It's gonna be hot in Hota! When the bright Christmas time comes, each of us dreams of miracles, festive mood and performance of certain rituals, without which it is impossible to imagine this wonderful winter season. For most people around the world, Christmas and New Year in addition to the elegant Christmas tree, fireworks and festivities is also associated with the unforgettable comedy of Chris Columbus Home Alone. Independent filmmaker Thomas Fife never claimed such lofty laurels, and yet he was lucky. The project of the director and his colleagues from a small animation studio Blobstudios called “Lego Star Wars: Christmas Special” found the way to the hearts of the audience, thanks to which the fans of the sharp Darth Vader and, as always, the patient Santa Claus were able to appreciate the next chapter of the funny series, called “Lego Star Wars: Christmas Special 4”.
The plot of the short takes us back to Darth Vader’s Star Destroyer, where a bearded wizard in a red suit was taken to give the dark Sith lord some explanations about the sacraments of Christmas. Breaking the boredom of the snow-white armor of loyal stormtroopers, Vader achieves everything he needs and not to leave an extra passenger on board, orders officers to urgently land Santa Claus, who has had time to get bored, near the nearest planet, which turns out to be inhospitable Hoth. Landing on the surface, the good wizard discovers the base of the Rebel Alliance hidden in the snow, which brings trouble to unexpected comrades. Imperial forces notice the enemy and move forward with the unchanged Darth Vader at the head.
Whatever happens in the world, what changes do not affect the tastes of the audience, Thomas Fife never tires of destroying the diligent canons once laid down in the Saga by George Lucas himself. The heroes of “Lego Star Wars: Christmas Special 4” without a shadow of embarrassment swear, break each other’s limbs and all their actions demonstrate that Christmas in a galaxy far, far away is never easy. The eternal confrontation between Darth Vader and Santa Claus goes to the next level of complexity, as the history finally penetrates the rebels. However, this time Fife is in no hurry to escalate tensions, leaving room for the true Christmas values for which we are all waiting for this wonderful family holiday.
If you want to plunge into the plastic world of Lego Star Wars: Christmas Special, remember that this story is not for everyone. Hard black comedy with glimpses of effective morality will be fun no worse than full-length parodies in the style of “A Very Scary Movie”. The creators of a funny animated franchise maintain the bar of quality, successfully rotating in the world of “Star Wars” and making it a little sharper. Good to see you all!
