebee does not try to tell everything at once, and let this spinoff mean winding the entire franchise back, but it is worth noting that this step came at the right time, when Michael Bay is already beginning to lose commercial and creative interest in the story.
So, Bumblebee decided to lie down and wait for the reinforcements of his comrades who escaped from their planet during the uprising, lying a little in a dump on Earth, a robot familiar to us falls to a teenager named Charlie. It is worth noting that unlike other parts of the entire movie universe, Bumblebee is almost the only representative who somehow took into account the interests of the children’s generation, so it is worth paying tribute to Travis Knight, the younger generation with the work of the director should become more interesting.
Another positive detail can be called a moderate amount of graphics and special effects, no, Michael Bay without his pyrotechnics as a producer could not resist the sidelines, so those limited scenes with explosions and battles were filmed at the usual level for "Transformers", but as I mentioned above - this was not the only thing for which this film was made.
We can assume that the rehabilitation of "Transformers" was successful, moreover - this concept opens the hands for film studios to promote the franchise further, because there are enough robot characters with the head, and if the authors stick to the strategy "Bumblebee" at least for some time - I think it will prolong the life of the entire universe for several years.

While watching this film (hereinafter 'G'), I began to feel the growing presence of an extra chromosome, but its final appearance was avoided using dosed viewing.
This is a degraded copy of the AHRENITAL first part with a 25-35% slice of feminism (Human-GG is Defka; one of the antagonists Strong Independent Woman; now the goofy, not HG-Man mother, but father/stepfather).
'G' is a mixture of 'Transformers' and 'Steel Giant' lowered to the bottom using a shooting style (or not style, I don't know - I'm stupid) like Scooby-Doo.
Jokes in this ' G' not clinging except one ((!!!!O) God - SPOILER!111)), when John Cena came home to Defka after catching Bee and Batya the stepfather confessed to the warrior that he had stolen marshmallows (like them) in his youth, and Cena replied: 'We know' That's why I yelled.
The U.S. Army in this ' G' is represented by a handful of degenerates putting the threat from the USSR above the alien threat and almost without hesitation agreeing to the request of the Decepticons (but the Negritus General had an insidious plan that was never seen in action, consisting in the destruction of the Decepticons after the capture of B). In the end, the US Army turned from a bunch of degenerates into John Cena and a helicopter with a gun! ! ! .
The only thing I liked about it ' G' it's the final mahatch of Bee with Strong Independent Woman and her dumb schmuck henchman, it was spectacular.
' G' is not a prequel to the five parts 'Transformers' as he himself spit on that nonsense from the 5th part, and the scene after the credits spit on all the rest, in particular the first part.
I did not watch a fan of cartoons about Transformers, if I watched them only accidentally, and not purposefully and as I understand the emphasis was placed on repeating the plot of cartoons with barely touching the movie franchise.

For children who are not burdened with finding logic and do not see the stupidity of some characters (the U.S. Army is just pi..).
Michael Bay was lucky to save his flying into tartara after the resounding failure of the “Island” director’s career in time turned up “Transformers”, who returned the faith of producers in the box office of the director. In an evil Hollywood irony, Bay not only launched one of the most successful film franchises, but also managed to almost finish it off. Budgets grew, timekeeping stretched, and the IQ of the paintings for the fourth sequel managed to break the zero bar. Fortunately, the rolling crackle from the failure of the fifth film led to the feelings of studio bosses who decided to temporarily close the Bay shop and conduct an easy spinoff reboot.
'Bumblebee' against the background of its pretentious high-budget dumb brethren looks more like a modest indie project without claims. Indeed, the story has shrunk to the scale of the suburbs of San Francisco, and the events unfold around the life-being of the average American family. By switching the story tumbler from the all-planetary mode to the fabulous intimacy mode, the creators managed to concoct a soul-lamp story in a fashionable eightecostal atmosphere.
During the viewing, there is a strong feeling that you are witnessing a kind of paraphrase of the legendary ' Alien', which is not surprising, given that the plot was planted by the producer of the franchise Steven Spielberg. The old man realized that nostalgia-theme always works almost flawlessly. Against the background, Bon Jovi, The Smiths and Duran Duran tear their throats, the walls are hung with posters for “Something” and “Indian Jones”, Alf jokes on TV, and school beauties flaunt with laced hair and pink lipstick on their lips. The event canvas is also taken from naive teenage films of that era: militant and enterprising youth confronts a slightly dull and clumsy military, selflessly saving an alien friend.
For the first half an hour, it looks a little fake and fake, but gradually imbued with the mood of the film and its teenage drive. Completely dispersed, "Bumblebee" demonstrates clearly delivered and detailed action, in contrast to the pixel mix of "Transformers", a pleasant unstressed humor and charming, albeit a little clichéd, main characters.
Sweet Haley Steinfeld is a miracle, and even purred the final song.
In general, a positive and soulful Hollywood family movie, created according to the classic genre of Spielberg patterns.
I didn’t expect Bumblebee at all, although with all the shoals and criticism of Bay’s blockbusters, I waited and watched every new part with pleasure. Well, let the plots degraded there and the special effects were so boring that the picture was not surprising. But there was a scope, there was a feeling that the movie is still initially about the confrontation of transformers, and not about the romantic relationship of a teenage girl with a toy robot. In Hollywood, in general, after the reviews of “The Last Knight” decided correctly:
Something needs to change. Of course, the fees of “Transformers” will provide in any case, but after the fourth part it was obvious that even Mark Wahlberg would not be able to carry everything that the writers there had turned to the fifth. The sixth was forgotten as a terrible dream. And we focused on something else - since everyone is so fed up with the same special effects and the undying Megatron, we need to shoot about another. Since Bumblebee is one of the favorite transformers among the audience, you should try it from him. And make a film about him not a fantastic action movie, but an adventure children's fiction.
There is no point in criticizing such a decision, well, it was just decided that something had to change. As a result, the “relaunch” of Transformers, of course, lost in scope, seriousness of what is happening, combat component, and to a heap also lost charismatic heroes. I'm talking about human heroes - think for yourself, since the key character is the heroine of Steinfeld, and the only less well-known actor John Cena (!). The film turned out to be absolutely childish, I would even say not 13+, but up to 13 years maximum. They came up with such a naive and melodramatic scenario that there is nowhere else to go.
Naturally, the action of the film moved according to the current film trend, in the 80s. It's so predictable now that I'm all for that. For example, evil decepticons in the guise of cool oil cars is what you need! And it is especially stupid that the BI transforms into the Camaro only at the very end, and until that point in general is exclusively a target. It seems that the authors wanted to convey to the viewer the following: a nice robot from the planet Cybertron can and should be saved and protected by a little girl. From evil soldiers It's not serious, for God's sake. True, the director Knight before only cartoons and shot.
This time, the studio had the task of restarting Transformers, returning them to their original appearance. That's why robots are so toys on Cybertron, but then it's not clear how the Decepticons on our planet are already painted like Bay's... and why the hell are the Decepticons so cool and dangerous again, and the BI is a tiny transformer like a battering baby and only humans can help him? How much is that? Other than that, it's just fun kids' fiction, with a decent picture, a good soundtrack, and a funny Sina as a brave warrior. The film looks like a separate, expensive series of the animated series Transformers.
