Live like a king. In 1991, Disney directed the cartoon Beauty and the Beast, which later became one of the most popular cartoons of this studio. He received the status of a cult, received many awards, and the composer of this creation was recognized as the best. And as usual, every creature has imitators. This is where the movie came from.
This is, of course, the Golden Films studio. Known for its cheap fakes for box office films based on fairy tales and short stories. Remarkably, she filmed Beauty and the Beast twice. First in 1992, then in 1997. Both of them did not gain wide popularity, or rather, turned out so compared to Disney. I decided to watch the second film adaptation.
I'm going to break it down.
Plot. It all begins with the fact that ghosts find the book “Beauty and the Beast”. Suddenly they hear someone coming and hide in this book. And then they show the book flipping hands... monsters. Yes, yes, the book “Beauty and the Beast” is leafed by the Beast itself from the fairy tale. The father has 4 daughters, goes for goods, asking the daughters what they want. Younger, Beauty, asks for a flower as usual. The father sees that the ship has crashed, goes home, but on the way gets stuck and finds himself in a castle. He is fed, drunk, put to bed, and in the morning he takes a flower, the Beast is not satisfied with this and demands that his father give him one of his daughters. I think it's clear what happens next. If you have read a fairy tale or at least watched the film adaptation.
The creators decided to add slacks. For example, the key characters influencing the plot are three ghosts. Somehow the Beast knows them, despite the fact that in the very beginning they hid from him. They have known him for a long time. Interestingly, they all died because the prince became the Beast because of his selfishness. But it turns out that they are stuck in two worlds. It's a brain drain. What worlds are they in? How did they die? What are these worlds? We will never get answers.
Characters. In a word, they're nothing. Here we see a mustache father who has four daughters, including Beauty. My father seems to be paying more attention to Beauty. How do you explain why he doesn’t know the names of his three daughters? He doesn’t even know how many daughters he has – in a conversation with the Beast he says he has 3 daughters. Perhaps one of the daughters is not a daughter, but a wife.
As for the daughters, besides Beauty, the other three have actually three deadly sins: gluttony, laziness and arrogance. Although they are both arrogant, as they look down on their sister. I'm glad they don't look like template evil sisters. On the contrary, they are somewhat cute, albeit very voracious.
Ghosts don't know what they are. It seems like positive characters trying to help the Beast. But at the same time they are so faithful to their master that they decide first to lock their father in prison, and then give her Beauty.
The Beast. He's all mean and touchy. It will immediately start to get angry and angry. In a fit of anger, he often breaks vases, tears up paintings, and then yells at Beauty, so that she leaves him alone.
I won’t say anything about Beauty at all. Well, she's a positive character, loving the Beast, despite his anger. Getting used to it. She says she doesn't have any emotions. The Stockholm Syndrome is no different.
Animation. In the cartoon, a huge number of all sorts of blunders. There are so many that I would publish a whole book. I'll just say the basics.
In one scene, when three daughters sing a song about their desires, the summer is shown. And then when the song ends, it's winter outside. In general, the time of year flies here quickly. When the father is going to pick up a load, on the street is, say, autumn, it will be more logical. When he returns with nothing, winter comes. How long did he go to the port? Does his family live in the depths? Yes, even Russia can be traveled in one season, but what is the season, in one month.
And the most ridiculous is when a father opens a huge door of the house, and his daughters approach him, he looks like a dwarf against their background. And in another scene, he's a normal size. Even a child will notice this blunder.
But the most annoying thing is the sudden transition from stage to stage. Sometimes during the dialogue, when it does not have time to end. Where are the creators in such a hurry?
Music This is the worst. The creators, apparently, did not have enough funds to write OSTs for the cartoon - only for 3 songs. Basically, the music that sounds in the cartoon is compositions from Tchaikovsky’s symphony “Swan Lake” and “The Nutcracker” (Dance of the Fairy Draget). And they sometimes sound out of place and often interrupt each other. This feature is present in other cartoons of the studio Golden Films. Apparently, the studio budget is enough only for animation yes 3-4 songs for the cartoon.
Total. This is one of the most unseen cartoons. The authors did not even try to revise this material. And they thought that if the kids were stupid, they'd eat that too. But even the kids won't like it very much.
